Summary: A Cold War Comedy Classic
Review: This is an "era movie", complete with the necessary visual cliches (spy taking spy pictures from between the legs of a statue, our spies meeting their spies on bridges to exchange things) and verbal cliches ("there are Russian missiles 90 miles off the coast of Florida!", "on a need to know basis").

Matthau and Glenda Jackson work a special chemistry as old CIA operatives shacking up ("do you like antiques?"), conspiring to reveal Agency secrets ("the cigar bomb sent to Castro", etc.)

And the bonus is lovely Salzburg scenery, spiced with lots of Mozart.

Please, PLEASE re-release this video, on DVD!

Summary: A funny look at revenge
Review: I hope the studio releases Hopscotch on video or DVD soon. It's one of Walter Matthau's best films, and the rest of the cast (Glenda Jackson, Ned Beatty, Sam Waterston) are all in top form in this story of an ex-CIA agent getting revenge on his boss. This 1980 comedy would be a welcome addition to anyone's collection of spy, Walter Matthau, or comedy video/DVD's. The way Matthau's character uses an old World War One bi-plane to elude his ex-boss (played by Beatty) harkens back to his performance in Charley Varrick (1973).

Summary: A wonderful comedy
Review: If you like Matthau you'll love this movie. He's an ex CIA agent who decides to "tell all" about the CIA. Nturally they don't want their dirty little secrets aired to the public so the chase is on. Lots of laughs, and a great ending.

Summary: One of the cleverest and fun movies ever
Review: It has everything. Good dialogue, acting and ingenious (somewhat bizarre), fast-moving story. My wife and I wore out our copy years ago and continually check for it's re-release.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Hopscotch is a terrific movie!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Original plot, funny, suspenseful, entertaining, must see!!
Review: Hopscotch is part romance, part adventure, part suspense, part spy, cat-and-mouse fun! In short, it has all the elements of a great picture, including wonderful acting. My mother recorded it for me from cable TV and sent it to me to watch, and inadvertantly recorded over the climax! I have been searching for over 4 years for a copy of this movie, which I know my husband would adore. PLEASE RE-RELEASE!!!

Summary: A most movie for viewing over and over again.
Review: Walter Matthau is sensational as an ousted CIA agent that wants to prove to his new chief that he, Miles, is not as out dated and antiquated as the chief believes him to be. In writing a manuscript of his CIA exploits, Miles tries staying just one step ahead of his CIA and KGB ex-conrades and counterparts permoting some very humorous masterstrokes. This is and absolute most see movie for anyone who has not yet been so graced. A friend of mine has an old copy of this movie that I've been privileged to view twice. I would love another release of this so I could buy a couple copies for myself and several copies for friends. Please do consider another release.
