Summary: The best movie EVER
Review: I am a long time movie lover and I've seen many many movies.
This spoof on 1930's gangster life is positively th best movie ever. It may not be the funniest movie ever but it is definatly the best. I have never met another person that has even seen this movie in person but the people on-line just love it.
In comperison to other commedies like "Zorro the gay blade",
"Space balls", "The mask", or "History of the world part 1" this movie is much better, I cant say why (because I'm not exactly sure), but this movie kicks @$$.

Summary: I'm scared...
Review: ...Really, I'm deeply frightened and disturbed by the fact that there are apparently (to judge by the customer reviews here) people in the world that find Johnny Dangerously funny. People who find it inexplicable that this film got the critical drubbing it deserved on its original theatrical release. If you want the truth, check out the review below by Tardisweller, which really nails it on the head. (Is it significant that by far the best written, smartest, funniest review of the bunch is the lone [until now] negative review? I leave you to draw your own conclusion.)

Summary: I've been thinking of taken up smoking, this clinches it.
Review: Amy Heckerling (Clueless, National Lampoon's European Vacation, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High) directs this parody of gangster movies. While watching this movie, I had a hard time deciding if it was an educational movie (hey kid, stealing ain't the answer), or a strait up comedy. Oh, wait, the movie Keaton shows his brother to prevent him from having sex, I take that back, it is a strait up comedy (cause I don't want mine to blow up like a balloon, so I found the movie educational ;).

Anyways, Michael Keaton plays Johnny Dangerously to perfection. He kept his character very fun, and brought a lot of charisma to his role. Johnny Dangerously aura pored out on the screen (visit from the Pope or not). I truly feel this was the perfect role for Keaton.

I also felt Joe Piscopo played his role to perfection, once, just once. Piscopo plays Danny Vermin, who is jealous of Dangerously, and wants his position in the mob. He also feels Dangerously is getting soft, and not running the gang correctly, so he tries to under mind him.

The cast also includes Peter Boyle (as the original gang boss), Danny Devito (as the crooked DA), Maureen Stapleton (as Dangerously's mom), Dom DeLuise (as the Pope, he's in the movie 2 minutes total), Dick Butkus (for a nod and wink scene), and Griffin Dunne (as Dangerously brother).

Despite this great cast, and despite Dangerously as a great character, the whole movie I felt was missing something. There was definitely a few very funny parts (especially the sex tape I mentioned in the introduction), however, the movie seems like it was missing one piece from making it great. Now I cannot put my finger on exactly what the film was missing, but I can tell you after watching it you have that: "yeah, it was good," or "yeah it was ok," feeling. You definitely do not have that need to own feeling, or has to be in my DVD collection feeling.

Summary: Fargin Classic!
Review: Best mafia spoof movie made yet. Michael Keaton plays comedy very well in this role. It's relatively clean-cut with sexual innuendos scattered throughout, but too subtle for children to even notice. The duel with Roman Maroni and his constant assault on the English language is hilarious. Definite addition to anyone with a sense of humor..

Summary: Youza hafta see this fargin movie!
Review: Commenting on a previous review; I agree strongly that the critics were way off with this one. I was far beyond satisfied with the comedic side of this movie; it was hilarious. Joe Piscopo was so damn funny it literally at times made my sides hurt from laughter. I'll never forget his excuse as to why he could park in a handicap zone; "I am handicapped; I'm psychotic". And the enemy crime boss (I forget his name), with all that foreign gibberish: "Youza violating mah fargin rights you iceholes. You sneaky bastages!", etc. - I own this movie on VHS (didn't really think it was necessary to get it on DVD), and I'm sure as Hell glad I bought it.

Summary: Still funny after all these years
Review: Eighteen years after seeing this movie in the theaters, I still say "fargin'" and people know where I got it from. This is still a hilarious movie, regardless of what the Amazon Critic says.

Summary: Are there 7 stars?
Review: I can't believe the bad review. My old VHS tape of this movie is so worn out that the color is blurred. My friends that have seen this movie and I still quote Roman Marone to this day. Other people think we are crazy. I can't believe the number of people that have never heard of this movie. I am not going to explain the movie because it has been explained by other reviewers. Oh, Oh, remember the part when Tommy's car lost it's brakes and the radio was playing faster with the speed and he rolled down the hill and...you will have to see. Ooooh Myy God!

Summary: A "Watch it over & over" fun movie
Review: I don't know what crack the Amazon reviewer was on... this movie is great. Lots of fun and laughs, great characters, great spoofs, great gags. Some of the humour is subtle or in the background, other stuff is in your face hilarious. If you have a sense of humour, I'm sure you'll love this flick. Personally I can't wait to replace my over-watched, worn out video cassette with the crystal clarity of dvd.

Summary: You Fargin' Bastages...
Review: I don't know who reviewed this movie for Amazon, but they're WAY off the mark... get a sense of humor!
This movie was hilarious when it came out, and it's just as funny now. Hey, earth to reviewer! It's SUPPOSED to be silly! It's not a biting satire of '30s gangster movies, it's a slapstick comedy that happens to be set in the '30s gangster culture.
If you haven't seen this movie, you need to. Those of you who have seen it know it's great (just check out the 32 reviews below with a 4.5 star average rating).
