Summary: Very overrated
Review: This movie is very overated it is probably one of the cheesiest movies I have ever seen. I must say this film got good ratings and I don't know how. The love story is not that good, Leslie Cheung is hardly a man in this movie. If you want to see a good love story get Bride with white hair the best HK movie ever made. I knew this film had little action in it an that is not what turned me off to it. The fact that you (the viewer) does not care about Leslie Cheung at all in this film. I have seen him before in Ashes of Time and Bride with white hair and he has been very charasmatic but not in this film. Another bad aspect of this film is the bad guy/girl. He/she is killing men with a ridiculously long tongue. The special effects are not that bad but the tongue is just very corny. The only bright spot in this film is Joey wang the lovely ghost. Before this film the only other movie i have seen her in is The East is Red. She is very good in both movies. She is haunting as the ghost and you do care about her in this movie. Wu ma is also good in this movie as a Taoist monk, he is a good character. Overall I would not recommend anyone to buy this movie. Cheesy is one word to describe it.

Summary: Funny, sexy & Frightening
Review: This wildly adventurous film tells what complications can ensue when one falls in love with a murderous ghost who has an even more murderous ghost family. The humor ranges from subtle and biting to the broadest of slapstick. The special effects, from a tree demon with the biggest tongue you've ever seen to truley disgusting ghosts are spectacular with the martial arts scenes really over the top. And the ghost...ah, the ghost. Suffice it to say that even if you're not a foot freak you would never believe a ghost could be possessed of such a sexy foot! Highly recommended to those who value a wild romp of imagination.

Summary: Great movie if you can get past a few problems
Review: Well as the title of the review suggests, this is a wonderful story and quite funny also if you can get past a few rough spots. The first problem is the somewhat inaccurate subtitling. I being a anime veiwer am somewhat used to this problem and could xompensate but someone who doesn't have my interest probably just wouldn't get it and therefore probably would miss some key parts of the film. Two as was stated by another reviewer the DVD itself seems at times to be spotty, I mean glitchy. Now don't get me wrong it works fine and all but still it acts up sometimes. Well still even with all this it was a great movie and I heartilly recommend it to anyone who loves HK films in general.

Summary: ...
Review: While I think the concept could have been made into a much better movie, Chinese Ghost Story is an excellent actioner/romance/comedy, boosted by a solid visual style with great special effects that stand up to even some of the better modern cgi works. It's also one of the better HK movies in this sort of genre, and is something anyone who remotely enjoys action movies can appreciate.
