Summary: A Stand-Out Crime Show!!
Review: There are a lot of television shows out there that deal with crime and crime-solving. None can even hold a candle to CSI. Why you ask? Because of the depth of the characters. This crime scene analist team is unique in so many ways, yet they all have two things that drive them, their passion for solving crimes and the desire for having justice carried out. Each actor portrays their respective character with amazing reality, and each character is human and believable.

The writing of each episode is also spectacular. You have to experience CSI before you can truly understand how unique and intriging each story is. And you learn from this show!! How many TV shows these days can you say that about? Not many. I will attempt to explain some of my favorite episodes without spoiling the stories. "Friends & Lovers," this episode made me cry. It hit close to home, and I really felt for the boy in the story. "Blood Drops" deals with a very touchy subject, and a grizzly outcome, but it was amazingly written, and the acting, superb! Episodes like this shock and amaze! "Unfriendly Skies" is the first episode of CSI that I saw, and it was so unique and interesting that it hooked me. Imagine the team solving a death on an airline, piecing together verbal accounts supported by the evidence, and then reenacting the death while on a jetliner. So unique!! "Too Tough To Die" puts Sara, probably my favorite character, into some serious light, and in a tough situation. "Who Are You?" shows that even the most brilliant of scientists can have virtually the whole story, but still arrest the wrong person. I like the "I-15 Murders" because part of it 'takes place' right near the city that I grew up in.

Maybe I'm biased because I've lived in Southern Nevada and Las Vegas for 20 years, but I love this show, and although they are only on location sometimes, they do a great job with the 'outside' shots. Most of the time I'm amazed that the scenery is so close, most TV shows and movies get it wrong. And most of the time the streets are correct (I did notice one incorrect reference though), but I can tell that they try not to mention real hotel names, especially if there is a crime involved. A lot happens at the hotel Monacco! Also, I love how they use an actual newsperson from one of our stations to do the news! It shows how much effort they put into being authentic to the city, one of those little details that few notice, but is appreciated all the same.

My only disapointment (and its with the DVD set, not the show) is that there are not subtitles. Widescreen would have been nice to, but mostly just the subtitles. Other than that, the sound and picture quality are fantastic, and I love the packaging and extra features. Of course there could be more extra features, but I can never be satisfied in that area, so that shouldn't count against it. This set is sooooo worth it, and the show is sooooo amazing!!

Summary: Crime Scene Incredible
Review: This is the best televison drama series of all time. After watching the pilot I decided there and then that if the series ever came out on DVD, I had to get every single one.

I only recently received my copy of Season 1, after losing two orders in the mail. (Not from Amazon - that was my big mistake which won't be repeated) Fortunately, I had also bought the early cases DVD, so I was able to bridge the gap. The crime scenes are so detailed, and the equipment so unbelievably believable - that you WANT to think that it's all real.

This show has inspired a generation of amateur CSI's who now cannot look at a movie or read a book without thinking like a CSI.

What would Grissom have done?
Did they take DNA samples?
Check for fingerprints!
Look at the splatter patterns.
Were there are insects on the body so we can we establish the time of death?

The packaging is fantastic, with the inspired finishing touch of the crime scene "tape" wrapped around the box.

I hope that Season 2 will have more DVD extras and subtitles, which is the only thing lacking from this collection. The subtitles come in handy when you're watching at 2 or 3 in the morning and can't turn it up too loud.

The only bad thing to come out of CSI was CSI Miami, which can't hold a candle to the original. David Caruso is no William Petersen, and the rest of the CSI cast are so much more human and much better actors. Great performances are turned out by Marg Helgenberger (intelligence), Gary Dourdan (great arms), George Eads (the hottie), Jorja Fox (intensity - my personal favorite), and all the supporting actors.

Keep it coming folks.

