Summary: I'm Being Generous Here...
Review: I'm an enormous Argento fan and was recommended Fulci's "The Beyond". Listen up: Not all Italian horror maestroes are the same. I am a huge fan of gore (especially that involving eyeball gouging), so after reading tons of reviews, I thought "The Beyond" would be perfect for my collection. Not so. Sure, there are several incredibly well done scenes (the nail-in-the-eyeball gets 5 stars from me), but there are many, many terrible ones. The score was fantastic, the story was great, and the atmosphere was perfect for a classic gorefest.... but something was missing. Fulci had a great thing going with the taratulas... I'm even willing to overlook the visible strings on the puppet spiders... but the scene where Emily had her throat torn out by her dog made me want to cut my credit cards in half. If you want to see the truly fabulous parts of the movie, try to find Necrophagia's video (its mentioned above). Summary: some great stills, but the movie is just too tiring to watch.

Summary: Absolute Rubbish
Review: I don't know why people are saying this film is fantastic. It is complete rubbish, unless you think an eyeball piercing scene is worth 20 pounds sterling. For a start the FX are poor: the spiders look like pipe cleaners (I laughed out loud when I saw them), the zombies AREN'T day of the dead quality (hardly any gore) and the whole plot is just rubbish with super-bad acting. IF YOU ARE EXPECTING A FILM ALONG THE LINE OF THE ROMERO "DEAD" MOVIES, YOU WILL BE SORELY DISAPPOINTED. I gave this movie away a week after I bought it, yes it is that bad.

Summary: The Ultimate in Italian horror!
Review: Italian horror master " Lucio Fulci" has co-written and directed this 1981 supernatural horror thriller about a beautiful rich woman who inherites a hotel that has a dark secret, that's it is haunted by evil spirits, she unleashes the spirits accidently into Louisana with forces of evil around and only she can find a book that can stop these demonic forces. A highly entertaining and original shocker that is simply Fulci's greatest flick and his masterpiece, it's got everything like Zombies, Ghosts, accidents, cursed hotels, Flesh-eating Spiders and more to amuse and repulse you. It's also totally scary and has a twist in the end, A must see if you love Horror and good ghost stories.

The DVD is stunning in every way, it's got excellent picture and sound quality to give viewers the chills, extras like audio commentary, Trailers, Poster and Still gallery, rare interview with Fulci, and a cheesy music video. This is a must own movie if your a genre fan, highly recommended but not for light sleepers!

Also recommended: Dawn of the Dead, Poltergeist, Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky, Zombie, City of the Living Dead ( a.k.a The Gates of Hell), House by The Cemetery, Final Destination, The Shining, Event Horizon, The Sixth Sense, Maniac ( 1980), Hellraiser, Roland Emmerich's Making Contact, A Nightmare on Elm Street, An american Werewolf in London, Suspiria, The Fog, Ghostbusters, Dead Alive, Total Recall, Return of the Living Dead 3, The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, From Dusk Till Dawn, Nightmare City, Pet Cemetery, Thir13een Ghosts, House ( 1986), Rabid Grannies, Idle Hands, Stir of Echoes, Blood Diner, Tenebre, Phenomena, Deep Red, The Others, Phantasm, Scanners, Day of the Dead, The Gate ( 1987), The Toxic Avenger, House on Haunted Hill ( 1999 and Original), Let Sleeping Corpses Lie and Resident Evil.

Summary: Very Good DVD
Review: This movie was brilliant, from top to bottom. From a movie that was turned into an awful video release, Rolling Pictures and Grindhouse Releasing really did a great job with restoring the movie to its original form. The picture looked great, the score was upfront, and the effects were in place. It would've been better if they would've had an isolated track score on the DVD, but who cares? It is also worthy of looking at the extras, they are great. Again, thanks to Rolling Pictures and Grindhouse Releasing for doing a fantastic job.

Summary: fulci's best
Review: I just finished whatching a video cassete of this movie(under the title "seven doors of death") although the copy was very old and both picture and sound were in bad condition I was still blown away by this movie. This is prob my fav euro horror movie right along with "suspiria" its gory enough for gore hounds and chilling enough for ppl who like content in their horror films, I reccomend this to anyone who appreciates good horror.

Summary: A True Landmark in Horror Cinema
Review: I am a fan of great movies. I especially enjoy a good horror movie.
I've watched The Beyond 5 times over the past 2 months and it just gets better and better.

The Beyond is simply put, incredible.
This is a study in horror-surrealism.
If you are looking for a mainstream horror experience, this film is not for you. If you are looking for a terrifying work of art, then you will enjoy.
BR>The cinematography, sound, FX, and elements of setting are excellent.
Truly disturbing and well-done.

