Summary: A must see film for anyone growing up gay in a strait world.
Review: This movie was simply FANTASTIC! The character roles both big and small had a way of pulling you into their lives. even the bit parts had a way of stealing the scene every time they were on screen. This movie will bring you into the world of two young Brittish boys as they come to grips with their sexuality in an unaccepting world. This movie makes me cry every time I watch it. It will not only make you proud of your sexuality but it will make you want to fall in love. The soundtrack by the Mommas and the Poppas is an excellent mood setter. I recommend you watch the movie a few times to make sure you understand all the Brittish slang. Definately a must see for the hopeless romantic.

Summary: Waste of Money
Review: This DVD is a complete waste of money. Sound and picture quality are mediocre. Do not buy this thinking you'll just turn off the annoying subtitles. You can't. Wait for the real thing, if it ever comes out in the States.

Summary: One of the best gay movies, ever!... VERY BAD DVD COPY!
Review: One of the best gay movies, ever!... VERY BAD DVD COPY! This movie get's 5 stars from me... however this BAD DVD copy get's 1 star (for sound quality).

-There is no main menu... and no way to remove the Chinese subtitles off the screen. Luckily the movie wasn't dubbed!

One interesting note though... I could actually understand the heavy British accents in the DVD copy better than from my old VHS copy...

Summary: Very beautiful
Review: This movie was very nice. It was often slow...and the main character's (Jaime) family are the only characters that are developed. The only problem is that they are the normal ones. His friend Ste is commonly bruised and is taken in by Jaime's mom for a night. We know why...but we don't know anything about the people involved. The homosexual relationship seems a bit contrived as well...even though they are neighbors, we see no foreshadowing interest in each other from either Jaime or Ste. It is Jaime's mom that suggests the sleep over which is supposed to be how the whole thing gets started...
Overall, the movie was very nice...It remains a good movie on its merits...
I recommend seeing this movie. The last 20 minutes are one of the best family realization and bonding scenes I have seen in any coming of age story.

Summary: the best there is
Review: not because it is believable. not because the boys are sweet and cute. not because it has any significant and groundbreaking messages dying to send out. it is simply a fairy tale that gay people are waiting for. a story that restores hope in a world that is no longer romantic or innocent. every actor in this movie is a gem; and together, their collaboration is seamless and synergistic. like wizard of oz, or the sound of music, it reinforces the idea that one can make his/her dream come true if one is determined and powered by love. as cliche as it may sound, life is supposed to be simple yet beautiful. this is a must see. must buy. must rejoice.

Summary: A Real Gem !
Review: A wonderful film - based on ordinary working class people in Southern England - a coming of age film that taps into the emotions - great acting / great simple script / great characters / great Mamas and Papas soundtrack - a MUST SEE MOVIE .
Incidently - if you want a good copy on DVD - purchase from Amazon.co.uk - but you better have a multi region player

Summary: The title says it all...
Review: Because this was one of the first gay-themed movies I ever saw it will always have a special place in my heart. It is truly a great movie. The story of two young people falling in love is nothing original, but what makes this story extraordinary is that it is two young men falling in love and how that fact affects their relationship. The setting of working class London adds to their difficulty in coming out and makes the end even more moving. I generally find the British to have superior acting skills and this is no exception. Gay or straight, Beautiful Thing is an entertaining heart-warming movie.

Review: WONDERFUL MOVIE!

Such a Joy to see something like this - at least on film. in real life? Ha! The poor kids would probably be stoned [literally]. Funny, I advised a friend to see this movie, her adopted son for some or other reason was 'seemingly' going through a similar situation. Well, that ruined the friendship!

It's a good movie for 'troubled' [?] teens to discover, and it is totally positive, forget the whole deal about intimacy, add the fact, and important fact, that it's two people communicating, understanding, and loving each other - just that!

There are also very funny moments in this landmark film [the supporting cast!]

And more fun? "Torch Song Trilogy", and that little Dutch gem -"For A Lost Soldier".

Summary: Just plain beautiful
Review: This is a feel good movie. It's about two young boys falling in love during a hot summer in a London neigborhood. Ste has a abusive father and Jamie is from a broken home and lives with his mother. They live next door to eath other.

This movie is very romantic and enjoyable for anybody. You defenitely don't have to be gay to love it. And if the story doesn't make you feel good the 60's music will.

I don't understand why it's R rated. There's no expliced sex in it. I would even encourage teens to watch it, so that they can see that being gay and falling in love is the same as being straight and falling in love. The only difference is the way other people react to it.

Summary: wonderful thing
Review: The most beautiful gay movie I have ever seen. Fresh, simple, touching.
The difficulty of coming out of two British teen-agers. Jamie is in love with Ste, the boy next door. Ste has family problems abused by his father and his brother.
A genuine story of two young boys who are looking for identity: both gay, in love with each other, they don't know anything about the world and the kind of life they are going to face.
But there is a happy ending!
A simple romantic story, beautiful sound-track(music from the 60s.) An excellent cast of actors.
Wonderful
