Summary: Beware - Amazon.com sells, but then on long backorder
Review: Beware of Amazon.com if you want to buy this item. While Amazon.com keeps selling this product, three times now I have received emails delaying shipment of this product. This seems more and more often lately.

I have a downloaded sample of the program and it is good. It is just really sad that Amazon.com is not truthful in its sale ads - if it doesn't have the product in stock, then say so!

Summary: The Best
Review: I first bought the Enigma's Spy Hunter, but its performance was so disappointing plus poor support that I gave it away. On the other hand Spyware , blocks spyware in real time, has the biggest definitions list of spywares, fast scanning with remaining time, good support, inexpensive that was the best choice.

If you want the best this is it.

Summary: Good sweep, lousy support
Review: I have to say that I have the same experience as others have noted with Webroot's lack of support. I bought two copies for my PCs. One installed and registered OK (not as easy as Symantec's Live Update system, but I eventually got it to work). Once that was done, it's easy to use. For the second copy, the registration system never worked, so the program refuses to update on the web site. There is no way within the program to register and no useful info on their support web site on how to fix this problem. I opened an online support ticket more than 2 days ago and no response. Waited on the phone for 15 minutes, then was cut off and told to leave a message, no return call more than a day later. For a program like this, if you can get updates, it is useless. And their registration and support system is BADLY BROKEN. I'd look elsewhere until they fix these problems.

Summary: Best antispy software I have used.
Review: I have used several types of spyware programs, I am most happy with this program out of all of them. I found the program easy to use, update, and it finds lots of spyware. No spyware program will find all spyware, so you have to find the program that is right for you, and this is the one for me. As for tech support, they are great. I have never had any of the problems that others on amazon talked about. you go to their website and report a problem and they send you a ticket, and they will email you back when the problem is solved. I had one of my technical questions solved in less then 5 minutes, others have taken a few hours or maybe a day or two at the most, but I have always gotten a responce. That's my two cents worth

Summary: I should have listened to you...
Review: I read all the reviews that talked about non-existent support and paid attention to one co-worker who said Spy Sweeper worked pretty well. I bought it. I ran into problems. The reviews were apparently right. If you need help you're not going to get it from Webroot software. I should have stuck to Ad-Aware and HiJack This!

Oh well, live and learn I guess. Here's hoping you don't make the same mistake.

Summary: Good, but you need more than this
Review: I use this in combination with Ad Aware. Spy Sweeper finds items that Ad Aware misses and vice versa. The first time I installed the package I ran it and the system found several questionable items. I ran Ad Aware right afterwards and it found 3 more.

A few weeks later I did the reverse on my daughters computer. Ad Aware pronounced the syetem clean while Spy Sweeper found a keystroke logger.

I suppose no one package will do it all. Last week I ran Spy Sweeper and Ad Aware. Both said I was clean. The I installed Yahoo Anti-Spy and it found two items one was another key logger!

Webroot does have great tech support, and they keep the software automatrically updated for you. The latest has over 30,552 signatures. It does a good job, but there is no single package that will find all the spyware out there. I recommend using this in concert with Ad Aware or Yahoo Anti-Spy.

Summary: Another warrior in the battle against spam and junk
Review: Spy Sweeper found almost 80 installations of spyware on my computer when I first installed it. This program still needs a bit of tweaking, but they keep updating it (maybe TOO often), however it's a good one. While spyware may not actually HARM your computer like a virus, it definitely slows it down... a lot! Spy Sweeper does a pretty good job of getting rid of unauthorized garbage on your computer.

Summary: Worked VERY well for a short time then boom!
Review: Spy Sweeper worked well on my PC for about a month then suddenly started acting up and technical support is very poor.

Likes: frequent updates, easy to use interface, finds and stops spyware in their tracks

Dislikes: Prevented me from starting any software on my PC after about a month (uninstalled and no probs ... running Ad-Ad-AdAware now), waiting for tech tech support 4 days and no response as yet.

Summary: A good product just got better
Review: Spysweeper by Webroot is now at version 3.0.

The good news........Webroot provided me with V3 under their
ONE YEAR of free upgrades AND updates.

Version 2 was good, but version 3 has a lot of cool new features, like all the new "shields".

So, when some Mal-ware program tries to change your browser home-page, an alert comes up and asks you if you authorized such a change.

Other shields include a HIJACK shield, IE tracking, IE favorites.

One especially neat one is the STARTUP ITEMS shield.
Before a program becomes a startup item, this shield pops up and asks you for authorization.

NOTE 1 : At this point in time, no single anti-spyware product appears to protect you from ALL potential mal-ware threats.
In fact, I have 4 different, FULL VERSION, products.
I alternate between these 4 programs almost daily.

There is a major amount of detection overlap but not a COMPLETE overlap. Each of the 4 programs finds stuff that the others didn't.

NOTE 2: I've debated folks in newsgroups about mal-ware detection s/w. Several folks comment that since there are FREE s/w packages, so why would anyone PAY for s/w?

First of all, remember, no single package detects every s/w threat out there (that I am aware of).

IMHO, the most indepth ones are NOT free s/w packages.
However, the freeware ones are good to an extent.

As for my personal PC's security, I use the following s/w packages: 1 firewall, 1 virus-scanner and 4 anti-spyware packages.

NOTE 3: Watch out for wolves in sheep's clothing!

There are several "self-proclaimed" ANTI-spyware packages that actually INSTALL mal-ware onto your pc! You in fact, are shooting yourself in the foot by installing such programs.

NOTE 4 : My favorites?
a. Spysweeper
b. Pestpatrol
c. Mcafee Anti-spy

Summary: Best Program Out There
Review: SpySweeper is by far THE best anti-spyware/adware program out there to date. It has made my computer adware/spyware free and has helped to keep it that way. Contrary to prior reviews SpySweeper DOES NOT overlay Windows XP license files or any other files for that matter and likewise, SpySweeper and programs like it are NOT firewalls folks. So if you're buying SpySweeper or similar programs, thinking they will act as firewalls you're going to be disappointed. SpySweeper's purpose is to detect and remove the spyware/adware off your machine and to provide protection via shields for your homepage, cookies, and other local vulnerable areas that adware/spyware programs worm their way into. If you want the ultimate protection against spyware/adware, then I strongly suggest the following. I have found that a combination of the current version of SpySweeper(Version 3.5 I think it is right now)and Norton Internet Security Suite, which includes the Norton Firewall(one of the best firewall programs out there, if not the best, IMO) is a great and powerful one two knock out punch for the adware/spyware problem. I have used these two together on my laptop for over a year now and have had little, if any, spyware/adware occurences.