Bravo Mr. Fulci, you have accomplished your goal by scaring the hell out of me and giving me nightmares.Thank you.

Summary: Best Fulci Next To Zombie!
Review: This film is an epic. If you know nothing of Italian horror and don't understand why plots sometimes don't make sense or don't like cheezy gore then don't watch it. It is a fantastic film and other than Zombie it is probably Fulci's best. The ending is very creepy as someone earlier stated who only gave it a 2 star rating, but he obviously doesn't understand the genre. Best example, watch Dario Argento's "Suspiria", pay no attention to the plot but watch it for the cinematography, the use of lighting and death sequences. Pure Magic! John Carpenter once said he wished he could kill people as beautifly as Argento did in "Suspiria". So in all, if you have seen some Italian Horror films, and haven't seen this one, watch it. Then wait a day and watch it again, the second time through will probably make more sense and you'll truly see the genre for what it really is.

Summary: I can't understand all the hype
Review: This movie could easily be a *1/2, not a full **. I watched it last night, and other than a fairly good beginning, and a creepy end, the movie was not enjoyable. I fast forwarded through most of it, and if you read the other single and double star reviews, i agree with all of their arguments. Low budget gore just for the sake of it, with mostly poor acting, and plot holes large enough to drive a truck through. I actually like the idea of what COULD have happened with the vagueness, the subtle magic, but such details were lost by the director. If this is the BEST they have to offer, i consider myself lucky for never having seen the others.
I guess i just like my horror with a little more wit, and this will be the last fulci film i ever watch.

Summary: Ehhhhh.... I have to be honest...
Review: I've always seems to be dissapointed by Lucio Fulci films. So far I've seen "The Gates of Hell","Zombie",and "The Beyond."I know that's nothing compared to what he's released, but it's not good to get off on a bad foot.
Anyways, The Beyond starts out well, and ends well, but going the whole way through in between can just get kinda... boring. It takes place in present day, where a woman wants to start a Hotel in some suburban area, she buys, rents, leases, whatever a huge 2 story house, and yes, it has been built over some old mine where a man was tortured, killed, and crucified decades earlier. The Gates of Hell are about to open and no one can stop it (if you've seen "gates of hell" you've seen "the beyond.")
Zombies walk, people are killed along the way, and then it ends. I didn't really like it just because it just wasn't very scary. The funky church/opera type music didn't help at all to tense up the atmosphere, it more or less ruined it (Fulci seems to use this music type in all his films and it never seems to work). The gore was pretty good, but too low budget to produce anything really lifelike or wretched. It was lacking in that department as well.
The extras: well, they too were kinda boring, yea a few trailers that showed the same scenes over and over, nothing special. A public interview with Lucio Fulci himself which I found boring,a nd some still shots.
Overall, the extras are extras, whatever. The movie itself has a "been there, seen that" premise and drabby mood all the way through. It starts out well, but towards the end really didn't leave much desired.

Summary: WAS I AMONG THE FEW THAT WATCHED THIS..I THOUGHT IT REEKED!!
Review: SOONER OR LATER I'LL BECOME AN ITALIAN HORROR HATER. LITTLE CAN PREPARE ONE FOR SUCH GARBAGE. I LOVE HORROR, HOWEVER I DON'T LOVE THIS. THE REAL HORROR IS HOW POORLY THIS WAS MADE. AND HOW I WASTED MY HARD EARNED MONEY & VALUABLE TIME ON THIS. IF YOUR ANYTHING LIKE ME YOU MAY LIKE TO TAKE CHANCES ON MOVIES THAT APPEAR TO BE WORTHY. YOU THINK "HOW BAD COULD IT BE?", "AM I MISSING OUT BY NOT GIVING THIS MOVIE A GO?".. I DO THIS ALOT, & ALOT OF THE TIME I FEEL GOOD ABOUT MY PURCHASE AND I ADD IT TO MY COLLECTION WITH PRIDE. WELL FOLKS THIS ONE WAS NOT ADDED TO MY LIBRARY. INSTEAD I PARTED WITH IT AND FELT A LITTLE GUILTY, CUZ SOMEONE ELSE MAY SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ON IT, FOLLOWED BY THEIR VALUABLE TIME. I HOPE IT WASN'T YOU. IF YOU COME ACROSS A MOVIE CALLED "THE SEVEN DOORS TO DEATH" AVOID IT, IT'S THE SAME MOVIE WITH A DIFFERENT NAME.
