Summary: DAOC BEST ONLINE RPG OUT THERE
Review: I love DAOC. Sure there are problems with bugs and such, but you can say that about ANY game out there. It doesn't take a computer genious to know that the only way to know and fix all known bugs is to actually test the product. I personally think that DAOC has worked hard and well trying to fix problems and issues. They have FREE expansion packs to try and satisfy the customers. They constantly take feedback and try and work with the gaming community. Alot of the things that people asked for is what TOA was all about. AND they are trying to fix problems with getting ML's done with smaller amounts of groups. I play on a small server and we have ML runs every night. The smallness of our server isn't the problem, the problem is when people don't work together. Personally, I play the game more for the people than I do for getting artifacts or quests. I can't wait for the new expansion and I personally think it's funny that the people that make all the complaints either don't play or are avid players but do nothing BUT complain and of course the ones that complain when they shut down the servers to fix problems they're complaining about. A++ to Mythic for at least trying. I played EQ and Mythic's customer service and repair of known bugs is outstanding compared to them. I recommend this game to ANYONE who likes to go online, make friends, and just relax and let off some steam every once in a while.

Summary: Beta has given me High Hopes!
Review: I must say that I have been having a great deal of fun testing this expansion!

Graphically, this expansion brings DAoC up to par (and in my opinion even surpases) with all the new games on the market. I love the way my character looks now, and all the little touches like breathing, wiggling individual fingers, and armour actually adding bulk instead of just being a skin pasted on is wonderful. And the character customization is much more complex now than it was before (although, some games still have better, but many have worse).

The new zones are all visually stunning (although the Viel Rift had the higfhest drool factor to me, I just sat and stared for about 10 minutes!). And they give you lots to explore and do.

The new classes are very interesting and challanging to play! I'll let you find out more when the game is released. ;)

The impact on RvR is minimal (unlike ToA). This is meant to be a PvE expansion, and it truly is. The only thing that will really effect RvR are the new classes. The new bonuses on the new loot is specifcally desinged to be PvE bonuses. They simply will not work in RvR.

I think the one thing that this expansion will really do is allow people new to the game to be able to enjoy the process of leveling up, without it being too frustrating. All the new quests, instanced dungeons, dungeon tasks, etc will make it so that leveling up isn't the chore it once was. Especially in the new areas! Catacombs was desinged for solo to one full group play, not massive armies like ToA.

Get this if you are new to the game, and for those who are long time players, you will never wat to look at the old models again after playing with the catacombs engine. Heck, lag is a lot less than the ToA engine, so you'll want it just for that! :)

Summary: Great Game, Piss Poor Technical Support
Review: I was introduced to this game through an internet trial download, and was quickly hooked. While the graphics were poor in comparison to the expectations I had from the Herald web page screenshots (a bit of a misleading bit of marketing, since they are all stills of scenery, and not the "moving parts of the game), I quickly became "addicted", and bought a six month (the maximum) subscription.

Shortly thereafter, I began to encounter some serious issues with the game, resulting from Mythic "updating" the game files on their server. The most serious of these involved a recurrent "system crash" and "serious system error" issue, once only a problem with those who played under versions of Windows pre-dating XP.

Despite the gravity of the threat implied by "serious system error" to my PC, and the promises of Mythic to reply within 72 hours, no such reply was forthcoming. I was instead directed to European customer support (I play from Hungary), who do not accept the (still valid, but useless since I cannot play the game without a crash) account name under which I am subscribed. While Mythic has an in-game appeal system supposedly to deal with these issues, the only reply one gets is to contact customer service, by phone, and only on Monday thru Thursday. Why a gaming company doesn't have technical support over weekends, presumably the time when most would play the thing, is beyond me. The server I am playing on is, by default of my location, an International server, as well, so why am I pointlessly directed to contact US technical support through a US number when they will just decline to help? Finally, why is a game out for three years issuing updates that cause "serious system errors" on software that formerly worked perfectly, in the first place?

