Summary: How to do the same thing 4 different ways.
Review: I love the Alien series, good and bad parts all together.

Alien the Horror: Best of the series (I like basic horrors) and was original. Many imitators, no successors.

Aliens the Action Movie: Guns 'n' Ammo in outer-space. Best ships, weapons and story of the series.

Alien 3 the Art Movie: The cute kid and the hero die before the credits are over, powerful imagery, (loved the hint that something wasn't right with Ripley, alien hatching, burn the bodies scene) and a new aspect to the alien life cycle. Many didn't get the point. This is the thinking fans movie.

Alien Resurection the comedy: Felt sorry for the poor alien at the end, finaly a human face to empathise with the alien, just wants his momma, and she flushes him out the airlock again. Nice! Still weaker than the first 3 combined, but interesting anyhow.

Summary: More than worth considering
Review: I thought long and hard over whether to give this collection five stars. The first two films are most definitely worth the merit, the second one especially, as it's one of the finest sequels ever made, behind only Godfather Part II and Empire Strikes Back. I'm glad, however, that they stopped at two films and didn't make another two, because they probably would have really sucked, even if they'd managed to get a first rate director like, say, David Fincher, for one, and perhaps some top notch acting talent for the other, like, say, Winona Ryder.

Denial is a wonderful thing. I'm also glad they skipped Star Trek 5 and went straight to six, since it probably would have been really awful as well.

But I digress.

The real reason to buy this box over the individual discs isn't posted here, but it is the mysterious fifth disc, a special behind-the-scenes look at Alien that can only be had as a mail order item, and then only if you buy the box of all four discs. You can't even get the fifth disc if you buy all four separately. Is the fifth disc worth paying the extra for? It is if you have the little bit extra to spend.

Summary: ALIENS by James Cameron is no. 1
Review: I am looking forward to this 5 disc dvd set. Anamorphic format for all of them, well done 20th century fox.

ALIENS (the "best" sequel ever made, along with T2)

Buy it I has ofcourse already ordered my copy.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A "must-have" for any video library
Review: I bought the VHS box set of the first three several years ago, but I'm buying this DVD collection anyway, for several reasons: I want to see the extra footage in 'Aliens', my favorite (isn't it everyone's?); of course I'd like 'Resurrection' (second favorite, I don't know why everyone knocked it- I liked it!); and I want to see each of them in all their glory whenever I get a digital TV. They're all good, even 3, even though I was a bit disappointed with the storyline. Now: when's Alien 5 coming out??

Summary: Finally .. one of the reason I bought my DVD player arrives
Review: I agree with some of the above comments. Now all there is to wait for is the Star Wars Trilogy. But onto the movies. Alien, a total classic and mastery of filmmaking. It totally reinvented film noir for the modern movie age. Aliens, definitely the best sequel ever made (sorry Empire). The simple fact that the colonial marine stands as the most recognizable icon from the whole series (besides the aliens themselves ofcourse) is a testament to how good the movie was. Alien 3, forget this one. Complete garbage, i like to pretend it doesn't exist, but it is there. The best thing I can say is at least on disc I can skip straight to few good scenes. The fourth is pretty campy and isn't in the same league as the first two, but it is an improvement over number 3. Sigourney is buff and Winona is hot.

Summary: The Best Horror Series Ever!
Review: By now, just about every science fiction film since 1979 has ripped off nearly all of ALIEN's hooks, looks, and story. It is at the polar opposite end of STAR WARS. No lovable droids here. Ridley Scott is a visual genius and this movie shows it. Also, ALIENS(1986) has spawned numerous rip-off movies. I'm sorry, but you just can't repaint the Sistine Chapel of action movies. With this new director's cut on DVD, us fans will be able to enjoy Cameron's vision even more. Like many people have stated, the added sentry guns scene is wonderful. Obviously, I can't wait for this new version.

The most critically lambasted of the series, ALIEN 3(1992), has always been one of my favorites. I realize I'm one of the few who truly appreciate this film, but I don't really care. Director David Fincher did an exemplary job of conveying a nicely paced, intellectual story with a urgent sense of reflection. The real monster in this picture is Ripley's internal emotions. Oh yeah, there's also a pretty cool alien in it as well.

ALIEN: RESURRECTION(1997) is another strong entry in the series. After I watched it for the very first time in the theater, I truly wasn't all that impressed. However, after viewing it at home, I've actually come to like it quite a lot. The disarming amount of humor in this movie might turn a lot of fans off, but it actually is an asset. This is also a film where Ripley isn't always on the defensive; she's the aggressor here. Weaver seems as if she's having great fun with her role.

After all is said and done, this 4 DVD set is any 'ALIEN' fan's dream come true. Finally, a format that can really open up the 'ALIEN' universe a little more. All of the movies are great in their own way.

Summary: I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
Review: My Line-up. 2-1-4-3. Aliens is definitely the best of the series. Alien 3 came in last for me. It seems the penal colony/planet, who knows how far it is from earth, only incarcerates men of English/British origin. That killed A3 for me. Resurrection could not possibly have come in last. Look how far Android technology has come! Annalee has my vote over Ash. Wouldn't everyone want a Winona Ryder clone? The last 2 movies are a must for the collection. The first 2 movies are a must.

Summary: Why four?
Review: Alien - must have Aliens? Restored? YES! -Must must have. Alien 3- I liked it. I enjoyed how 1,2,3 were all so different. -must have

Ressurection? No thanks... here's hoping I can buy the above three seperately.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Directors cut makes this well worth buying
Review: Finally the uncut version of Aliens is released. I have not seen it since it first aired on HBO and ever since I have been seeing the cut version and felt something was missing. I miss the scene with the sentry guns. All around a great set of movies even though the fourth is lacking a bit.

Summary: Finally! The Best Horror Series Ever!
Review: Alien has to be the best Horror movie of it's kind ever! Aliens is an action masterpeice and not to mention SCARY. Alien 3, although slighly weaker than the previous 2, is a psychological thriller like no other and Resserection, well.. It basically is silly. I thought Alien movies had to be scary. There is a difference between scary atmosphere and actual fear; And I must say, Ressurection was ANYTHING but scary. Basically it was a so so story, full of 1 liners, sight gags, and inventive camera angles. Aliens just sort of showed up in the film to off the characters every so often. 5 stars for the first 3, no stars for #4.
