Summary: Slow but it worked (mostly)
Review: I read all the bad reviews before buying this product, but I bought it anyway because I couldn't find any other software that can move programs from one computer to another. I have software on an old computer that I've lost the CDs for and which can no longer be bought (Visual Studio 6.0) I successfully transferred Microsoft Office, Visual Studio 6.0 (with C++ and Basic), Photoshop, and some other programs. There were a couple less important programs which didn't transfer correctly. I didn't find it difficult to use, but the process was very tedious. My old computer couldn't establish the USB connection so I had to use a serial cable connection. The entire process took about 7 hours. I wasn't interested in tranferring preferences or "favorites" so I can't speak to whether those transfer as well. All in all, it was a pain but I was able to get what I needed - at considerably less cost than having to buy Visual Studio.Net (which I didn't even want but 6.0 isn't sold anymore). I would definitely spring for the "Ultra" version because otherwise I think you have to transfer everything. That would have taken DAYS!

Summary: What a time saver
Review: I used PC Relocator and PC Relocator Ultra Control a number of times. I have been super happy with the way it relocated my stuff. I read lots of review and contacted the company itself before purchasing this software. The customer service and technical support staff were VERY helpful. They answered my questions right away. I had an issue connecting with the USB cable and when I called tech support I was helped right away. They sent me a FREE crossover cable, which relocated my files at a much faster rate. I think people who did not like the software are not computer literate, there for they do not need to purchase sophisticated software like this one. They need to hire someone to move their items from one PC to another one. The PC Relocator is the easiest software I have ever used. All I did was install and moved my items. I recommend this software to all computer savvy people. You do not need to buy this software if you need help logging in to your PC. I suggest before purchasing this software you contact the company at 954-845-9941. They will be able to help you with any questions you have. They also offer a 100% return policy, which I suggest you take a look at before you buy.

Summary: Not as great as it sounds
Review: I used this product to transfer files to a new computer I had put together. I used the same operating system, Win98 SE. The program froze up a number of times. I was able to transfer most of my files, some of my applications. The problems is, when it freezes up, it starts all over again rather than being able to see what has already transferred. At one point, with just a few minutes to being finished, it was merging my old registry data with the new and froze up again. Very frustrating! Also, on a previous freeze up, the target computer would not boot fully, even into safe mode. I wound up having to revert to a previous system configuration. I would not recommend this program to the average computer user. You could wind up getting into a situation you may not be able to fix.

Summary: Poor product, didn't deliver
Review: I wanted a product that would transfer several large files from a Win 98 desktop to a new notebook w/ XP Home Edition. Had some trouble getting USB hookup to recognize the Source PC. Once that was working, I discovered that this product appears to be worthless for selected file transfer. You get 4 choices with the only file transfer being 1. the entire My Documents folder 2. A bunch of other files. I found that the latter marked many folders for all or partial transfer. I gave up fearing that this puppy would screw up my new notebook with unwanted files. This software is headed for the trash bin.

Summary: Amazing software - transfers applications!
Review: I was nervous due to the price, but this and Desktop DNA are the only options to transfer applications, and DNA is much more expensive. Because of a recent move, I couldn't locate all my original installation disks, so it was either this or keep two computers until I could find the original disks for Word, Photoshop Elements, etc.

It comes with cables for ethernet crossover or high speed parallel port connection. You can also transfer files to removable media - zip, cd, etc - or with a USB bridge/data cable - needs 2 male plugs - if you can find one. My ethernet connection took 11 hours to complete, but it was worth every minute.

Nearly all the programs that didn't transfer were ones I'd removed partially or badly, things I didn't want anyway. The exception was Star Office 5.0 - I had the last freeware version from about a month before they started selling it. I suspect they left out the installation files to force people to get it from their own site or pay for it. It doesn't guarantee it can transfer all your programs, but I was very satisfied with how much it transferred.

The one error I made in my first attempt to use it was to allow the program to change my communication settings - then the crossover cable wouldn't recognize the other computer, and messed up my MS wireless network. I'd recommend telling that prompt "No," and only changing it if you can't connect after that.

