Summary: So he strikes... like THUNDERBALL!
Review: Thunderball is arguably the best Bond film (a debate that will no doubt go on forever-heck, some people even think The Man with the Golden Gun is the best of the franchise!) However, regardless of it's position in the series, it's a great movie, with Sean Connery riding high after the huge succes of Goldfinger and the upped budget and action creating an incredible entry into the franchise. And while it dosn't quite match the extravagant likes of Goldfinger, it's still without a doubt one of the greatest.

Summary: BEST JAMES BOND!!!!! ...
Review: Thunderball was the fourth installment into the 007 film series, but it was the first Bond film to really come of age. Thunderball far exceeds its predecessors in almost every category possible. With the financial success of Goldfinger, the coast was easily paved for the next James Bond thriller. And Thunderball was it. Thunderball had the highest box-office turnout for any Bond film until it was surpassed by Octopussy in 1983. However, Thunderball still remains today as the Bond film to have the highest U.S. admissions at $78.4 million.

Thunderball is an up-and-down roller coaster ride and one of the best films of the series. It is by far and wide the finest Sean Connery performance surpassed only by 1971's Diamonds are Forever. We begin the film with Bond killing a crooked Colonel and fleing his henchmen on a rocket powered jet pack. The scene with Connery fleeing with it is a projection, but someone actually designed and used one for the scene. I thought this was incredible and it started the movie off with an incredible bang. The credit sequence, designed by Maurice Binder, was the first one that started the Bond-esque tradition. The credit sequences of the previous three films were not very well done, but Thunderball's was excellent.

Bond begins his investigation by travelling to a health spa somewhere in France. While he is there, he encounters the deviant Count Lippe while he is recieving a massage. Bond notices a red marking on Lippe's wrist which Bond remarks is a "Tong sign".... I love the health spa scenario because we are consorting with an assorted cast of characters. We have Count Lippe, the man who is being made to look like Angelo Derval, and Miss Violpe. One of the great scenes here is when Lippe's men are bringing in the "real" Angelo Derval, who has been killed. Bond sees them outside his window and decides to go for a little "excersize". ... This is an important observation because later in the film, Bond tells "M" that he saw Angelo at the spa when he was supposedly flying the Vulcan aircraft. Given this observation, 007 and "M" suspect troubles abound and James goes to Nassau in the Bahamas to look for his sister, Domino.

That is one great thing about Thunderball: the locales. I can't think of any other Bond film that has given us such spectacular scenarios and magnificent beauty. The underwater scenes are fantastic in the film. There is one fixture that adds to the film's beauty in addition to the location: the girl. Domino Derval (Claudine Auger), is the finest Bond girl in the entire series. I found her to be an instant attraction and a very likeable character. Not to mention she is simply gorgeous! She, in essence, made the movie for me.... An interesting sidenote: This is the first and only time in Bond history when 007 has suffered a gunshot wound.

...The climax is great: everybody fighting with one another with knives and harpoon guns. Some of the scenes looked very realistic. In particular, the scene where someone shoots a harpoon through another's elbow looks excruciatingly painful. I grab my arm everytime I see that. ...The climax was a slam-bang, exciting, heart-pounding sequence.

In Thunderball, the action never let up; the scenes were among the finest in the series; Domino is the best Bond girl of all time; and the climax left you wanting more. All in hand, Thunderball is a pull-out-the-stops, dynamic, full-throttle thriller of the highest caliber.

Summary: A 100% Show Stopper
Review: This Spy Movie re-defines all the rest. No one does it like Sean Connery and the music score is one for the record books. The fight scenes are very realistic and the cool-like attitude of Mr Bond even in tight situations in this movie is enough to make you watch it over and over. After Sean Connery, other Bond movies are fun to watch, but they lack the hall mark performance the he delievers.

Summary: One of the Best!
Review: Thunderball does not have the seriousness of the first two Bond films. It comes after Goldfinger, which is no easy task. Yet,Thunderball is extremely fun to watch, like some of the Moore films. The villan is played solidly, and Emilo Largo is THE BEST VILLAN. Bond's new gadgets are extremely neat, espically the jet pack! Sure, the underwater scenes are outdone, but I enjoyed them. They were still action packed. Sure, the Bond girl wasen't one of the best. She was three-dimensional, though. There was no problem with Connery's preformance. He was still marvelous. This is great entertainment, and one of my favorites!

Summary: Great!,... 4-and-a-half Stars!!
Review: I really like this movie, it has one of the better plots of any of the Bond films(SPECTRE has highjacked 2 nuclear bombs and holds NATO ransom with them), great action sequences (especially the underwater, spear-gun fight at the end), great acting(connery's best performance), and the best Bond villain ever, SPECTRE! I highly reccomend THUNDERBALL to Bond fans and those who like spy, sneaking-around, type movies, because there's a whole lot of it. This is a really good movie, not as good as it's predessecor, GOLDFINGER, but it is still worth buying.

Summary: One of THE best Bond films ever!
Review: I just bought this a few days ago, and I am suprised at how good it is! Emilio Largo is my favorite Bond villan, because he's just so evil you want him to die horribly. The only other villian on that level is Max Zorin in AVTAK.

THUNDERBALL is about SPECTRE again. This time, they want to steal 2 nuclear missiles, and hold the world ransom for...100 million dollars! The film has my favorite pre credit sequence (with DAF being a close second), and I really love the final underwater battle. Largo's ship The Disco Volante is brilliant as well.

One thing, though the DVD extras are excellent, when you want to watch THE THUNDERBALL PHENOMENON, it takes you to THE MAKING OF THUNDERBALL. Reverse that process when you want to watch THE MAKING OF THUNDERBALL.

Nevertheless, a great DVD to own for Bond fans.

Summary: The seams are beginning to show
Review: A decided dip in quality here from "Goldfinger" the prior film in the series: the underwater sequences haven't stood the test of time well, the villain is rather drab, and the sped-up camerawork at the end is totally unconvincing. Still, it's got the jetpack, a slight reprise of the Aston Martin DB5, and the series' first use of sharks. There is simply no equalling the atmosphere of the Bond films of the 1960s. 8.5/10

Summary: A "must" for the legions of James Bond fans
Review: On of the "James Bond 007 Collection", Thunderball features Sean Connery in the roll of that fabulous British secret agent whose counter-espionage adventures now take him up against the evil international criminal conspiracy called SPECTRE. Non-stop, riveting action, enhanced with a bevy of beauties and a fiendish arch-villain all combine to a superb blending of action, romance and suspense, from the opening shots to the spectacular conclusion. Thunderball is a "must" for the legions of James Bond fans, and a very popular addition to personal and community library video collections.
