Summary: A great movie that desperately needs to get more noticed
Review: A teenage boy named Angus (Jesse Bradford) gets lost after he and his dad were involved in a major boat crash during a storm at sea. Now it's up to Angus to survive in the vast woodlands with sea all around him, but fortunately, he is keen on survival skills. But that's not all. Not only does Angus have two GREAT parents (Mimi Rogers and Bruce Davison) who refuse to give up on searching for him, he has a new pet dog, Yellow, that stays alongside him and helps tremendously by providing courage and companionship.

"Far From Home - The Adventures of Yellow Dog" is a GREAT movie. Many critics scorched the film by saying that it's predictable and a little cliched. Maybe it is, but so what!?! It's a great family drama that the whole family can sit and watch together time and time again and it's one movie that never gets old.

I don't know about everybody else, but I think "Far From Home - The Adventures of Yellow Dog" is an all-around great movie in every way. Mimi Rogers and Bruce Davison do a spectacular job of acting as great parents would in that situation, Yellow (Dakotah) is a smart dog that has a likable charm, and everybody else in the film does a good job of acting. Just as great is the film itself. There are parts full of suspense, feel-good sequences, and yes, you guessed it, parts that are tear jerkers. Not to mention that a perfect musical score is also included to give "Far From Home - The Adventures of Yellow Dog" an even higher boost.

I've always been a huge fan of almost any kind of drama movie, and the ones about survival are one of my favorite genres of drama. If you want a great family drama to add to your collection, if you're a dog lover, or if you like great survival or drama films in general, do yourself, your family, or whoever a huge favor and purchase "Far From Home - The Adventures of Yellow Dog" today! You will NOT regret it! I hope they make a DVD version of this movie one day.

Summary: Great for young and old
Review: I bought this for my son when he was five years old. I wanted to purchase something that was not a cartoon, but would still fit into his age group. He still watches it at ten years old, and we now have his younger brother joining in. I haven't found anyone who doesn't enjoy this video. His great grandmother even enjoyed it. It is a video good for both young and old alike.

Summary: Far From Home: Adventures of Yellow Dog
Review: I disagree with the reviewers who said the movie was predictable and drawn out. It was a movie with heart and you could feel the main characters plight when he lost his companion. Being an animal lover I was pulling for the happy ending (of Course). I am Disney's biggest fan and I love this movie right along with the others. (P.S. I am a Grandmother to eleven.) Thank heavens for Disney Movies.

Summary: A truly wonderful family film
Review: I would beg to differ with the above description of the film. This is not the typical "A-boy-and-his-pet" film. The story is more realistic than the typical film of its genre such as "Flipper" or "Lassie" and lacks the obvious manipulations of an "Air Bud." The characters look like real people. (Watch how Angus' little brother dresses himself. Anyone who has been around a six-year old can see their child dressing like this). Angus's and Yellow's fight through the wilderness is not glossed over or "Disneyfied." The cinematography is beautiful. This film is wonderful for the whole family, not just for the six-year old.

Summary: Good Family Movie
Review: Our family really enjoys this movie. The story is not terribly predictable and the actors all do a solid job. Beautiful scenery and enough action to keep the little ones engaged. Should be on DVD. We'll add it to our collection.

Summary: The Finest Of Its Kind
Review: Perhaps the best movie of its kind ever made. I have gray hair, and I cried like a baby.
