Summary: 70s kitsch, not cinematic brilliance
Review: First, reviewers who are stupidly bashing those not giving this film glowing reviews by hinting that anyone who didn't like this film is less than intelligent or is narrow-minded should know that Anthony Burgess, the author of the book on which this film is based, absolutely abhored the film. He found it an immature, exploitive version that took far too many liberties with his novel. I agree with much of what Burgess has to say about this film. Those insulting anyone who doesn't see this movie as a piece of cinematic brilliance would do well to read Burgess' take on the film. This film dilutes, rather than equals or surpasses the novel.
My first experience with this film was watching a showing in college, surrounded by drunken frat boys gleefully cheering the rapists on and shouting mysogynistic insults throughout. May not be what Kubrick intended, and certainly not Burgess' intention (he wrote Orange after his wife was attacked), but sad nonetheless.
This film is 70s kitsch and pseudo-intellectualism disguised as social commentary. It presents the issue of societal repression vs. anarchy in a juvenile, black and white manner. I'm generally not offended by sex and violence in movies, but the attacks in Kubrick's Clockwork are portrayed in such a unrealistically cartoonish, titillating and sometimes almost seemingly comic, manner that they undermine Burgess' message. The techniques used in the film may have been innovative for their time, but now they come off as being over-the-top and wierdly dated.
If you're one of those who sees Stanley Kubrick as the genius of his genre, you probably will love this film. I do not think it is Kubrick's best work. I know that many people will disagree with this review. That's fine. But, my suggestion to those who think I'm less than intellectual or am narrow-minded for not liking this movie? Study the book.

Summary: what I think
Review: A Clockwork Orange was written and Directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1972. It stars Malcolm Mcdowell. It was originally rated x. Today, you'll find it under an R rating, though its still kinda strong for an R. It was based on a book by Anthony Burgess. Anyways, being a fan of some of Kubrick's other work (2001 is one of my all time favorite films, Dr. Stangelove I love) here's what I have to say about this film; first of all, it's overrated. This is not Stanley Kubricks masterpiece. I've never liked Voice- overs and this film has too much of that. I've also never liked overly pretensious or arty films, and this one at least qualifies in the overly pretensious category. There are some very good scenes, like the scene when alex knocks all his buddies into the water without warning. The gang fight scene is well done. There's no denying that this is a cinematic masterpiece and it certainly is disturbing at times, though i think that for all of its' intoxicating effects, the film was sort of an evolutionary step towards really [crummy] movies like Fight Club. In case you want to know, the film contains stong Violence and Sexuality, nudity and brief profanity.

Summary: Great movie
Review: I am sick of people writing that there is too much violence and nudity. This movie does not promote or gratify violence- it actually was supposed to show that this type of stuff happens. All you people like that guy from Reno, Nevada want to be blind to what goes on to the world and live in a happy, fairy-tale land. Life isn't like that, and they just won't learn that. This is a great movie that everyone must see. Stanley Kubrick is almost as good as David Lynch.

Summary: An amazing trip through the dark life of a "future" hooligan
Review: This movie is set in a rather horrifying future in the mind of Anthony Burgess. Kubric does an unbelievable piece of cinematography with this film that stands out from any other movie... ever. From the moment this movie begins your in awe because you can't believe what your seeing on the screen is even allowed to be there. The dialogue is exquisite along with the narrating by McDowell. Though this movie may be offensive or just too much for some people, it is a must-see for anyone who is a classic film lover.

Summary: Amazing...
Review: If your reading this review and thinking of viewing this film for the first time don't take the easy road and not see it becasue some people diden't like it. If your going to make an opinion on this movie adleast see it, hey you might like it. The basic plot of this movie is a vision of the future from the 70's by the great (but late) mr. Kubrick in which violence runs wild through the slums of the world. Clans of yong men seeking "ultra violence" reak havok on random prey for fun and than sit back and enjoy a "moloko plus" at the moloko milk bar. If you take a good look at this movie (not the somewhat tacky 70's take on the future) this movie does not stray to far from what our society is somewhat falling into. Gangs, violence, victims, drugs(moloko), all things that are part of gang violence today. This movie dosen't glorify anything it just tells it from a neutral position, the viewers choose there favored side as the movie progresses. Either way, love it or hate it, this is infact a classic movie and should be viewed by anyone and everyone.

Summary: Right, right.... Right, right
Review: This was the best movie ever. people how say it was disterbing, and sick. They don't know what there talking about, I admit there was a couple nude scence but if you read the book it has it all. Kubrick was just tying to make it like the book. so people who say it was a bad movie they better watch it and get it this time. Just remember all that he did leads up to the end and how everything is so.....
WATCH THE MOVIE TILL YOU GET IT AND IF YOU DONT GET WATCH WITH SOME ONE THAT WILL SO THEY CAN TELL YOU WHATS ABOUT!!!!

Summary: Astonished
Review: Other reviews of Clockwork Orange tell me that I do not like the film because I do not "get it" or because I am close-minded. Some of the writers insist that the film has value because of the social commentary it contains, or because it is thought-provoking, or because of its enduring relevancy, or even because of its exceptional cinematography. Nonsense. None of these things justify the dehumanizing brutality of this film. I am not a better human being for having seen the film, and I have not been entertained by it (I would be too ashamed to admit it if I had been).

Summary: Splendid Eye Candy
Review: This movie was, well, absolutly wonderful!! The artwork in it was funny as well as tastful. I enjoyed how the "demented" man did all his wrong deeds in the night (rape, stealing, etc.) then went home to mummy and daddy. I would recommend this to anyone that has a good eye for taste and originality.

Summary: Very Horrorshow Indeed!
Review: This is an excellent "art" film bursting with color, vibrancy and intelligence. I believe this is one of Kubrick's best films(even though he despised it)and I watch it many times over and over. McDowell portrays Alex with great success. The first opening scene is classic, the scary, slightly cool stare of Alex as he sips his laced milk. The satire elements are not buried beneath the violence if you seek them, and I believe this is a completely entertaining and thought provoking film.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: MY FAVORITE OF ALL TIME
Review: I've never been moved so much by a movie in my entire life. From the character of Alex all the way down to the soundtrack, there is not a thing wrong with this movie. The way Kubrick put this novel together amazes me. Clockwork Orange is what got me to appreciate movies for more then what is handed to you. Kubrick is a god.
