Summary: An overlooked masterpiece!
Review: This film had the misfortune to be released slightly after Chris Rock's far-inferior Rap music satire, "CB4," and, therefore, disappeared without a trace. What a crime! This comedy stands far above not only "CB4" but most other comedies released at the time and since. It doesn't break any new ground: it's a mock documentary on a fictitious Rap group ["N.W.H." (Niggas With Hats)] and their rise and fall. It does for Rap what "This Is Spinal Tap!" does for Heavy Metal and no less effectively, I might add. Indeed, there are many similarities between this film and "Tap" (just as Tap can't keep a drummer, N.W.H. can't keep a white manager) but this flick does NOT come off as a pale rip off. Writer-director-star Rusty Cundeiff never again reached the hilarious heights scaled here (his subsequent films are the good "Tales From the Hood" and the abysmal "Sprung") with his fantastic debut. All the performances are spot on, from working actors you've seen many times before but whose names you probably don't remember. N.W.H. features Cundeiff, Larry B. Scott ("Lamar" from "Revenge of the Nerds"), and Mark Christopher Lawrence (who's done more commercials and TV guest spots than you can shake a stick at) and the Interviewer is essayed by Kasi Lemmons who shortly thereafter ditched acting to become a director ("Eve's Bayou"). The film does a remarkably thorough job in hitting all the appropriate satirical targets (rival rap groups, misogynistic lyrics, L. A. riots, groupies, etc.). There has not been one person I know whose viewed this film and has NOT become a "Hat" convert. It is simply a hysterical comedy in a day and age where quality laughs are in short supply.

Summary: Laughs and more laughs
Review: This movie is often touted as a "cult classic". Take my word for it; you'll put it in that same catagory after you've watched it. One of my all-time favorite movie lines is at the end of this fil m, but the journey getting there, is all the fun. Laugh hearty!

Summary: Funniest I've Seen In My Life (So far)
Review: I am not kidding, this is the funniest movie I ever seen in my life. At one point when the jokes were coming non-stop back-to-back, I couldn't see the screen anymore because of the tears. I had to calm down to keep from getting an aneurysm. Very smart and original screenplay. This movie didn't get wide release because CB4 was released around that time which wasn't as funny.

Summary: It ain't that kind of party!
Review: If you have ever seen this flick, you know that this is THE rap-umentary! You'll have to scavenge your local video store to find a copy to rent...but it is TOTALLY worth it! Hopefully the studio will see the light and put this bad boy out on DVD....but until then...RENT IT! If you remember the early and middle 80's rap and hip hop scene, you will laugh your posterior off. This movie is a parody of EVERYTHING cool that happened during that period. Watch it once, watch it twice, watch it thrice...and you will jump on the band wagon that this movie deserves to be released on DVD with full-on commentary....original aspect ratio...and al of the other goodies that have made DVD the format of choice.

Summary: How can this be out of print?!?!?
Review: This is one of the greatest movies ever made.

From beginning to end, this is one of the most entertaining movies I've ever seen. Star Wars ain't ... compared to this. So many lines from this movie still make me laugh out loud it's absurd.

All I have to say is, "187 on the CB4 block."

Summary: Fear of a Black Hat is a dope track
Review: This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. It is leaps and bounds above the quality of CB4 in every way. Rusty Cundieff's opus about the faux hip hop group N.W.H. touches on all of the right points to skewer the current state of hip hop in a film that greatly outshines its logical inspiration, This is Spinal Tap.

Summary: Incredibly Funny!
Review: Fear of a Black Hat has got it all. The parody-of-urban music movie is a must see for any hip hop lover. Words don't describe how funny this movie is.

"...so it's like yo'... we've got hat's!"

Summary: Turn off your computer and go rent it now!
Review: The hip hop version of This Is Spinal Tap. Right now, disconnect your modem, file, exit, shut down your computer, go to your nearest video store and RENT IT! Don't come home until you've found it! It is awesome. A little old, but its content still rings true today. A must see for laughs.

Summary: Maybe even more funny than "Friday"
Review: I have seen "Fear of a Black Hat"a uncountable number of times, yet i still cry with laughter ever i see it! One of the best things about the movie are the well written and preformed songs and music videos. From "My Peanuts"to "Booty Juice" to "Just a Human Bean" you will be singing along. This is a movie that everyone should see! So see "Fear of a Black Hat", or like my man Taste T would say "I'll busta cap in yo *ss!"

Summary: The Funniest- Nonstop
Review: What can i say. I taped this off showtime 2 and been showing everywhere i go and the reaction is the same: hilarious. There are so many moments in this movie that are hilarious, just watch it when the Jam Boys and NWH talk to the little kids about violence. That guy on the far right is hilarious: "Show em your wounds!" "KNOXX! " You gotta see it. If you dont well, FYM, ASMD( not ASMBD because Ice is more of a mocoa colored mofo), put ya in that mofoing place with all the creeps and mofos, and dont let this movie sit in the back bin with all the f-uped videos
