Summary: I Expected A Less Ordinary Movie
Review: What was this????? After two masterpieces, "Shallow Grave" and "Trainspotting", Danny Boyle directed this offbeat road movie about a awkward shy guy (Ewan McGregor) who kidnaps his boss`s arrogant daughter (Cameron Diaz) and they soon begin a wacky trip together. Add a couple of angels (Holly Hunter and Delroy Lino) whose job it to make the youngsters fall in love with each other.

The premise is original and witty enough, but unfortunately the movie is too uneven, combining chase sequences, karaoke dances, romantic comedy elements, dark humor and some gore that don`t mix very well. It has its funny moments and touching scenes, even if those seem somewhat lost in the postmodernist plot that`s weird just because. Problem is, despite some style, decent acting (Diaz is alright, McGregor is great and hilarious) and a hip soundtrack, this cinematic experience feels empty and lacks a point. I won`t even get into the over-the-top ending (but in this movie anything is possible anyway). And I could live without those angels, too.

Well, after the excellent "Trainspotting", this one really is disappointing, though it`s watchable as an average, not-too-good-not-terrible popcorn movie. Despite the witty ideas, the final result is just ordinary.

Summary: somewhere beyond the sea.....
Review: As close to magical realism as American cinema can get....a fairly flawless film. One of Ewan's most endearing (i.e. bumbling) roles.

Summary: now this is good quality entertainment
Review: i would have to agree with many of the above reviews in saying that this is a great movie.
Ewan and Cameron were great, i think the plot was very unrealistic...but arn't movies supposed to be?
I loved it...check it out if you havent seen it... its a gooood one!

Summary: I almost peed.
Review: This movie has very... either dry or dark humor, I'm not sure which. If you have an open mind about movies, you will absolutely love it! I laughed so hard, Ewan McGregor is delightfully funny and coy, Cameron Diaz is sassy and awesome. I reccomend this movie to everyone, I absolutely loved it!

Summary: Personally...It's my favorite movie of all time
Review: This film is for those of us who are hopeless romantics in hiding. Eccentric, imaginative, deadpan, quick-pulsed, and beautifully hopeful. This film is not ment to be torn apart and analyzed as though it were an extremely deep David Lynch film. It is what it is: lighthearted, and less ordinary. The characters are odd enough to be slightly unpredictable (Holly Hunter especially). There are enough turns in the story to keep a kenetic and lively pace. As the title suggests, the events in the film are not typical in day to day living, in fact the events in this film are not typical in any life. It's a splendid fantasy in every aspect. I've watched this film countless times and I'm as fond of it now as I was when I saw it for the first time a handfull of years ago. Do yourself a favor and indulge in a life less ordinary.

Summary: Insane yet perfect fun!
Review: Romance, humor, action...this movie has it all! The acting was superb! I truly enjoyed Holly Hunter's O'Reilly character. I just love how she handled her role! Excellent! Delroy Lindo also had the skill and experience to breathe some true life into his character Jackson. Mcgregor and Diaz made the perfect pair.

The story was totally original...totally DIFFERENT and original. I really enjoyed the music. "Velvet Divorce", "Leave", and "Round Are Way" were my favorites. When I bought the CD, I was kind of disappointed. R.E.M.'s "Leave" wasn't the same version as in the movie. It was slow, but still good. "Round Are Way" wasn't even ON the CD.

All-in-all, "A Life Less Ordinary" was fantastic. Definitely a must-see. It would make a perfect addition to anyone's DVD collection.

Summary: The worst movie I have seen in my life
Review: I'm glad I can review it, if only to warn people never to watch this piece of complete and utter garbage. It took me a long time to be able to watch any movie that had either Diaz or MacGregor in it after this one, merely because of how much it stunk.

Its a shame I can only go as low as one star, it deserves a lot less than that. It's boring, hard to follow, completely stupid and I'm still not quite certain what exactly happened at the end. Sitting and staring at a blank wall for two hours would be more interesting than this movie, so as a warning, DON'T BUY OR EVEN WATCH IT!!

Summary: Talented actors wasted in lousy movie! Wasted money to rent!
Review: Wow, it seems a shame that the lovely Cameron Diaz can be in so many mediocre to awful movies. This ranks down near the bottom, in the same category as THE SWEETEST THING. Both movies have talented, likeable actors, but the story in both never really takes off. This is just an excuse to put the main actors (a pathetic loser who wants to write a novel and a pampered, cruel woman with an even more selfish father) in uncomfortable and rarely funny circumstances. The sub plot of two angels sent down from Heaven (a police station!- Ahhhh!) to intervene is handled equally poorly as other parts; rather than having a worthy example of what Angles can look like (example- Cary Grant from THE BISHOP'S WIFE) the two show only interest in preventing their punishment of spending eternity on earth rather than Heaven. I tried to be kind, but this is a dismal picture and one I wish I had stopped after the first few minutes rather than wasting both my time and money with!

Summary: Classic but New and Edgy.
Review: From the back of the box you already know it's going to be a romantic comedy and that Ewan MgGregor and Cameron Diaz are going to play characters who fall in love...but since it is from the same team as Trainspotting it goes about it in a twisted way. Rob (McGregor)flips when his he loses his job and his girlfriend and holds his boss Mr. Neville at gunpoint, demanding his job back. Not being much of a criminal mastermind, he flounders and ends up kidnapping the boss's daughter Celine(Diaz) which digs himself in deeper. As he flounders more and more, his kidnappee becomes his partner in more ways then one, as they escape from Mr. Neville and two fallen angels who will do anything to get Celine and Rob together. Rob and Celine are helped along the way by Celine's brain-damaged exboyfriend dentist (Stanely Tucci) and a strange backwoods lunatic. There is also a confusing appearance of the actor from the TV show Monk and we never find out exactly what he is. It's a strange movie but absolutely hilarious. McGregor has slapstick down, and even without that the dialogue is very crisp and, more times then not, witty. There is also a nice karaoke scene for fans of McGregors voice, featuring Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darrin, and Diaz dances a bit. There are twists toward the end, so it keeps you guessing. It is probably the best romantic comedy I've ever seen.

Summary: Excellent but strange!
Review: I loved all the movie but specially the beginnig. Cameron Diaz is so perfect in her role, it's amazing. All the kidnapping part is very funny and you won't be bored. The movie gets more and more strange and I didn't really undestand the end. The angels act so strange, but I just enjoyed it without trying to understand!
I really liked everything, the caracters are attaching and the actors are great. This is one of the strangest movies I've ever seen but it isn't annoying.
