Summary: Funny movie,
Review: The reason this movie was shotdown by critics is that they don't have a sense of humor. Occasionly they'll give a comedy a good review but they're usually comedy/dramas. This movie was really funny. Who thought it wasn't does have a sense of humor. nother reason why is that it was probably it wasn't raunchy enough. People probably expected another Bluto

Summary: A review from Mr. Entertainment Lover
Review: Do you want a movie with lots of destruction and total mayhem? How about a movie with really stupid people made up of Americans, Japaneas, and Germans? This is the film for you. Despite what most of the critics have said, I believe this is one of the funniest comdies we have around. I think the reason critics didn't like it was because Speilbergs first three movies were serious. Don't let the critics get you down. This movie will make you laugh yourself silly as the goofy Japaneas try to bomb Hollywood with their submarine with the help of a punk Nazie. But some goofy Americans are going to try to stop them. See this movie. It's good! John Belushie does a great performance as a pyscho pilot.

Summary: "Dad, you're ruining Christmas!"
Review: This may have been a flawed film, but it really wasn't all that bad! Some scenes are, in fact, hilarious! But other parts are over-acted and overly-silly. This movie is semi-based on a real incident that happened on the west coast shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, when war-jitters were at an all-time high! A Japanese submarine really did surface off the California coast and shell a refinery, doing minimal damage (it was operational again within a day!) This movie-version of that event expands upon it, sometimes with hilarious results --- and sometimes not. Still, the production values are excellent, and it moves at a quick pace. And if you like swing-music from the World War II years you'll want to see it for that alone!

Summary: A Bloated Mess. HORRID
Review: with it being 2hrs and 26mins long this movie is a bloated mess from master Steven Spielberg who hasn't had a bad movie since never all his movies have been good. this is horrid i didn't find any form of humor in this mess of a movie. Jim Belushi is so unfunny and everything is bad what was Steven Spielberg thinking when he decided to makes this Horrid Movie

Summary: really REALLY FUNNY
Review: This is one of the funnyest movies i've ever seen. If you have ever seen a John Belushi movie and liked it, like the movie "Animal House" you would love this movie. I recomend this movie to anyone who has a sense of humor.

Summary: YOR OPINION IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS
Review: hey man a great ww2 movie. the best of the best. of course the quality of the dvd itself isn't top quality its still great. don't expect all dvd's to be with the best picture and sound because they all aren't. this one might not have the best sound or picture but i still think its good. i know everyone else is saying there own personal opinons about this movie. but the only way to get the real truth is to see it yorself. rent it first to see for yorself. u don't have to know much about ww2 either. its fun for the whole family!!!

Summary: Viciously Underrated
Review: One of my favorites. The only reason why critics had such a great time bashing this film was because it wasn't Jaws or Close Encounters. But then, a lot of films aren't (1941 DID win two Oscars, you know). This is a very funny film about the (very real) hysteria that gripped the west coast after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and its source material was taken from actual historic events such as the Zoot Suit Riots of 1942 and the paranioa-induced air-raid of LA by non-existant planes. Widescreen is the ONLY way to see this film, and while the director's cut runs a little long (2:20) the added footage makes the story make a lot more sense. The dance scene alone is worth the price of admission.

Summary: Wait for the Blockbusters...
Review: Interesting movie from Spielberg, gets funnier after repeated viewings. The digital transfer leaves a lot to be desired, however. There are plenty of compression artifacts, and the overall look of the DVD is "soft". I'll be first in line when the Raiders series is released, but this is a Spielberg movie you can do without.

Summary: The less known Steven Spielberg Classic!
Review: I loved this movie, especially on DVD. There are several great features, such as the theter cards, as well as artwork/charipictures inspired by the movie. Not to mention a 90 min documentary on the making of the film. The only downside of the movie is that they had to end it. I loved watching John Belushi dogfighting over LA, and the Zoot Suit Riot that breaks out at the Hollywood Bowl. The cameos are plentiful, and if all else fails, this movie is worth it just for the Jaws parody (another Stephen Spielberg classic) that the movie opens with. This movie is AWSOME!!!!!

Summary: Weak but funny movie, terrible DVD
Review: I agree with those who say that this movie, while stupid, is still funny. No one, though, has said how truly bad this DVD is. I have about 150 in my collection, and "1941" is one of the worst for video quality. The print is murky and scratched. Colors are faded. It almost looks as bad as a VHS tapes; in some ways it's worse. On VHS, at least there is the excuse of that being why the quality is bad. On DVD, Universal has only itself to blame. Others in the Universal "Collectors Series", like "Dante's Peak" and "Apollo 13" have been great examples of what DVD can do. I know that "1941" was delayed a couple of times due to production problems. It probably should have been canceled, or at least held up until a full digital restoration could be completed.
