Summary: For ALL levels of ability
Review: Rather than repeat the praise that has been heaped on this product by other reviewers, I thought I would point out that Acid Pro 3.0 is an extraordinarily elastic piece of software; true, if you have no musical background, you can simply paste loops into your song and let Acid do the rest; but if you want to get into the microscopic details of music production, you can do that as well. Aside from global key and tempo changes, you can change the key of individual loops; you can change the pitch of individual notes within individual loops; add global effects or effects envelopes to just parts of tracks. Harmonize loops. Create multiple busses. There's even a way to simulate granular synthesis (read Sam's Teach Yourself Acid to learn how). Use the Chopper to create drum fills and stutters.

In short, the single most daunting thing about Acid is not the learning curve, but the absurd number of things you can do with it--where does one start?

P.S., As if Acid Pro 3.0 were not powerful enough, it comes with a basic version of Sound Forge, Sonic Foundry's sound file editor.

Summary: The end-all program for laptop DJs
Review: What could be easier? If you want to make beat-driven music, Acid is the only way to go. Just click and drag. Simplest interface ever, as long as you have loops ready. Sure, you could use all of the royalty free samples they give you, but if you want something really original, you can get a sound recorder, sample MP3 songs on your computer, make those into loops, and viola! Instant muzak! Ever wish you had the talent to be like the Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, or any other nameless electronica acts? Well, it turns out, you don't have to know anything at all! Acid allows for endless experimentation. Mix different sounds together, you eventually come up with something good.

Summary: Hate to buck the trend, but I find it very un-intuitive
Review: You know, I've spent 20+ years in software, have a Masters degree in Computer Science, and I tell you, I get frustrated trying to figure this program out every time I use it ( which apparently is not frequently enough to remember all the tricks you need to know to get work done ). In user-interfaces, one typically design to either the novice / in-frequent user, or the advanced user .. I'm gussing this one targeted the latter. Help files [are not good].
