Summary: It's The "Scary Movie" For The Erotic Thrillers!!!
Review: "Scary Movie" made fun of hit horror movies like "Scream" and "The Blair Witch Project". This one makes fun of the hit drama/thriller movies like "Fatal Attraction", "Basic Instinct", "Sleeping With The Enemy", etc. All of which have to do with psychotic women killers and turbulent marriages. This movie re-creates scenes from all the movies while making them amusing and kind of stupid. Like the boiling pot, rollercoater, and bathtub scenes from "Fatal Attraction". It's pretty funny but gets kind of stupid and confusing.

Review: ...but don't count it out entirely. There are way too many gags in this movie that turn out to be simply pathetic rather than funny. The saxophone player, the football toss scene in the courtroom, the sex scene, believe me there are plenty of them. So many I can't name. Bottom line is, this film is funniest when it isn't trying to be. For a so-called comedy I don't know if that's good or bad. Anyway this film tries to be funny like Naked Gun but it falls terribly short. Armand Assante ( one of the most gorgeous guys on the planet ) is not a funny person at all. And I say that without prejudice because I am a big fan of his...just not as a comedian. He has no funny bone in his body. It was like watching Al Capone do stupid pet tricks ( it just didn't work ). Sherilyn Fenn was wasted. Kate Nelligan tried too hard to be funny. You can't go from being a serious actress for twenty years then do a comedy to revive your career. It doesn't work that way. Sean Young was the funniest of them all but she had less to do. The plot went here there and everywhere. Just because the film is a spoof doesn't mean it can break plot laws. It should still stick to one plot and one only. Even Naked Gun stuck to a plot. There were just too many jokes ( bad jokes ) in this film. Just too many. Every scene didn't have to have a gag. I felt Carl Reiner thought he needed to remind the audience not to take the film too seriously. He screwed up throwing in all those unnecessary jokes. Believe me...there were just too many! Every single second a gag was going on. If you're easily bored by wannabe comedy like me then twenty minutes into this will have you yawning like you sucked in laughing gas. I can't tell you not to watch this or not. It's up to you. It's okay to watch once, but the film tries too hard to be funny and that's its downfall. It needed to come naturally. After the first thirty minutes it kept getting sillier. Also I think Leslie Nielson should have been cast as Ned Revine. Armand Assante sucks as a comedian. Oh, what more can I say? No wonder I hadn't remembered this film in eleven years. God has it been that long already?

Summary: Fatal Attraction/Basic Instinct and them some
Review: Finally a movie that has a good plot that follows through to the end. Many films starting with "Airplane" became over the top parodies. Yet most of them were vehicles for one-liners. This Movie actually has a structure and ability for running gags. We learn many legal concepts like triple indemnity, and visuals on how to buff buns. You barley have time to catch your breath. At other moments you know what is has to happen and at the last minute find that you are being set up from the beginning.

All the actors fit the characters they play. I have to say I have always been fascinated by Sean Young so it took a little time to see her as Lola Cain. Her relation ship to the other characters helps you understand motive and her risqué messing around taught me many new terms.

Laura Lincolnberry (Sherilyn Fenn) plays an exaggerated perfect secretary with a past, adding to the layer of complexity and her encounter with Lola Cain has to be seen.

Summary: Carl Reiner's finest work
Review: First of all, in order to truly appreciate this movie, you've got to see "Fatal Attraction", "Body Heat", "Chinatown", and "Basic Instinct", which all came out within a few years of each other. They are great films which have a modern take of the "noir" period of filmmaking from the 1940's. (For Reiner's other great parody of that period, see "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid"). Here, Reiner has taken all of the cliched moments and turned them into great parodies of those films.

Assante as Ned Revine is hysterical with his incredible dead pan (I only wish Reiner had put out takes on the DVD). Reiner puts in non-stop jokes from start to finish. (I like the ceiling fan in the car, for example). Some of you may have to go back and forth to catch them all. To me this film is right up there with Mel Brooks, "Airplane", "Police Squad", and "Pink Panther" series for great modern (late 20th Century) comedy. Reiner who was a writer, director, actor and producer of television comedy for years (Your Show of Shows, Dick Van Dyke, etc), had highly developed comedic skills prior to his stint as movie director. Consequently, he brings a great sense of comic timing to this and all of his pictures. This is my personal favorite of his work.

Summary: A Title For Your Review
Review: I cant for the life of me work out how this film has gotten such good reviews? I love these slap stick kind of movies. But compared to the rest I've seen this Fatal Instinct holds no torch.

I had never heard of this film till I saw it in the cheapie bin of a DVD clearence pile and upon reading it was a slapstick comedy I thought it was going to be a barrel of laughs like simmaler movies. I was wrong. It started off ok, but the more it went along, the less funnier it got. It didnt have anything I would consider to be lasting quality either.

I give it 2 stars because it had a couple of bits I did laugh at, but this film could have been so much better.

I'd rather recomend instead of this movie...
- Kentucky Fried Movie
- Airplane 1& 2 / Flying High 1 & 2
- Naked Gun 1, 2 & 3
- Repossessed
- Silence Of The Hams
- Spaceballs
- HotShots 1 & 2
- Scary Movie
- Anything by Monty Python

Review: I first caught this movie on cable a few years ago and laughed so much my side started hurting! After that, I would watch it whenever I caught it on, sometimes missing half the movie but enjoying it just the same. If you like "Body Heat" "Fatal Attraction" and other movies of that ilk (which I do) you don't want to miss this spoof. It's all of those movies, rolled into one; the actors play it straight, which is more funny than if they had winked at the camera in each scene. The drama keeps rising with every scene, until it gets so ridiculous TWO people have to die in the end, simultaneously, and by the same hand.

Summary: Funny as all get out.
Review: I have watched this movie over and over again. Armand Assante, usually a serious actor, looks like he is really having fun in this crazy comedy. The writing and style of the comedy is excellent and when I wasn't laughing out loud, I was marvelling at the beauty of the writing.

Summary: Great Movie. But DVD is lacking.
Review: I loved this movie. It was hilarious. It is a spoof tha twas a response to the rash of, I don't how else to put it, "troubled marriage" movies that came out around this time. It makes fun of Fatal Attraction as well as Sleeping with the Enemy. Absolutly hilarious. HOWEVER, is only comes in STANDARD. I do not understand why a wide screen version is not available. The direector originally intended the movie to be widescreen. Keep it that way. If you must have one side of the DVD Standard and the other side widescreen. Grrr....

Summary: Wonderfully funny movie
Review: Love this movie! After watching it on TV for the umptenth time, have decided to buy the DVD. It will be great to pull off the shelf for a good time! It's a humorous compilation of several good thriller/suspense movies, with a 1950-60s backdrop. Love the scene where they call recess during the courtroom trial.
