Summary: Hollywood document
Review: Filmed at the time, this is the closest you will get to experiencing World War 2. Watch this film and youll see why Americans fight, and why the U.S. must win every war at all costs.

Summary: Great World War II Movie
Review: I first saw this film when I was five years old at Fort Benning army base. The movie made a deep impression on my psyche and stayed with me to my college years. Unfortunately I couldn't remember the title until I came across a box for "Bataan" in a video store. Immediately I knew that must have been what I saw long ago. It didn't disappoint me then either. Made in the bleak early days of World War II, "Bataan" is stirring tribute to the fighting spirit of the American soldier beset by an enemy horde. The viewer grows attached to each character and is struck when these people are slowly picked off in the battle for Bataan. This movie is great for all World War II buffs and those who like a good action story.

Summary: america fights back
Review: I saw this movie when I was about 12 years old. It was one of the first films made shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was designed to anger the American public, and did it ever! In addition to Robert Taylor and George Murphy, also in the cast was Thomas Mitchell and a Cuban guy named Desi Arnez. To me it is a real WWII classic with damned good acting.

Summary: Average War Film
Review: Pretty good. Fairly forgotten 60 years later. Cliched and macho but interesting as indicative of typical wartime propaganda. A platoon of soldiers must make a last stand to allow others to escape. Almost no effort is made to explain what is actually going on in terms of the larger picture and why they are being called upon to make this sacrifice. These men are just "doing their duty". They are,of course, whittled down to the last man. Worth a viewing.

Summary: Interesting Portrayal of Men in War
Review: Released in 1943 this is an attempt to show the American public what we were fighting for and what our men were up against during WWII in the Pacific. They not only fought the Japanese but the elements and each other in a hostile environment. From a technical standpoint cinematographer Sidney Wagner and art designer Cedric Gibbons put together a hellish vision of war in the jungle. The cast is first rate with Robert Taylor as Sergeant Bill Dane incharge of the defenders. George Murphy is very good as the pensive Lt. Steve Bentley. Thomas Mitchell, Lloyd Nolan, Robert Walker, Desi Arnaz (in a good performance) and Barry Nelson are among the other defenders left on Bataan. The strangest relationship in this film is between Robert Taylor and Lloyd Nolan. Taylor recognizes Nolan as someone else he once knew. Nolan makes every attempt to undermine Taylor's command. Nolan fights hard but it never seems for any higher aspirations such as duty, honor and country. This was a strange portrayal in a film meant to expound those very qualities.

Summary: WOW!
Review: This may be the closest you can get to the opening days of WWII in the Phillipines. Robert Taylor, Lloyd Nolan, play the leave behinds on Bataan in the first few weeks of the war. Great plot and sub-plot twists. includes Desi Arnez (has to be only about 18 years old)in a bit part. Well acted for the period, believable, and brutal to the end. One of my favorite War movies, a must for any real WWII collection.

Summary: Girls! Girls! Girls!
Review: This movie is about a bunch of guys stuck on an island without
any girls. They go completely insane and start to shoot the very people who are trying to rescue them. At least,
that's how I interpreted the plot. If we can be serious for a
moment, why did I give the movie five stars? The action scenes
are the very best that you will find. The screenplay is among
the very best that you will find. Only one problem. It's a
racist war-propaganda movie! How much you want a mark-down

for that, I don't know. Because of the acting, screenplay, and
directing; I didn't mark it down at all. See this picture at
least once. Thank You.

Summary: Poorly made Movie about Bataan, not totally true
Review: This Movie is mostly blood and death. At the end of the movie all soldiers die. That is not the truth at all. There is much, much more to this story than this movie portrays. If you want to know the truth about the Bataan Death March, do not buy this movie. What you want to do is record from the History Channel or buy from Amazon.com if they have them, are documented story's of the POW's that were there, and lived the experience. However if Blood and Guts is what you are looking for, you will love this movie.
