Summary: Rocky Horror Picture Show A.K.A. Invader Of Sanity
Review: this movie is the perfect example of a movie that isnt for isnt for everyone. i am one of those movie followers of movies no one knows of or only freaks and romantics enjoy. Like, Newsies, RHPS, monty python and the holy grail, and Cheats. (all very, very different movies)....

Rocky horror is an invader of the mind, it can drive you crazy and no matter how much you hate it, you can still love the movie. its kind of like the first time you learn to (review approprite:) "kill a kitten". Its a new, wierd, wacky( very wacky...hahaha) expereince. and You will always return to see it again. it invades your mind. the music controls you.

a good friend of mine, Jimbo, just went to a midnight showing the other day as brad. anyways, he has been "brutally mauled" by this movie, basicly. before becoming mega-obbsessed with this movie, he was a quiet, depressed, un-jacked freshman. afterwords, he is stranger beyond belief.

This movie is the biggest cult, and one of the most easily understandable cult-movies. ive already been drawn into this movie, and it has helped pull me out of depression. this movie is one of the best movies ever. and annother thing, you can get drunk off this movie, and be swimming in a pool of your beliefs. you can be who you want to be. you shouldnt have to worry what others think.

to summarize this: EXCELLENT MOVIE!! go rent, see or buy this movie RIGHT now.

Summary: Let us now praise a great musical
Review: What makes a great movie musical? Plot? Well, it can help, but that isn't as important as one with no music at all. The ability to take us to new worlds? By it's nature, yes, as ordinary life doesn't break out into song at the drop of a hat. It can fail, as I think "Moulin Rouge" did, but "Oklahoma" presents the real world as well as any musical can and does succeed.

How about number of memorable musical numbers? Now there's something. The musical "Showboat" is considered one of the greats, and has a moving plot. But aside from "Old Man River", how many memorable songs can you count off from that production?

With all that in mind, I believe that "The Rocky Horror Picture Snow" is one of the great movie musicals of all time, and I've seen quite a few. Of the three criteria above, pure plot may be the weakest, but even there I think there is something. First, it is a comedy, and at times is very funny. But the subtle (and not so subtle) reminders of 1950's science fiction films make it in it's own way a touching tribute.

It succeeds much, much more in taking us to new worlds. I just got done reviewing "Guys and Dolls", a musical as far removed from this as you can get. But that one succeeds partially because it creates an underworld that is real only in our dreams. "Rocky Horror" goes way beyond that, creating something truly unique in the area of cinematic story-telling. There is nothing quite like it.

But the songs. Richard O'Brian evidently hit lightening in a bottle with this one, as shown by the fact that he hasn't really done anything else of note since then. But much better to get all the good stuff in one work than a career of one or two-hit song albums. From the hauntingly beautiful opener "Science Fiction/Double Feature", the soundtrack doesn't have a clunker in it. Yes, it's primarily rock and roll, and "Whatever Happened to Saturday Night?" would have fit right into Meatloaf's "Bat out of Hell" album. But the comedic "Toucha Toucha..." does advance the plot, and "The Time Warp" is as good as any musical production number.

I saw it about thirty times back in college, and was apprehensive about getting it for home viewing. Could the experience be the same? Well, not exactly, but it's well worth getting it for home viewing.

Summary: THE BEST MOVIE EVER!
Review: This movie is the best ever! I'm only 14 but I love the movie just as much as any fan who got to go at midnight and see it in full costume! Lucky people! I can't keep my love for the movie inside me. In school I sing and dance with my friends to the tunes of the movie. I've seen more times I can remember and I know it word for word. I'm starting a new generation of Rocky Horror lovers at my school in Connecticut. I love the message it sends, that you can be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want, make your dreams reality,DON'T DREAM IT , BE IT! It stands the test of time and will remain a cult classic forever!

Summary: Wonderful Movie!!
Review: This is a great movie. It is a bit weird, but I love it. I can't wait to get the DVD. I had bought the VHS for my aunt for Christmas. My aunt introduced me to this wonderful movie. For those of you who have not seen it, I suggest renting it right now. I have already rented it twice, in less than two weeks. It is that great.

Summary: Awesome
Review: This DVD has so much stuff about the movie that I had never seen. It has both the UK and US version (not much difference..) But the second disk has a wealth of stuff about the whole film itself from interviews with the cast (except for Tim unf.) Its also fun to watch some of the other features. All in all, you'll love this DVD if you love the movie, or just transexual vampires in general...

Summary: don't get too excited about the features...
Review: The audience participation prompter sounds like a bigger deal than it is.. it really only advises on the major prop participation, and is only a few directions scattered throughout the film.

The audio of the audience is much more intensive, but was apparently just taped from a viewing, for a vast majority of it is simply audience members trying to outscream each other with their own lines, which results in a jumble of sounds that I cannot decipher. When they do come together simultaneously, it's great (witty, and great if you're trying to learn), but you have to suffer through the random screaming of inaudible comments to get there.

I have had a major problem with this, which is the features keep turning themselves off. The multi-view experience inevitable shuts off if you try to add anything else (like English subtitles to understand the dialogue during the cacophany). The subtitles and participation prompter also shut themselves off, so that you end up with nothing but the audeience audio time and time again. This has happened on two seperate DVD players, so I would assume it's a problem with the dvd itself.

OTOH, the commentary from the stars makes a unique and entertaining show in and of itself, even to the causal fan.

Summary: A MUST Experience!
Review: Check your sanity at the door because you're in for one heck of a ride. What other movie can you put aside all your inhibitions and truly enjoy yourself?

"Give yourself over to absolute pleasure. Swim the warm waters of sins of the flesh - erotic nightmares beyond any measure, and sensual daydreams to treasure forever. Can't you just see it? Don't dream it, be it."

Summary: "Let's Do the Timewarp"
Review: "Rocky Horror Picture Show" is one of the best cult classics of it's time.

Originally this movie started out at a play over in Europe staring a small cast of characters and a very dedicated audience.. Then one day the play director (you will see him as rif raff) decided that he wanted to pass this truelly magnificient gift on to others.. Thus was born "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".. When it first came out it bombed badly.. So Bad that it was taken out of the theatres faster then it was placed in them..

Then one night a group of people went to a theatre manager and asked that Rocky be played at midnight.. and WHAM!! The craze was born.. and the shows went on..,.

What is all the excitement you ask? Simple.. this movie is a fun spoof on all those olde sci-fi movies that featured outerspace creatures, sex, and strange going on's.. With the excitment of a full broadway musical with such songs as "Dammit Janet", "Time Warp", "Sweet Transvestite" and many many many more songs that lend to the whole ambience of the film..

The acting is not the best but, is carried of quite well by Tim Curry (Dr. Frank-N-Furter), and Susan Sherandon (Janet)..

And if you are trying to find the best version of the film to get make sure you get the ones that feature the deleted scenes and the alternate endings.. You will wonder why they ever took them out..