Additionally, there has been an infrequent, but regardless frustrating when it occurs, incidence of delay in technical and online support due to the fact that the advisers are too busy playing the game. On one occasion I was actually told by the online support agent that he would come back and help me with my issue after he had finished playing through his "quest". What is up with that?

The long and short is that, while you can get over the misrepresented graphics, and will have a blast playing and interacting with other players in the game, this will only continue as long as the game plays well. Once you have technical or game play issues, the bustling online community sorta vanishes, and you will feel very, very alone.

Summary: Read Trials of Atlantis and see what people think of Mythic
Review: If you're going to give this company your hard earned dollars, read what kind of garbage they are putting out. If you're new, read the reviews and see for yourself. That's all anyone expects from you. I'll tell you that many many people are unhappy with Mythic. This expansion looks to be no different. The last 2 expansions Mythic put out, Trials of Atlantis (retail) and New Frontiers ('free'), have been uniformly detested by their playerbase. 0 for 2 and we're supposed to trust Mythic? Never.

Summary: Questions about catacombs
Review: ok 1 the graphics for characters is much better unlike i have seen in most other games. Most people (at first) were upset about ToA expansion because of the many bugs but most have been fixed and almost everything about the game in Realm v. Realm is based on player feedback that is how most of the stuff gets done. True there have been people interested in EQ2 WoW and FF when they were released mainly do to the fact of their names were already so popular from earlier versions. What makes DAoC different is that it has been one game for the past 3 years and only have expansions to that game so it has been out much longer meaning that so some may quit to play WoW they will return because there are going to be bugs and other stuff wrong with it when you have a MMORPG and this is not a stand-alone product you must have ToA installed and ToA has benefitted people tremendously so before you go on talking bad about it play the game and see what it's like for more than a week. And this is an expansion not to be confused with a dugeoun in Albion this creates an underworld for all three realms and grants one new class to Albion and two new classes to Midgard and Hibernia.

Summary: Don't listen to those whiners
Review: Ok, first, all those people complaining about DAoC taking too long to get far enough to compete in Realm vs Realm wars (player on player battling) or the harder dungeons need to stop. If it was easy, do you think anyone would play the game for very long? NO. Players would get to the maximum abilities and then quit because it was boring after that. What makes DAoC an awesome game is the fact that every new expansion extends and diversifies the playability. To all you hardcore gamers out there, who want a game that they can't beat in a weekend or even a couple months: this is where you need to come for a good time. And now with the Catacombs expansion, DAoC has really become a major contender with EQ and FFXII as far as overall graphics and gaming complexity. Furthermore, with the instanced (personalized) dungeons and HUGE increase in questing and general item diversity with Catacombs, DAoC is definately the way to go.

Summary: Newest expansion pack
Review: This catacombs expansion is the third major expansion of the Dark age of camelot MMORPG online game. Each expansion Mythic have improved graphics quality and features, and also added new areas to play.

Their last expansion, Trials of Atlantis, was not great, its true. Mythic admit that due to publishing deadlines they shipped it with bugs that they have had to fix later, and some even they are still fixing, but this is true of most online games, they are in a state of flux always.

For the main game review, check out DAOC gold and the expansion reviews, we have yet to see how this newest expansion changes things and how it works, the original game and its expansions to date are well worth playing.

Online games create strong loyalty, and some negative reviews here do show that they were written by people loyal to other games. As a player of DAOC I would say it is one of the best I have played, with a great community and many features that other games lack. I will be buying this newest expansion, but I am wary that it may have problems that their last expansion had because it was rushed out.

neutral review because I, as everyone, has no clue how good or bad this patch may be. Anyone who reviews it at this stage otherwise is heavily biased one way or the other.

Summary: A good expansion for a fun game
Review: This is the best expansion they've made for camelot so far. Very graphically intense so older systems may have some trouble.