Before getting to that point, please do your homework: You absolutely have to turn off or remove your antivirus program and firewall. It helps if you clean up your disk, defrag, remove unnecessary files, etc. It'll make the process much easier and smoother for you.

I LOVE this software. It's not perfect or 100% successful, but the 99% it did was more than I needed it to. I'd strongly recommend it at twice the price.

Summary: This program worked like junk for me
Review: I'd rate it -1 if that choice were availble. I should have read the Amazon.com reviews before buying this product at CompUSA. And I should have expected nothing from a name like AloaBob, and I should have known that when it's too good to be true, it's too good to be true. It was an impulse buy - seemed like such a good idea when I saw it on the shelf. My task was to move about 5 GB of files from a W98 computer to a new XP Pro computer, both computers have C&D drives. I ran scandisk on the W98 unit and Norton utilities on both computers to be sure there was no existing structural problems. All data was in two folders named data and photos on the source computer. 1st problem was the USB connection didn't work - but the network did. Then I spent two hours trying to tell PC Relocator to not transfer programs and that I just wanted to transfer the two folders. It wouldn't alow transfer of Outlook mail files, Internet Explorer favorites or MMoney files. It doesn't have a spreadsheet sort of selector page like one would expect from a windows program, it has an archaic select-one-regenerate-look-again-select-again sort of interface. When it made the transfers it jumbled up the sub folders and in some cases put files from several foldes into one, some folders were missing, . .. in short, a complete mess. In the end I had to tranfer my 5 gb manually anyway. On top of that, the source computer then would hang instead of shutdown (tried it 3 times to be sure) until I deleted the program. I found it a time waster, not a time saver.

Summary: Junk
Review: Save money and time by manually moving your programs over to your new computer. The idea of having everything moved over to my new computer automatically sounded like a good idea. Installing the Relocation software was fairly easy, and it only took a little finagling for the computers to recognize each other through the USB. I started the transfer, and after 20 minutes it got stuck on a file. It would transfer half the file, announce that it lost the USB connection, announce that it found the connection, and would start to re-transfer the file again only to have the same scenario repeat itself at the exact same point in the file transfer. I'd have to [stop] the transfer, find the file, delete it, and start over from the beginning. The next time, it took only 30 minutes to find another file to repeat this process on. The program told me it would only take about 3 hours to transfer everything, but I gave up after nearly four hours of using the Relocation software with only the My Documents folder moved. I could have installed all the programs, and transferred all my desired files in less time than that, and I would have saved seventy dollars.

Sometimes, too good to be true simply is. This software is junk, and should be avoided if you want to retain your sanity.

Summary: Good relocation experience (Win2K Pro -> WinXP Pro)
Review: Seems like people are really polarized around this software. For me it worked really well. Before buying it, I contacted Eisenworld tech support and asked them about various applications that I cared about (particularly Adobe Illustrator and VMWare). They responded within a day, and told me Illustrator would work, and they weren't certain about VMWare.

I bought the PC Relocator Ultra Control version of the product, and migrated my apps and data from my Windows 2000 Pro laptop (running a seriously damaged version of Windows - due to viruses and four years of bitrot) to a new Dell machine runnning XP Pro. I selected the option to transfer everything via TCP/IP over my home network.

Apart from an odd error message at one point (it looked like Aloha Bob was trying to read one of its own documentation files from my source machine and failing to find it), the transfer went smoothly. I successfully transferred MS Office, Adobe Illustrator, Quicken, and several other applications that I use heavily. Sure enough, VMWare did not transfer properly (if anyone has a successful experience transferring VMWare from one machine to another please let me know). But I can't really fault Eisenworld for that. Their application delivered what they promised it would, and by spending $70 I rescued several hundred dollars worth of software.

So I'm pretty happy. I'd recommend this software. If anyone else has a bad experience and wants to write a review, please mention which method you used to transfer the data. Maybe TCP/IP is the only reliable one.
