Summary: the sweetest thing I know
Review: I've seen/heard some mixed reviews on this black love story, but all in all people get it and they really feel it...it's nice to see african-americans represent "black love"...Nia Long and Larenz Tate did an excellent job and the accompanying soundtrack is off the chain as well...the movie is all good and like other reviewers have said it didn't get the marketing and publicity that it should have gotten...

this movie came out a while back when the "gansta/thug life" movies were coming out and people were flocking to the theaters to see our people get shot up, act up and just act plain ghetto, but that's a whole other story....

Love Jones definitely should be added to your video collection...the movie just keeps it real as far as the characters, the dialogue, and plot...a must have for anyone who loves romance

Summary: I've Got The "Jones" For This Movie
Review: My reveiw may be bias due to the fact that I am a HUGE Larenz Tate fan! However, in and of itself this movie represents a positive vibe and depicts African-Americans in an ambitious and non-violent manner! I think the chemistry between Nia and Larenz was magical and their storyline was realistic in the sense that once a person experiences the "love jones" you can never completely shake that person from your system. In my opinion this movie spearheaded the poetry craze that started in jazz cafes and underground spots all over the country. The movie demonstrated that poetry can be sexy, romantic and mysterious. Kudos to this urban love story!

Summary: a REAL love story
Review: this movie is amazing, and i really really like it. it was so cool and so intresting, and it kept me in full attention the entire time. i really like the acting, direction, and the more then believable story line. nia long, my personal favorite actress steals the show with her beautiful portrial of nina in the movie.

i think that we can all reflect upon this situation, because i think that we all have that person as a close friend that we wish was something more, and this movie takes this fantasy into mind. i think that people will really enjoy this movie and i think that everyone should see it.

Summary: A Poetic Masterpiece!
Review: Depending on your level of maturity will define whether or not you grasped what this movie was saying. When that love jones gets you...you're hooked. No matter where you go or who you're with, once you've been gotten...it's for good. The poetic theme was refreshing and entertaining and Nia and Larenz's chemistry was right on time. If you have Love Jones on VHS it's time to get the DVD because this joint is a keeper!

Summary: LOOOOVE JONES, I GOT A LOOOVE JONES FOR YOU........
Review: I love this movie..It was refreshing to see a movie where young african-americans are intelligent and know how to enjoy themselves by forming relationship with their loved ones and their friends. Nia Long and Larenz Tate are the ultimate '90s couple. They love, break up, contemplate, miss, and reconcile with each other. Add to that the drama of their friends lives and drama and you have a excellent movie. Definitely buy the soundtrack. They need more movies like this one. The poetry readings are sensual, thoughtful and mesmerizing. Buy this movie!

Summary: Good cinematography, bad plot
Review: The visuals in this picture were very well done, as well as the direction but there was no plot. None at all. Just two people acting very childish and stupid. If that was supposed to be the point, well it was totally lost on me. There was no real growth in the characters. They seemed just as shallow in the end as they were in the beginning. They really didn't deserve to get together in the end, I was totally bored and unmoved.

Summary: Great Love Story
Review: I enjoyed this movie because it was an positive look into African American Culture. I also, enjoyed the strong Chicago setting. As a Chicago native, the use of the city as a back drop for the moving was moving and on point. The writer and directors were able to capture the true essence of Chicago while giving the movie mass appeal. The story line was funny, passionate and real. the connection between Larenz Tate and Nia Long was amazing. Also, the supporting cast was very well acted. The movie does an excellent job in showing love and how it can make you crazy.

Summary: Interesting but slow
Review: Cute and easy movie about buppie love, but slow and boring.

Summary: Truly Mirrors Modern Black Love and Life.
Review: Like the beautiful soundtrack that accompanies it, "Love Jones" is unlike anything modern audiences have seen in quite some time. Thank God someone finally got it right! While the 2 leads would have been more satisfying had they been played by better actors (Larenz Tate is just not a strong enough presence to be a romantic leading man, and Nia Long plays the EXACT SAME WOMAN in every movie she appears in!), the cinematography, script, and superb supporting cast more than make up for the weakness of the the stars. Chief among the supporting players are: The lucious Lisa Nicole Carson, a hilarious Bill Bellamy, and the always satisfying Isiah Washington. Don't view "love jones" simply on 'good date movie' terms, but view it for the modern masterpiece that it is; it depicts African Americans as what we really are, Intelligent, Educated, Driven, Upwardly Mobile, Romantic, witty, Creative, Mutli-dimensional and Complex people. Essential Viewing.

Summary: A couple you don't root for
Review: A young woman decides to test her man's devotion by telling him she's going to an old boyfriend for a few weeks. Apparently she wants him to get upset and forbid her. But he plays it cool and lets her. The result is a year long separation. Eventually they get together again. But I didn't root for them to make it this time, because they are just so childish and annoying. Why would they play a stupid game like that with each other?
