Summary: The 747 that went nowhere
Review: "'Turbulence', you are not cleared for takeoff." Those should have been the words from the control tower for this movie and kept a 747 grounded for a more useful (and cost savings) flight. The plot was dilluted, providing that only stupidity had created the problem. Personally I had a tough time viewing this video because it was tiresome and long. There was no plot, except like "Airport 75" and "Executive Decision" where both 747's have gone crewless and the plane this time lands by the computer Insturment Landing System (ILS).

Summary: Ladies and Gentlemen... Fasten your seatbelts and hold on
Review: A near empty Boeing 747 is heading to Los Angeles on Christmas. A few passengers are prisoner transports who managed to escape the cuffs during a lavatory break. Randy Weaver (Ray Liotta) bluffs to help out the warden then turns to psychotic ways. The crew is dead, some passengers are locked up in the rear crew bunk, and one stewardess (Lauren Holly) saves the plane. "Turbulence" is the updated version mixed with plots from "Airport 75," "ConAir" and "Mayday at 28,000 Feet" A flick of wind sheer suspense, thriller and an explanation to Department of Corrections why prisoners should not be allowed on commercial flights.

Summary: This movie is probably in everybodys Worst Movies Top 10
Review: Acting - lame. Story - lame. This is one of those Hollywood movies, where after 10 minutes you can predict exactly what's going to happen. This story is really, really stupid and childish. I got this DVD for free, but I still feel cheated because of my wasted time. :-(

Summary: Not THAT Bad
Review: Admittedly TURBULENCE suffers from a woeful lack of originality, which caused it to be a flop as a big Christmas theatrical release. But it does have an atmosphere that is, at times, effectively creepy. For example: the dead bodies sliding around the 747's cabin in the storm provide truly chilling visuals. This could be an old ghost ship at sea, its crew dead, the auto-pilot replacing the rope tied to the wheel to keep the bow pointed into the wind.

I don't know why the reviewers here have slammed the acting and effects. The performances are NOT wooden and the special effects ARE well done. Ray Liotta is gleefully maniacal and Lauren Holly is likeable and attractive. The climax at LAX is suspenseful.

I think one reason many people don't enjoy this movie is because of unmet expectations based on genre. People go in expecting something along the lines of AIRFORCE ONE, yet TURBULENCE is 75% psychological drama and 25% action-special-effects thriller. I personally enjoyed the cat and mouse games between the Liotta and Holly characters, but understand how others might find their conversations makes the film seem "talky."

It's certainly not a great film, but it's not THAT bad!

Summary: I Liked It!
Review: Although some of the reviews on here are less than flattering, I enjoyed this movie.

As a Flight Attendant, I like any airline related movies. This one was really good. Actually, for me it is one of those that you watch again and again until you can literally recite the lines.

If you like Air Force One, Passenger 57, etc. then you will probably enjoy turbulence.

Another GREAT one is called Free Fall. It airs on Fox Family.

Summary: Pure Action!
Review: At first, Ryan Weaver looked and acted as if he were innocent of the crimes he had been accused of. Just don't make him mad!

If the part of Ryan Weaver had been played by anyone other than Ray Liotta, this movie would have gone down in a big ball of flames. Ray Liotta was PERFECT for this role. He can play "charming". He can play "innocent". He can also play "psychotic"!

I loved it when he said, "Sure you could probably reach it, but could you use it? Can you kill? I started with birds and squirrels, and moved up to cats and girls."

The intensity in his eyes, the feeling in his voice, I didn't know whether to be afraid or fall in love!

Summary: Just keep the bird Grounded
Review: Boeing 747's are becoming more actors than air transport carriers. This movie is predictable and unconvincing when a prisoner break free in the aircraft, seizes the guard's gun and runs on a mixed emotions terror spree.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Unoriginal, but fun to watch.
Review: Crazy killer takes control of airplane, flight attendant has to take care of him and land the plane. It is a familiar plot, but in Turbulence it has been given some extra zest. The grafic are good, the dialogue better than usual and the acting by Ray Liotta and Holly Hunter is outstanding. Especially Liotta ( one of hollywoods most underestimated actors ) does a great job as the psychopath, who transforms from a rather likeable person to a homicidal maniac.

Summary: Good but unoriginal!
Review: Does anyone else smell AIRPORT 1975 when watching this movie? I sure do. "Oh God there's no pilot! I'm a flight attendant who has to fly the plane." While a hole in the plane is replaced by a loose maniac (Ray Liotta) running around trying to kill attendant Lauren Holly throughout the movie, the movie does offer some good action. Good special effects and a somewhat good storyline kept me going. Airplane disaster movie fans will find it appeasing.

Summary: B-class shocker that could have been much better...
Review: First of all, this movie is not as bad as many people said and not as dumb as you would appreciate from the storyline (which I'm sure you know). I saw it for the first time yesterday on TV and that's what it's good for - Friday night chill-out, when you don't want to think of anything, just sit before the TV, nearly falling asleep and concentrating on something that doesn't make you wonder what's going to happen next.

There's only one point where the movie fails. After watching it I wondered that it could have been done much better with this cast. We all know Ray Liotta and he's the perfect psycho - though this time a bit overplayed - anyway not annoyingly. Lauren Holly is cute and from the shy stewardess she becomes the 'captain' and an Amazon - she made her part absolutely believable. The rest is OK, too.

This movie could have been a perfect shocker - two people on a plane in a turbulence (a killer and a possible victim) - and only one can survive or both die. The director didn't take advantage of the claustrophobic setting and thrilled the audience only with the usual clichés - which are absolutely boring as we all know them. Would he have had a little fantasy, with this cast he could have directed a much better movie.

Anyway, it's not that bad and for a lazy Friday evening this is a good movie, if you don't expect too much and switch off the IQ switch in your brain - that's what Fridays are for :)).
