Summary: Exiting movie
Review: Well... nobody really seems to get the thing about why the angels act like they act in the end... I understand it as a personal twist that if the angels can't make Robert and Celine fall in love for each other they can migt as well kidnap Celine and kill Robert and get the money Celines father wants to give them if they do. Since they cant go back to heaven if they don't reach this they will need money for their "life"on earth than...

I was fed up by love-comedies unless I saw this one wihich is so different from usual Hollywood-Love-Comedy-Movies. I just loved it and have it on DVD. It has a lot of strange tings going on in this movie and I love strange things....

Summary: Romantic Comedy With A Twist
Review: A LIFE LESS ORDINARY is definately an original movie. This is a completely original plot that is enriched by good actors. It stars Cameron Diaz, as the socialite Celine, and Ewan McGregor, who plays Robert, a custodian. Two angels are sent down to earth to help pair up these two unlikely people, and make them fall in love. Robert kidnaps Celine in an attempt to get back at her father, who got him fired and replaced him with a robot. At first they despise each other, but as the movie progresses she shows him how to be a success as a kidnapper, and he softens her attitude, and they eventually fall for each other. Hilarity ensues every time they seem to get off track and the angels make desperate attempts to put them back together, such as writing a poem, acting as killers. Overall it's a wonderful movie that is well acted and well scripted, definately a delight to see if you want something different or just enjoy good comedy with a twist.

Summary: Killer Angels
Review: "A Life Less Ordinary" was a movie with excellent actors, a basically cute story and a fair amount of potential. Unfortunately, the editing was disjointed, the angels were a surreal addition to the plot and someone who obviously hated Ewan McGregor arranged the wardrobe. The movie is worth a look if you're a McGregor or Cameron Diaz fan, but I'd rent it before adding it to the permanent library.

Summary: One of Ewans Best!
Review: I thought this movie was a very clever and hilarious movie. The movie basically started out up in heaven, and one of the leader angels sent two of his employie angels down to Earth. Why send them back? Because their job was to make a rich, uncaring woman(Cameran Diaz)fall in love with a man whoes life was going down in flames(Ewan McGregor). From there, the movie goes on telling about the two angels trying very hard to get these two totally opposites to try and love one another. And the bizzar thing about it is that Ewan takes Cameran hostage, and this is his first hostage so its quite hilarious when Cameran is trying to teach him how to be a criminal...but sadly, her attemps fail. Ewans too much of a good guy at heart. Cameran stays with Ewan because of the money at first, but after awhile she began to like him, but the problem was, Ewan began to "love" her! Will the angels succead at their job? Is anyone going to die? Or will the cops finally get ahold of Ewan and lock him up in jail for taking Cameran hostage? Well, I wont spoil the twisted ending!

Summary: A script less original
Review: As someone who loves off-beat characters and stories (this one is a kind of Almodovar-meets-Demme story) I found A Life Less Ordinary to fall into the traps of the very ordinary. We all love stories about the captive who wishes to remain in captivity with the reluctant abductor--blah blah blah, but so many reviewers here have found the story bizarre & unique that I am truly baffled. Although it is beautifully filmed and well-acted, I found myself enjoying the development of the story, yet feeling practically zero suspense.

And, while Cameron Diaz, Holly Hunter & Delroy Lindo (and everyone else, really) played their parts with hilarity and sensitivity, Ewan Macgregor only gave us more of his Moulin Rouge personality which to me didn't quite fit this part. He gave Cameron very little to go with in order to fall for him, and the chemistry between them was so questionable that I found much of this movie hard to believe. Yet, I didn't stop watching until the cheesy end, and did enjoy it nonetheless.

Summary: Eccentricity...amplified
Review: "A Life Less Ordinary" is a zany romp. Ewan McGregor plays Robert Lewis, the hestitant kidnapper who gets himself into the predicament accidentally because he's mad that janitor robots replaced him at a local business and his protest went awry, his "victim" is a controlling spoiled brat Celine Neville (Diaz) the child of his ex-employer, who, having been kidnapped before, contantly criticizes his kidnapping style. But believe it or not, you forget about the kidnapping altogether after half an hour as the two bond with each other.

Fact is, the kidnapping kicks off the movie but doesn't need to last because that's not what it's about, though they get themselves into enough legal trouble to last the whole film as a result of it. It's actually a romance about divine intervention.

Yes, divine intervention.

Apparently, St. Gabriel, who is upset at the lack of true and pure love, sends two agents down (played by Jackson O'Reilly and Holly Hunter in one of her most hilarious roles), to get them together or risk saying adios to pearly gates forever. They get mixed up with the apparently highly crooked Mr. Neville who wants them to kill Robert. Of course they can't do that because that would defy their purpose, on several accounts. Add a few gun fights, lots gunshot wounds, people getting crushed by cars, and some hilarious dialogue and situations and you get the general jist of the film. It doesn't try to make sense, but it does haphazardly in a frenetic, frantic, truly crazy way (though all cinematography stays well on the ground, no flying fairies or can can dancing here, and no, that's not a jab at Moulin Rouge).

The film also boasts a slew of great performances from Mcgregor and Diaz (very creative performances if you can imagine such a thing), Stanley Tucci the sleazy dentist ex-fiancee, to Ian Holm and Ian McNiece as the insideous Mr. Neville and his henchman. But the movie's real star, even beating out the couple's Sinatra dance duet in a honky tonk or their high speed racing in dilapitaed pickup trucks, is the script. It's high energy and brilliantly crafted, John Hodge (the writer) and Boyle (director) outdid themselves with such an insane yet workable idea.

Great watchable film that is highly undderated. Deserves more praise for being as un-ordinary and chock full of talent as possible.

Summary: Delightfully Random
Review: I watched this movie on TV a few nights ago for the first time and absolutely loved it. I know some of you may be wondering why I gave it five stars, but it was just so unique yet adorable that I had to. I am a Ewan MeGregor fan and watched it on the basis of his being in it and it was just one surprise after another. I just kept going "what in the world?" and couldn't believe some of the stuff those people thought of - like his morphing dreams/realities, the two angels, the entire ending... Hmm... Anyway, it was just all around such fun to watch because it was so unexpected and hilarious. Few movies can get away with being totally bizarre and out there while still maintaining a bit of normalcy and sense, but this is one of them. Definatley a must-see for anyone who likes romance, comedy, or just plain goofy movies.
