Summary: Season 3 is better this time around
Review: Season 3 of the Transformers was filled with space battles and power struggles, not seen in the previous two seasons. In season 1 and season 2, the Autobots have an unquestioned leader (Optimus Prime), while there is leadership struggles withing the Decepticon ranks (Starscream vs Megatron). In season 3, the roles among the factions have been reversed. The Decepticons now have an unquestioned leader (Galvatron), while the Autobots have a leader who struggles with his own desire to lead (Rodimus Prime).

Themes of choices, birth, death, spirituality, true calling, teamwork, and life's meaning are introduced in this season. Although the writing in this season is fairly good, some storylines are in conflict with eachother. The animation and restoration efforts are pretty good, even though there are a few errors, and the "Original Broadcast Audio" on the DVD sounds great!

I highly recommend Season 3 Part 1, and I am already looking forward to Season 3 Part 2 & Season 4. If you want to see the true heart and soul of the Transformers at their finest, this is the DVD for you.

Summary: Season 3 is utter disappointment compared to Season 1 or 2
Review: The writers of the Transformers series should be ashamed for the sorry and rather stupid episodes of Season 3. Interesting characters such as Shockwave, Grapple, Hoist, and Skyfire (who seem to speak with an advanced vocabulary) are nowhere to be found. Instead, irritating characters such as Blur, Wheelie, Blaster, and Wreck-Gar seem to drag the series down with extremely childish expressions and pointless plots. Gone are the imaginative themes that revolved around ideas such as the "Transfixatron," "Space Bridge," "Solar Power Tower," and the "Golden Lagoon."

Storywise, there is nothing to this season at all. The Decepticons have no set agenda and the Autobots seem to simply chase them. The Decepticons do not seem interested in stealing energy to rule the universe. Instead, they just fly around space for no particular reason. In the first series, the Transformers could not even go into space without the aid of a master spaceship, Skyfire, or Omega Supreme. In this season, Ultra Magnus, Powerglide, and Perceptor simply fly around outer space on their own. What gives?? The animation errors are even worse because in one particular fight scene (The forever irritating "Carnage in C Minor"), Autobot "Brawn" is seen fighting side by side with "Bonecrusher" against Galvatron's rocket propelled iceball in deep space!? Wasn't Brawn "killed" in the movie?

Also, Galvatron seems more intent on "killing" the Autobots than anything else, and there are more references to "death" in this series. Isn't this a tv program aimed at children? I don't recall Megatron ever saying the word "dead" in reference to Autobots. Come to think of it, Skeletor and Cobra Commander never did either toward their enemies.

I fully understand why the transformers merchandise failed miserably after the movie. The interesting characters vanished from the series, and stupid characters suddenly appeared to replace them. Also, the toy structures of the movie and season 3 transformers are quite pathetic when compared to the Season 1 and 2 transformers. Season 3 transformer toys are pure plastic, and lack the die cast metal and intricate details of their predecessors. Attention to detail might have saved this otherwise great toy line.

Summary: I waited for what seemed like forever for Season 3!!!
Review: I don't know just what it is, but I love this season. Maybe it's Galvatron's craziness. "No, it's music, the anthem of agony, and the symphony of destruction!" Maybe it's watching Rodimus's carefree attitude as a leader. "Just once, can't your attitude reflect the gravity of the situation," asked Magnus. "Not if I can help it!" replied Rodimus. It could be the wrecklessness of Grimlock, the fearless and sarcastic Springer, or the best Autobot never to get a toy (Arcee). Admittedly this season has some horrible episodes. (The Killing Jar and Surprise Party come to mind) There are also some very good ones. I love Five Faces of Darkness, Dark Awakening and Forever is A Long Time Coming are good. My personal favorite in this set is probably Webworld. Here you are shown the true extent of Galvatron's madness. I just love the background music that plays as Galvatron seeks to destroy the planets core. This particular score becomes very prominent in the second half of season 3. They play it during the climactic moments and it really seems to enhance and add excitement to the show.

