Summary: Who made the salad?
Review: I hadn't heard about the director's cut, so I was stunned to see that the movie that I watched dozens of times in my youth had been changed. Missing are some of my favorite bits, like the radio dj mocking the "Giant tomatoes mean bigger pizzas" line and the character of the bland receptionist who says everything with absolutely no inflection. Bring back the original!!!

Having said that, there still are some great surreal jokes floating around. It only appeals to a certain sense of humor, but I have it so...

Summary: Still good, but not as good as the original

Summary: This Salad Bar Draws Flies
Review: I'm surprised to find this film listed among "family films," for ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES has a LOT of R-rated profanity; parents who are searching for innocent fun for the kids should probably give it a miss. But that is really by the way, because the film is so bad any self-respecting kid will probably stomp out in disgust long before it comes to its absymal conclusion.

The best thing about this movie is the title, and the title tells the story. Tomatoes suddenly revolt and attack: in the kitchen, at the beach, in the countryside. The nation panics. A special task force of unfunny comics is created to combat the attack. Etc. Now, in the right hands this could really be some pretty hilarious stuff--but director John De Bello makes the mistake of making a movie just as bad as those he's trying to parody, and this salad bar draws enough flies to put every restaurant in the nation out of business. Final thought: if you are trapped into sitting through this movie, make up a batch of REALLY strong Bloody Marys. It's the only way you'll survive.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: the best movie of its kind
Review: it is the best movie of its kin
