Summary: Skull-duggery
Review: Eric and Jenny (John Hudson and Peggy Webber) are newlyweds who move into the country mansion that Eric lived in with his first wife, Mary. Mary met with an untimely demise by "slipping" and smashing her skull on the pond wall. Now, Jenny is experiencing late-night visitations by Mary's ghost. Or is she? Eric seems supportive, but just might be gaslighting his new bride. Mickey, the gardener, grew up with Mary and could be crazy enough to terrorize Jenny. Yes, the skull rolls around like a boney soccer ball. There are some periods of dullness, but the whole thing is just over an hour long. Worth a look...

Summary: BAD MOVIE BUT GOOD STORY
Review: F. Marion Crawford is one of the forgotten masters of horror from the early part of the 20th century. His story "The Screaming Skull" while not a masterpiece, is a well-written and atmospheric ghost story.

The movie just plain sucks, though. Welcome to a bad ghost story and someone's nightmare. This horror tale finds a newly married husband(John Hudson)and wife(Peggy Weber)haunted by the memory of his previous wife and screaming skulls found throughout their empty mansion and lily pond. Is the husband really trying to drive his already anxious bride insane? Or is it the learning challenged gardener Mickey(Alex Nicol)who has taken care of the mansion's grounds since the death of the original mistress of the house? This low budget horror flick has a story line that keeps you involved all the way the finale. Special effects are pretty bad even at 1958 standards. I swear at times the screaming skull sounds much like it should be in a Godzilla movie. Also in the cast as Reverend Snow is character actor Russ Conway.

The film is more boring then anything else. There seems to be some attempt to build tension through badly lit shots of empty rooms and empty lawns, but none of it works.

Summary: SCREEMING SKULL A CLASSIC HORROR FLICK
Review: I am sick of all of you BONEHEADS measuring every bloody film you see against the latest CGI flick!!! Don't you cheeseheads get it? These movies are CLASSIC horror flicks that are to be watched and valued on their own merits and not to be endlessly compared to films produced 40 years later! Many of us Generation Xers first watched these films as TV reruns on the Late Late Show (this was before cable!) when we were kids and were sacred to death to go to bed afterward. That is part of the charm of it all! Why are Ed Woods films still watched and enjoyed? It is funny to watch the "screeming skull" roll around on the lawn like a kid's toy ball. The beatnick gardener is a classic goofy horror film stock charater that will bring a laugh. Any individual with an IQ higher then 50 will buy and watch films such as "The Screeming Skull" because they bring back fond memories and are (in most cases) OK for your kids to watch along with you. Most of these type movies are selling at very resonable prices and it will cost very little money to quickly build up a respectable classic horror film library.

Summary: Ignore the Other Reviews, This is Awful
Review: Ignore some of the folks who gave this five stars. Both the movies and the picture are absolutely horrendous (but you expected that, didn't you.) "Screaming Skull" and especially "Werewolf vs. Vampire Woman" aren't as deliriously so-bad-they're-good as you'd hope: they're just bad. As in BAD bad.
"Screaming Skull" and especially "Werewolf vs. Vampire Woman" look awful. "Werewolf" includes some of the strangest visual distortion I've ever seen: the backgrounds tend to jitter as the foregrounds stay still. Colour bleed, grain, and poor contrast are all present.
The extras include a not very good Betty Boop cartoon, as well as trailers for the main attractions and "Brides of Dracula." The trailers are the disc's only asset.

Summary: A Quality Review
Review: Ok, you are probably looking at this package and wondering why its so cheap. I did the same thing, expected very little, and came out delightfully surprised. The quality of the transfer is of these two films is not the best, but it doesn't run into some of the other problems Madacy discs are known for (heavy pixelation, pausing, skipping, etc). THE SCREAMING SKULL looks like it was transfered from videotape and the images are not always very clear. It is still way better than some videocassette versions you will encounter. It doesn't have DVD quality, but paired with the other rarity THE WEREWOLF VS. THE VAMPIRE WOMAN you can easily overlook this. The disc also includes the trailers for both pictures, a cartoon and a coming attraction trailor for THE BRIDES OF DRACULA...all on one disc! THE WEREWOLF VS, THE VAMPIRE WOMAN looks like a film that was stored in someone's attack. The print has occasional instability and lines, but overall looks wonderful..though the color is faded. But hey, for under 10 bucks for 2 films plus trailors you can't go wrong!

Summary: Let's all go to the lobby!
Review: There wasn't much problems like people, were saying. Sure the quality of these movies were like the quality of VHS, but don't spoil yourself with all of that, just watch the movie, that's what it's for. The only part of this DVD that skipped or really messed up for me was during the Werewolf vs Vampire woman trailer, when they were showing a close-up of the moon it kind of skipped but that wasn't a biggy. This DVD features trailers from the 2 movies on this, and Draculas Daughters. There is also an intermission cartoon when one movie is finished. I found that to be pretty neat, The Screaming Skulls trailer was funny, because it said that if you died when watching this movie that they would pay for burial cost. The only thing you would die of from watching this film is the price you payed to see it! The Werewolf vs Vampire Woman was an interesting movie I had never heard of before owning this DVD. It has alot more blood and gore than I expected (which was none)! This DVD is worth a look, really!

Summary: You'll love it or hate it.
Review: Want to know if you'll either love this or hate it? Okay, here goes:

The "screaming skull" makes it's appearance by being rolled across the floor.

Now, do you A) think that that's funny or B) think that that's stupid. If you chose A, then you're in luck, this double feature is for you. If you chose B, well then why are you even looking at reviews of this schlock?
