Summary: Funniest DVD Collection Ever
Review: Ab Fab is one of the funniest TV shows ever produced. This collection of the first three seasons is totally hysterical, and very much worth the somewhat high asking price. I'll give a little bit of advice before buying---wait to see an episode or two before you plunk down the [$$] that Amazon is asking for it. It is a British comedy, and as such is somewhat different from your average American sitcom. Try to catch it on Comedy Central, who shows Ab Fab every now and again. As far as DVD extras, the bonus DVD of "fabulous little things" is fun, and each DVD has about 15 minutes of outakes from each season. My only real problem with the DVDs is the asking price--somewhere just below [$$] a season in this collection. I'd shop around before buying--maybe your local [store] will be cheaper or have a sale....

Summary: Sweetie¿ Darling!
Review: Absolutely unique, absolutely rude and politically incorrect, and absolutely hilarious. The best situational comedy ever seen on television.

The show revolves around two women: fashion extraordinaire Edina and her fabulous alcoholic friend Patsy, finding themselves taking part of constant misadventures. Constantly distracted by alcohol, drugs and lack of all responsibilities leave these two creating problems for themselves just to have something to complain about.

Edina, supported by her two ex-husbands (not imply that she does not have a "job") lives to make a life for her daughter Saffron as miserable as possible and passes from one day to another trying every fat diet ever invented. All but exercise. After all that would be sensible and we can't have that.

Patsy, who is also determined to make Saffron's life a living hell, carelessly surrounds herself with sex, drugs and alcohol. With Edinas fortune who needs to worry (not imply that she does not have a "job").

Most original look at a dysfunctional life. It will leave you wanting to have such a life. And why not, when only worries you'll have are shopping, drinking and more shopping.

And don't forget: "You can never have enough hats, gloves and shoes."

Summary: They're absolutely dotty!
Review: These gals are freakin' HILARIOUS!!! And Leonard Shaw, I'm saying this in as nice a way as possible-- you've absolutely missed the point of the humor. The only girl with the voice of reason is Saffy. All the other women are wacky and off the wall in some way or another. Realistic is the very last thing I'd think the show attempts to be. It's meant to be an exaggeration and what's so horribly funny is that this exaggerated behavior is treated as the norm in the world of AbFab!

So take that, mister! And you people out there better get these DVDs!!

Summary: NO, NO: Don't Believe a Word of It: It's ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE
Review: Contrary to virtually all of the other reviews here, my experience has been quite NEGATIVE. In fact, I bought the collection based on these reviews, and then was stunned to find how awful the series was.

Why? Primarilly, it's the acting. Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley are HORRIBLE actresses, whose only method of acting is hamming it up and making stupid faces. There is no pretence at all of creating a reality which we can believe in. For example: when Saunders punches out a phone number on her cell phone, it's so obviously fake--she just punches the same number about eight times without even looking at the phone, at lightning speed--that no one could ever believe anything other than this is a bad actress who doesn't care to pretend to dial a number. Or, to give another example, when Saunders is trying to be sarcastic, and when she's trying to be genuinely friendly, she smiles exactly the same way. Is she incapable of showing the difference?

The supporting actors, such as Julia Sawalha, who plays Saffron the daughter, and the woman who plays the grandmother, aren't bad, in fact Sawalha is positively good, but the plot is largely carried by Saunders and Lumley, and so their inability to act ruins all scenes.

The writing as well is adequte, but there are many, many more good jokes in The Simpson's, Seinfeld, or Friends per episode than you'll ever find in AbFab. And even when there are good jokes, the insincere way in which Saunders and Lumley deliver their lines usually destroys them.

Summary: Absolutely what it says it is
Review: Don't buy this if you don't know what it is. If you do know what it is, I don't need to tell you it's genius. Order it or put it on a wishlist, but don't ignore it and hope it will go away--not having this collection will haunt your conscience. You heard it here first.

Summary: Absolutely Flawless Humor!
Review: I have to admitt the Brits knew what they were doing when they created this comedy masterpiece. Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone are a hilarious power house! Between Patsy and Edina's daughter Saffron's petty bickering over Edina's attention, and Edina's dim whitted assistant Bubble this show will have you crying with laughter. Not to mention Edina's not so in tuned with the times Mother. I'm just upset that they never came out with The Last Shout episodes. Those were equally as funny. Lets band together and maybe they'll see the profit they could make in making that fabulous season on dvd as well. AB FAB is the best of the best!
