Review:

I, could be like others and start this off on saying how I,
think about The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions but im not going
to because they as much deserve to be in this epic saga as The
Matrix does, that being said for the many fans and for the many
people who went to The Matrix the one film that changed the way
movies and philosiphy for films were looked on forever or even
if you just saw the sequels, this is a must have for anyone who
is intrested in The Matrix.It comes with 10 disks the biggest
collection of disks for a dvd set ever.The Washowski brothers
give commentarys on all three films, and for those of you who
couldn't stand the other two films will love the commentarys
on Reloaded and Revolutions the Washowski's were brave enough
to put in commentarys that blast the two sequels while giving
praise to the first film.


Those who do not have Enter The Matrix will love on the extras disks the option of seeing the scenes in the game that
were for and explain some things that the films did not.The
anime fans will have a treat with The Animatrix the only
computer animated film on the disk The Final Flight Of The
Osirius is just another reson why this collection is worth
the extra dollars to pay for it.Thousands of conceptual
sketches and tv spots and The Matrix Revisited and Revolutions
revisted and Reloaded Revisited are also here where you will
see anything you wanted to know about The Matrix saga in total
you couldnt count how many hours of features are here.But if
there is enough for even the hard core fans then even the fans
of the movies will find something here , they are vast and
aplenty as the machine world that is depicted in this saga.
And just think Star Wars only had 4 disks this one has 10
on DVD The Matrix Ulitimate Collection reigns supreme it starts
where the films end while all others stop it is a definate must
have for fans and movie collectors.

Review: Buy this dvd box set!

Without doubt, the matrix trilogy is one of the most experimental and interesting uses of cinema from Hollywood in the last few years, and this box set only amplifies this. While most people love the Matrix, but dislike Reloaded and loathe Revolutions, this box set goes a long way to showing why to do this is to stay, in terms of the film, a slave to the machines. That so many people claimed to love the talk of Morpheus, but then couldn't stomach the following films which ENACT the reality of the change, the revolution which requires you to FREE YOUR MIND, is nothing short of tragic.

Thankfully, with the commentaries here (Wilber,Cornell) , the Wachowski brothers give an insight into the structure of the trilogy, showing how, to love the Matrix alone as a movie is TO MISS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE MATRIX!! Major irony is at play here - especially as so-called Matrix fans claim that Reloaded and Revolutions are a "failure". Not so. Another review here talks about the fact that, by Revolutions, you feel like a small, human again. Precisely. Freeing your mind is NOT about fantasy and ego-inflation. It is about Mortality (like it or not). Change, revolution, freedom HURTS. If the matrix trilogy didn't HURT, it could not be TRUE.

Even the over-indulgence in technical details is TRUE to the spirit of the matrix which is ultimately about: stripping back to the truth. These are JUST FILMS. Those are JUST SPECIAL EFFECTS. To see all this, and still live at ease with it, is the message of the matrix trilogy, a very deep and difficult insight into reality and the BREATH OF FRESH AIR that this trilogy represents. (And if you think this is EASY, consider the ANGER instilled in people by how the trilogy unfolds - follow anger and you will find a truth hard to swallow, guaranteed).

If you REALLY want to swallow that RED PILL, then swallow this box-set whole. IT CONTAINS THE TRUTH. And, Christ, does it hurt. But then, haven't you heard? Pills are MEANT to be hard to swallow.......

Summary: Great set but what's up with the DVD hubs
Review: I agree with the previous posts - this is definitely worth getting, but ...
I got the limited edition set and the DVDs are mounted in individual trays (nice) but they: 1) use CD-style hubs and 2) the hubs are tight enough that its difficult to gently remove the DVD.
I was under the impression that for long life, DVDs were supposed to be mounted with special hubs that don't have a vise-grip on the disc and allow the disc to spin freely.

Summary: Three classics of the future, if not the present
Review: In 1999 a movie called The Matrix exploded onto the screen and established itself as an instant classic. In 2003, after a period of ridiculous, unrealistic, and ultimately damaging hype generated by producer Joel Silver ("it's beyond anything you could ever imagine"), came two long awaited follow-ups which soured audiences on the universe created by the Wachowski brothers.

The Matrix Reloaded, in a series of long and talky scenes, threw a new and suffocating load of ideas at an unsuspecting audience, taking the simple yet intriguing premise of the first hit film and blowing it up into something vast and complex and totally overwhelming. Audiences emerged feeling battered and confused, and by the time the third film, The Matrix Revolutions arrived, many of them weren't interested anymore.

After such initial distaste, it is best to revisit these sequels when that period of exhausting over-hype is in the past, and when the hard sell of Joel Silver has faded from memory. The Matrix Reloaded, with its long scenes of philosophising and introduction of the 'Architect', still takes getting used to, but once sense is made of all the twenty dollar words there is a lot of fun to be had. This is probably a first -- an explosive blockbuster for hard thinkers.

It may be only after one develops any sort of appetite for Reloaded that The Matrix Revolutions, a tighter film, emerges as a neglected classic. The story arc that was established in the first film and rocketed skyward in the second rages to completion in the third. Agent Smith rises to become the looming, apocalyptic threat he deserves as a movie villain to be. Neo stands in the machine city as lightning flashes and the world comes crashing down spectacularly. This is an ending that starts half-way through the movie and, for my money, it's as breathlessly entertaining and more visually stunnning than anything in Star Wars.

