Summary: melodrama at its worst
Review: I give this film two stars to correct for any Old-Man-Grumpus factor that may be clouding my judgment. I'm all for corny love stories, but this one is so poorly done, so weakly directed and sappily planned, that I could hardly keep my popcorn down. The plot is one gigantic contrivance that loses its charm in the first quarter of the film. I recommend some other movie, just about any any other movie, over this one.

Summary: One of my favorite movies
Review: I have seen this movie numerous times and find it to be very romantic and a very good example of sattire. It is funny, witty and has a happy ending. I also really identified with Gwen. Her love of writing and her search for true love and not to mention her innocence. A character I can identify with.

Summary: Clever and Delightful!
Review: I rarely gush about love stories or "chick-flics," but this was delightful. It's every bit as charming as "When Harry Met Sally," and the threads of its clever plot are as intricate as the details of the hand-carved piano which provides its initial focus.

I viewed this film quite by accident: It followed an episode of "NYPD Blues" taped for me by a friend. I had never heard of it, and what little publicity it received from Hollywood was lost on me. What a shame: This is the kind of cinematic art Hollywood once produced, but which now seems rarer than statesmen.

Whoever wrote the screenplay (my taping had no credits) is brilliant! The casting was also excellent, and while all the actors gave sophisticated and subtle performances, the leads played by Jeanne Tripplehorn and Dylan McDermott were particularly nuanced. Director Scott Winant deserves a great deal of credit.

Summary: Cute, but a little too long
Review: I rented this movie thinking it was going to be the cutest movie. It was very cute, but they really made the movie too long.Jeanne Tripplehorn did an excelent job as the lead.Dylan McDormott did a great job as the leading man.Sarah Jessica Parkers character was hilareous. She literally stole every scene she was in.The movie is good if you really wanna get a some pretty good laughs.Be patient with it though because it drags in parts of it.A good movie.B+

Summary: One of the most real, moving, romantic stories of all time
Review: I saw this movie in a video store and thought, "There is one of the most compelling stories I had ever seen!!" I rented it as a way to remind myself that there is true happiness out there, although it's very hard to find. I keep questioning my happiness and think,"Where is it? Where is my happiness?" And then I watch this movie and I see that it was there all along. The characters portrayed in it are just as I see my own life. So after I finish watching, I begin to realize that I have it just as good as everyone else.

Summary: Light Fun+
Review: I thought this movie to be charming and witty. Though it would appear to be very light, you look deeper and pay attention to how the characters roll around each other, it becomes somewhat of a fun, tangled web-much like our own lives would be seen if we could view them from a third person. Happy and sad, it's a great flick for a rainy Sunday afternoon. As an added bonus who knew Jeanne Tripplehorn could do slightly, slapstick humor the way she does, hats off to her. Add tacky, tasteless and yes, tired Sarah Jessica Parker and its great!!

Summary: love destiny can be true & humorous too
Review: I've been raving about this movie ever since I first saw it a few years ago. I rented it many times, like a junkie! After reading the posted reviews of this wonderful movie, I'm pleasantly surprised that most reviewers seemed to be as in love with it as I am. Romance and destiny (and combinations thereof!) do exist! Even though I must agree it's not the best movie ever made by general standards, it's a story full of hope, humor and a validation of sorts that the hope"ful" romantics of the world are not alone. And not hope"less." If nothing else, I found it very satisfying in terms of quirky, rolling-on-the-floor funny moments, and plenty of sweet, misty romantic scenes. And, a happy ending. YES.