Do yourself a huge favor and pick this up today! It doesn't quite offer the nostalgia of the first two seasons (which are also well worth owning) but it has a charm and a uniqueness all its own. With appearances from favorites as Optimus Prime, Jazz, Bumblebee, and Starscream, you really can't go wrong. Also if anyone would like to see any of the Japanese Transformers series in a boxset, visit Rhino's website and click on the Transformers link to access the poll. If enough of us vote for it, then maybe we will get it!

Summary: Transformers still rocks after all these years!
Review: "Starscream!" exclaimed Octane. "Why, Octane, I'm touched that you remembered me!" replied Starscream. ( voice actor Chris Latta ). Hi all fellow Transformers fans! Transformers season 3 is cool! ( Although my favourites were season 1 and 2 ) Season 3 is ok. My favourite episodes were a lot, like 'Dark Awakening', 'Starscream's Ghost', 'Ghost in the machine' and so on. My favourite character in Transformers is Starscream, the Decepticon jet who seeks to overthrown Megatron as leadership. I am most excited in season 3 because Starscream is back! ( After he was blasted into pieces by Galvatron in the Movie ) Season 3 is where the Autobots were led by Rodimus Prime while Galvatron leading the Decepticons. ( I still prefer Optimus Prime and Megatron ... ) I am very impressed with the show and I urged all to buy it from Amazon.com! by the way, I like most season 3 episode's background music. Transformers background music score was done by Robert W Walsh. I wish he can release CDs of the Transformers cartoon background music because I find the music the best! ( I still hum those good old tunes till now! ) One of my favourite background music is the battle theme, the one when Kup finally battles the monster Chaos. The music is really cool! If I were to rate the shows of Transformers... I give 10 stars out of 5! Long live Transformers!

Summary: Glad to have the Series, but it's edited...
Review: I LOVED this series. This was my "thing" as a kid. I have no problem buy the DVDs, and I am throughly happy that the G1 is now available to watch. I occasionally show them to my little brother, and he likes them.

My only, and biggest, complaint is that the the episodes are EDITTED! I just realized it when I bought my Season 3, pt 1. There were a few scenes in the recaps to "Five Faces of Evil" that I noticed were not in the episodes before it. It also happenned in Season 2, part 2. I know there were scenes in "The Key to Vector Sigma" and "Bruticus's Revenge" for sure that were trimmed.

Bad form Rhino.

Summary: Shedding Some Light On Our Darkest Hour pt. 1
Review: As a hardcore transfan, I agree with some of my compariots in the matter that this was in no way the best season. I've been waiting to speak out on this season for a long time and now I have the chance to do it. First, I am writing this because I think when I summited my review the first time I did it wrong, or whatever, anyway. This not a bad collection, the quality is great and a must have for those of you collecting the DVD collections. But there are some things that just infuriate me about this season and that is the animation. As I have read, I have learned of some the problems that Sunbow went through during the time of production of this season, which is a little releiving. Back to the animation, almost half was terrible and not only was it bad, but there were so many mistakes, especially in the first five episodes(the animation on those episodes was not bad, but there were so many mistakes it angered me). I hope that I am not the only one that feels this way. To make the situation better, some of the writing was just crappy, I mean it really was. Then toss in the continuity mistakes and dead characters showing up who are not around any more and then some voice mistakes, but it is not the end of the world, hopefully. The worst being: "Starscreams Ghost", "Surprise Party", "Madman's Paradise", "The Quintession Journal", "Grimlocks New Brain", and "Dark Awakening". But, it is all in the past, right? You see I think some of the best episodes of the entire show were in the third season. Although, that is for when part two comes out on sale and so I will have something talk about on my next review. What makes part two even better than being the final part in the collection of the show is that "Rebirth" will be included(which is one of the best storylines ever). After all, I prefer the post movie characters than the originals(it is even better when you mix some the best originals with the post characters)and that is why I love "Rebirth" and season three as a whole so much. I hope at least someone learned something from this and I hope that some other hardcore transfans will contact me. Just please know what you're talking about before you attempt to contact me, I'm kinda like that. But, if you ask me, it doesn't get any better than the Victory series which unfortunately wasn't released here just like the other two series. Life just ain't fair it seems, farwell.

Summary: Season 3 Part 2 and Season 4
Review: Look at the last page of the booklet. It shows the cover for the
box set of Season 3 Part 2 and Season 4.

Quit whining and begging for season 4 because it will be there.