The Matrix Revolutions is the breathless payoff that keeps on giving. Once the initial sentinel attack on the city of Zion has been staunched, that would seem like the typical end to a movie. But it does not end there. We are treated to a second, unstoppable wave of sentinels, followed by a rampage through the bowels of Zion, followed by a collision course through the machine city, followed by a battle of the gods in rain and lightning.

For those already in love with this feast for the imagination, this ten-disc set is a lavish gift. The first film has been digitally re-colored and remastered bringing new life to a film whose special effects, while not dated by any stretch, were starting to look a bit dusty. It now falls in perfectly with its shinier sequels. Preferring not to explain away some of the mysteries of their films, the Wachowski brothers hold off on commentary duties, instead letting philosophers and critics do the talking. It's a neat idea but not always successful, as there are some long silences throughout.

To complete the package the set offers the acclaimed Animatrix shorts, which provide fascinating backstory for some of the film's characters, and cutscenes shot for the Enter The Matrix video game, which take place during the second film's timeline. The rest of the ten discs comprises hours of documentaries exploring the making of the films. Although lacking the creators' personal insights and the warmth of, say, the Lord Of The Rings extended edition appendices, this ensures the films retain some of their mysteries and their watchability.

Given the less-than-enthusiastic reception of the sequels in the theatre, it was nice that they were given the five-star treatment on DVD, and it shows that there are others who appreciate their riches.

Summary: Worth the Money
Review: Now I'm not going to get into the whole defense of "Reloaded" and "Revolutions" as I'm sure the trolls have poked their heads out to bash...The box set itself is nice..9 discs packed with extras that were not avaiable on the other releases...Since I had never seen "Matrix Revisited" I was totally impressed with the documentary that included lots and lots of the elusive Wachowshi Brothers...And there is a "Revisited" for each of the other 2 movies...Also I got to finally see the "Enter the Matrix" video game cinemagraphics that linked into the theatrical releases...And there is little things too that impressed me...Each DVD disc itself has a new and frankly cool graphic that ties into what each DVD is about...

Even though Harry(Ain't it Cool News) wasn't super-impressed with it, like he said it's a must have for the fanboys and girls...and for that matter anyone that wanted to own the trilogy+ but hadn't shelled out the cash yet or was waiting on a box set, Here it is, go buy it!!!

Summary: The Matrix-revolutionary
Review: The review is for the new Matrix Box set.
With the Matrix series we have an original and most enjoyable concept in the science fiction genre.
The first movie was a total smash(and rightly so) at the box office.It's special effects were quite revolutionary(no pun intended) and many films have copied them and its' style vigorously since then.
The second movie went down from the first one due to a bit of a shaky plot which resulted ultimately(again no pun intended) in a two parter which led into the third and last of the series which although more satisfying than the second still couldn't quite reach the dizzying heights of the first one (it's admittedly hard to top something as spectacular as that-a very hard act to follow indeed!).
This set contains more material than the passing Matrix fan could ever want and enough to satisfy even the most rabid fan.
The set also contains a disc(The Animatrix) which is strictly animated shorts and either give a different perspective on the series and/or fill in gaps in the movie story lines,the latter of which I found to be most helpful in rounding everything out.
In conclusion if you like Sci Fi and want something original,exciting and as entertaining as anything released in quite a while then I highly recommend this series and box set for you.You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Truly The Ultimate Matrix Collection
Review: There is a lot of information here and Matrix fans will love this box set. The featurettes provide extra insight into the developement, planning, and execution of all the Matrix movies. It almost feels like you're on the inside of the set getting to hear the secrets that no one else can hear. Most interesting is getting to hear from the stars themselves; what they were thinking or feeling about a particular scene or action shot as well as seeing the Wachowski brothers act out what they envision should happen in a scene. It may be information overload for some but I think most fans will eat it up.

For those who do not have the game, Enter the Matrix puts together all of the live action shots in one place and watching these will help explain some things that were not explained in the movie such as: what took place with Captain Niobe and Commander Locke before she volunteers to look for Morpheus' ship and; why the Oracle looked different (even though we know it was because Gloria Foster died unexpectedly) in The Matrix Revolutions.

There is an extensive look into the Merovingian's chateau and where the ideas for it came from. We also get to hear more from Wu Ping as he teaches the cast the martial arts basics as well as the casts frustration in trying to perfect their performances. Tere are moments during an interview with one of the principle cast members when you can see another cast member practicing their martial arts moves in the background. There is plenty of good background information in this set. The highway chase scene was pretty well covered in the original extras but there is even more here.

By the way, all of the movies are included just in case you were wondering. You'll need at least a week to disect it all. If you really want to take the red pill, you must have this set. There is much too much information here to comment on. It's worth the price just to have it as a collector's item. Trust me, down the road this set may bring a pretty penny especially if unopened.

It still may not be enough for those who are never satisfied but this box set should come extremely close to it. Free your mind. Buy it now!!!

Review: This is by far the best movie series ever. If you don't like these movies you have problems. I got this collection on christmas and I was thrilled. Critics crush these movies to badly. I loved the whole series. If you are a movie fan. You will love this collection. Go buy it.

Review: With each disc running over with information and enthusiasm you will definitely get your money's worth out of this set. If you are a fan you can't miss this. The transfers are terrific and the commentaries are balanced and mostly good. The philosphers and the critics are funny and try to bring something to the proceedings.

Anyone that longs to see how things are constructed won't be disappointed. It can really help you appreciate the movies more when you see what work and creativity went into it. Overall the set is like the trilogy itself, multi layered and has something for everyone.
