| Description:

HiJaak first entered the market as a topnotch graphics utility that became popular for its ability to automatically convert graphics between dozens of different formats while retaining image quality. The software still does that--and does it well--but so many new features have been added over the years that HiJaak 5.0 is now a full-fledged graphics management suite.
The latest version of HiJaak converts to more file formats than before (more than 115), including the latest FlashPix and KDC digital camera formats. Images can be converted in batches, and we really liked the new organizational features that let us group our images. We were able to create thumbnail images of our photos and other graphics that made it much easier to organize things than the old method of memorizing file names. There is a command for printing all the thumbnails in a group, a great feature for making image catalogs. We also appreciated the ability to tag images with keywords, a feature that basically turns HiJaak into a fully searchable image database. The conversion process worked well in our tests, and there are advanced options for professionals who need to maintain as much quality as possible during the conversion process. Novices will love the intuitive interface and conversion automation which did a good job of turning a bunch of TIF images we'd captured with a digital camera into Web-friendly JPEG format. Tools that let users capture Web sites and screen shots round out the package, which anyone who works with graphics will love. Image conversion doesn't get much easier than this. --T. Byrl Baker