Summary: Shedding Some Light On Our Darkest Hour pt.1
Review: I've been waiting a long time to speak out on the third season and I must say as a hardcore transfan, it was not the best. But have some faith, for there is a light at the end of the road. Lets get the bad out so we can then focus on the very good aspects of this collection. The one thing that totally infuriates me is the animation mistakes(you hardcore diehards know what I mean, like autobots flying, characters that are dead showing up, incorrect transformations, etc.). It is the worst in the first five episodes of the season. I mean doesn't make you mad? But, it was not just mistakes, some of the animation (almost half) was just bad. Add in some crappy writing and you've got yourself a problem. To go from the movie(which was beyond greatness and one of my favorite movies of all time) to this, it seemed to be an injustice of sorts. I also believe that the quintesson threat was overplayed, again and again. But if you ask me, I just can't get over the whole animation thing. If you want to known the worst episodes of the whole season, here they are: "Starscream's Ghost", "Surprise Party", "Madman's Paradise", "Grimlocks New Brain", among a few more others(I'm a little sick of complaining so I will leave it at that). Fortunately, the good outweighs the bad. Out of all the characters, my favorites are the post movie transformers. That is why "Rebirth" is one of my favorite episodes and from what I hear alot of other people like it too, which is no surprise. So as you have guessed I am very upset that they did not continue the fourth season(I mean they still had the comic and the toys, so why not the show). Also, the third season boasts some of the best episodes of the entire show. The best being: "Chaos", "Call of the Primitives", "The Ultimate Weapon", "Money Is Everything", "Ghost In the Machine", "Fight or Flee", "Dweller In the Depths", "The Return of Optimus Prime pts.1-2", "Carnage In C-Minor", "The Burden Hardest to Bare", and "Nightmare Planet". This is an excellent buy and I hope you are a little more informed about the first part of the season. Until season three part two, farewell.

Summary: "The Matrix" is a knock off the Transformers Season III?
Review: The Third Season was a great improvement in the Transformers Storyline. The maturity of the writers can be seen. Which create more interesting plots for each episode. You see that "The Matrix" had many similar issuess to the The Transformers. I guest you could also say the Transformers borrow some ideas from "Macross". In Season I & II most of the plots were based on the Decepticon stealing energy and the Autobot coming in to save the day. Now there is a continuous plot from episode to episode. The history of the Autobot and Decepticon can be seen in the Five-faces of Darkness. Issues about insanity, betrayal counter motives, and love are elements in the plot. The settings and the environments are now more diverse with a lot of science fiction that is enjoyable rather then the isolated baron setting of the desert and power plant. The storyline is impelling, since it moves very fast. More new characters are added. We can see stronger character development. The Autobot are actual stronger now then before with Sky Lynx, Ultra Magnus, and Broadside tipping the scale. Grimlock is as funny as a stupid Barney. The annoying weakling Bumblebee and Spike are less of a factor, but there is Spike's son. Galvatron is more powerful the Megatron, but his rashness holds the Deception back from triumph. The image quality is better then the first two seasons, but not even close to the Transformers the Movies. There are cell errors, where an Aerialbot is in a Decepticon attack group and some small glitches. What I am disappointed about this DVD is it is only 2 full DVDs and 2 episodes on the 3rd. Other DVD collections in the series are at least 3.5 DVD long. Some episodes actually are shorter so they added a small 2-4 min. summary at the end. Inferno and many characters from second season are gone. If you are a true Transformers fan you will get it regardless of what people say. If you are a casual fan the First season is the first to get, since a lot is going on in this season that might throw you off.

Summary: So long...Prime
Review: Well I just got it on the whole I was impressed although I was surpirsed that there was one in there I had never seen or don't remeber. Of course seeing the new session first I had not yet seen the movie I was shocked by the disapperance of Optimus Prime. But as the serise went on I begain to enjoy Rodimus. The only real problem I had was with Dark Awakening they stuck it in awkwardly since the ending instead of putting in the orginal they put in the one that makes the anoucment of The Return Of Optimus Prime yet the next show is Surpise Party and no show known as The Return of Optimus Prime that is shown on the entire DVD of course I know that the show will be done on the next set of DVDs but it can be pretty confusing for a first timer.
