Summary: Swash and Buckle
Review: Yo, fellow yeopeople. (Must be PC, don't you know!) To sword, to lance, to horse, to buy. Ayup, add this to your collection of SB's. Well worth the placing on your shelves and watching any old time. If for no other reason than to fill out your Sean Conner collection. Do it, buy it. If you don't like it, give it to your library. They can always use good stuff. But, be good to yourself and get it.....cheers

Summary: My Personal Favorite Movie
Review: I am not a professional critic, nor a professional movie "person", but what I do know is that this movie made me sweat from suspense and action...and come to tears from its romance and tragedy. An all around great film and superior acting, I recommend this movie to all.

Summary: A modern film of a classic legend
Review: First Knight is an exciting, interesting movie, and yet one of the dullest things Camelot has seen in a long time. It tells the story of Lancelot, a brave, young man who has a passion for adventure. While in the forest one day, he stumbles across an attack, and something else. He finds the Lady Gwenyvere, who is engaged to be married to King Arthur of Camelot. Lancelot and the Lady fall in love, but Gwenyvere will not admit it. After all, she is a soon-to-be queen, and engaged to a very powerful man. The film becomes one of both internal and external conflict. Camelot is fighting the evil Prince Malagant while Arthur battles with the fact that his queen is in love with a knight. I think this movie was both good and bad. The plot was very exciting, and I actually enjoyed watching this film. While Sean Connery played a wonderful King Arthur, Richard Gere wasn't quite fit for the role of Lancelot. I also noticed several flaws in the editing of this film. For example, in the final battle for Camelot, Lancelot picks up the same exact sword twice. In viewing a film, this sort of thing gets on my nerves. But don't get me wrong. First Knight is an entertaining film, and I encourage everyone to see it. It's really too bad that a great film had to be overshadowed by faulty editing and Richard Gere's odd acting.

Summary: DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR!
Review: If it bothered you so much that it didn't follow exactly the legend of King Arthur and Camelot, that's your hang-up. I myself give it a FIVE for originality! Sean Connery and Richard Gere both brilliantly portray real men with their courage, passion, honesty and perseverence, yet are not above treating sweet, lovable, approachable (and drop-dead gorgeous!) Julia Ormond like the Queen that she is. Ben Cross also gets kudos for his vivid portrayal of the chilling villain Malagant. Death before dishonor! Our own president should have such virtues!

Summary: Different doesnt always mean worse
Review: All you Arthur / Camelot followers, please watch this movie and understand, THIS is quite possibly the most realistic version you will ever see. No Merlin... No Magic No Dragons. Its a realistic view of what Camelot would of been like. NOT some fairy tale mother Goose impression. Hate to down all you people, because I really like the Legend, but a different interpretation should not be downed solely for that. Gere was OK, Julia was good, Sean was great (as usual) Ben Cross is a natural. The costumes, the scenic views were great. There was nothing wrong with this movie. Besides the fact it is a different interpretation (which is why it gets low reviews, not because of its TRUE movie worth) its a must buy.

Summary: Magnificent movie!
Review: The uniqueness of this film is what makes it so brilliant. King Arthur (Sean Connery) in his older years, looks forward to peace and easier days. And his life long dream is about to come true. Marriage to the lovely Lady Guinevere (Julia Ormand) of Leonese. But the power hungery evil ex-knight of the round table Malagant (Ben Cross) wishes to rule Camelot and shatters the Kings dreams of peace. He attacks the people of Leonese and burns their homes and kills their people. Lady Guinevere travels to Camelot to be wed to King Arthur and is ambushed by Malagant's men. She escapes into the woods where she is saved by Lancelot (Richard Gere). Who falls in love with Lady Guinevere and swears to win her heart. King Arthur gives his Lady a magnificent welcome and as they top the hill overlooking Camelot the view is breathtaking. Lancelot wins the heart of King Arthur through his fearless run through the legendary gauntlet. And is asked to stay in Camelot. This movie is full of adventure and was a refreshing addition to the legends of King Arthur. I loved Richard Gere as Sir Lancelot, he did a great job as a swordsman and knight. I bought the DVD version of this movie. I loved it...great movie!