Summary: CSI is an amazing new approach to crime drama
Review: The packaging with it's bright yellow strip encircling the boxcover stating "Crime Scene-Do Not Pass" riveted my attention to a dvd set of a program I had never even seen a commercial for on television so I took a chance by buying it and got very lucky as CSI Crime Investigation is a revolutionary new crime drama with each episode a murder mystery movie in itself so realistic that one learns so much about forensic science, facts, human nature, investigators' & criminals' mistakes, the legal system's way of taking this evidence to make arrests, the emotions that can sometimes get in the way of being unbiased and the fragile nature of crime scenes due to time factor, rain, multiple people in the scene, etc. The quality to the writing is amazing due to their keeping up with the latest in forensic science techniques-incorporating these sciences into each story. The investigators use common sense as well as they sometimes put their lives on the line putting their gloved hands in everything
whether it be human remains or the garbage which always holds the unknown and undesirable. Many times what you may think to be fact is proven wrong by evidence. Theories are stated with no assumptions formed. After viewing CSI, the other crime dramas or crime thrillers on television seem outdated with less appeal.
The cast is small yet effective. The opening & closing theme song " Who are you ? " by the musical group The Who applies to the entire program as many people are "John Does" or "Jane Does" unless they can be found. Computer technology is used on every show in addition to laboratory facilities, blood & tissue samples of victims & suspects, crime scene photos and routine questioning of many involved. The investigators make a conscious effort to notice every detail of everything making sure they see small things that otherwise are commonly overlooked. They also make sure to remember what they heard. Everything is obvious no matter how hard one may try to hide it. Cover-ups,serial rapists, killers and accidental deaths are solved by evidence and teamwork. The visual & sound effects along with re-creations of the crimes and crime scenes display intense training. Hopefully this exceptional program will continue in this way. This is a don't miss for people who appreciate great mysteries solved.
The Dvd set is filled with 23 episodes that are 45 minutes each,
A program this well written and acted is a welcome surprise.
One can't compare this to any other crime drama-thriller on television as it is an entirely new approach.I Highly recommend Crime Scene Investigations to everyone who appreciates a great mystery solved. The seriousness of each episode is a very new and needed approach to crime drama television. There's something to look forward to as Season 2 of CSI is coming on dvd soon.

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I didn't see the first season on TV (or the second!) - but after watching the DVD compilation of Season 1 - I'm hooked. This is police work from a different perspective - it appeals to the intellectual and the action-junkie. William Petersen is absolutely perfect for his role. If you've never seen CSI and want something a bit more mentally challenging than the usual cops-and-robbers shows....this is it!

Summary: As good as TV gets
Review: I'm not one to normally purchase TV box sets but I couldn't pass this one up. I was hooked on this show about 15 minutes into the pilot. Every episode has the look of a good movie and the plot of a good book.

I did want to mention that I'm fairly certain the first season was shot in 4:3 (standard) format. I know it was one of the complaints by another poster but I don't think they could have offered it in 16:9 (widescreen) because it wasn't the original format. Although more TV shows are being filmed in 16:9 many are still filmed in 4:3, like they have been since the beginning of television.

Summary: Lacks extras, but still a great dvd for a great show
Review: CSI is an excellent TV show. It strays from the usual police drama formula to focus on the people who solve the puzzle as to how crimes were committed. It rarely goes into the characters' personal lives, rather it goes into the crimes more. Many of the crimes are based on real cases, and the way the CSIs solve the crimes show that any piece of evidence can play an important role, and the clues can go into microscopic depths. The characters are likable, and some of them have certain morals that make some crime scenes difficult for them to solve without getting emotionally involved, which is also something educational about being a CSI. The DVD sports some fine picture and sound quality though its nothing spectacular. The extras consist of just bios, a brief music video and a short featurette which isn't very much. Still, CSI is a great tv show that is in a class of its own, and that makes the DVD worth purchasing.

Summary: " Can Television Get Any Better "
Review: This television series is the best one that I have seen in years. I first began watching this show on VCR tapes that were sent to me overseas because I am unfortunately not in a location where NBC is available for my viewing pleasure, and I became addicted. I am just grateful that I can now watch this series whenever I please, and I am excited for the second season to be available for purchase.

Over 20 episodes that leave you on the edge of your seat! I can't wait to get the second season on DVD!

Summary: It's an average DVD of an extraordinary show and season.
Review: First thing's first, C.S.I. is perhaps one of my favorite shows that is still in the air. It's really interesting and I knew certain information about forensic science since I've seen shows about that in the discovery channel. This show has really interesting cases and the characters are very interesting as well. Most of the cases on this DVD are probably the best and the box that contains the discs are really well done and really original. What I didn't like about this DVD is that it has very few sound options you can just select between English and Spanish. It doesn't have many bonus material as I like my DVDs to have but it's still 17 hours of great entertainment. As much as I like the show I wouldn't have bought it myself because of the extremely high price, 67 dollars is way too much for a teenager that works in Domino's Pizza. My dad bought it for me as a birthday present and it's still really good, but this is the 2nd most expensive tv show season out there with the number one being The Sopranos' seasons. It's a very good season but it's not worth the high price, definetly get this season but a preo-owned one or when the price drops, which should be soon sice season 2 is coming out on september.