Summary: Bad movie, worse DVD
Review: This movie was an insult to the Arthur legend. I knew that in the theatre. But then my girlfriend bought the DVD (she loved the movie) and I sat down to watch it again.

It was worse the second time through! At least the first time I got into the costumes and stuff. But this time, even Sean Connery was bad. This film was worse than Dragonheart.

And as a DVD? Useless waste of a 10 cent disc. "Bonus" materials? None. And the improved picture and sound quality do nothing to make the movie any better.

Summary: Nice costumes, but not much else.
Review: One more King Arthur movie and the story has been pretty much milked dry. First Knight makes do with the remains and it shows. Forget about the myths, the sorcery and anything else that has anything to do with the round table. Instead First Knight centres it's attention on the triangle-relationship Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere, or rather Connery, Gere and Ormond. As long as you take the movie at face-value it could be worse. It looks spectacular. (especially the battle scenes and entrances and exits from castles, showing the costumes off to great effect) The three leads play there part well, particularly Connery, who makes and older man's love for a much younger woman quite believable and the long-range landscape shots are a sight to behold. But there it ends. The plot is as thin as it comes, just a one-hundred minute excuse to let Gere replace Connery. Even worse, there is no real enemy! Ben Cross, as the blackhearted Mallagant (What happened to Mordred?) tries to make the most of his role, but he has nothing to work with. He has no character, no motives, no real purpose, he is just evil. An other annoyance can be found in the sword play. I have become used to seeing a fencing scenes speeded up, but this is really too much. The final battle between Lancelot and Mallagant has been accelerated so much, that it lookes like a cheap manga, with puppets making short, stilted movements. I understand, that this is supposed to make Richard Gere look like a real swordslinger, but it only makes him look like a show-off. If you want medieval action, better stick with movies like Ladyhawke, or Kevin Costner's Robin Hood. If You are interested in Arthur's Camelot, watch Excalibur.

Summary: Amazing movie, a MUST see!
Review: I rented this movie one night, and the next morning I rushed out to buy it. If you enjoy medieval movies, like Braveheart, you are sure to love this one. I am not one for mystical movies with wizards or unicorns etc. so I am very thankful to the writers of this movie for leaving that part of the legend out. The acting in this movie is great, but thats no surprise seeing as it has Richard Gere, Sean Connery and Julia Ormond in it. There were only a few small things that I found wrong with this movie, one is when Lancelot is rescuing Guinevere from that old falling apart castle. When those 3 (i think) of Malegant's fall into that pit, I find that looks very unrealistic. Too fake. The other small mistakes I find are just with the dialogue. This movie is great because those of you who cringe at the sight of gore or blood have no need to fear. This movie includes no unnecessary gore, and no nusity at all. When you're watching, be sure to watch Lancelots sword after he defeats Malagant in the court. Gere must have broken the sword, as there is only about an inch of blade on it! Enjoy!

Summary: I'm Baaaaack!
Review: Goodness gracious! Little did I know that kitch had so many devoted fans! C'mon guys (girls actually, I can't think of one guy who watches this movie as an addiction.)

This movie is just sad, very very sad. It has all the emotional depth of a 10 cent romance novel and is about as historically accurate.

Do not, I repeat, do not believe the spiel about it not REALLY being about Camelot but a new spin or something. If they had wanted to make a movie about different character they should have used, well, different characters.

The "a movie doesn't NEED to be historically accurate so long as it has Richard Ge- I mean as long as it is about complex emotional haminess" theory just does NOT hold water.

This MOVIE should be put in "a place of forgetting".

Let the war begin. Me? I'll side with Malegant, he has modern crossbows.
