Summary: 80's At Their Best
Review: John Cusack is definately one of my favorite actors, I've never seen a movie of his I didn't like. I graduated high school in 1985 so I grew up with this movie and others like it. You have a high school student deeply in love with a very shallow girl and losing her to mister flavor of the month. Skiing is the war they have to play and so they do. There is much hilarity to the way everything is played out even the suicde attemps that Cusack makes. Depending on how old you are, you might love this movie or not get it at all. If you are in your thirties, I would buy this movie and remember the good times.

Summary: TWO DOLLARS
Review: There are not a lot of 80s teen movies that I MUST HAVE. This is one of them.. I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS.

Quirky, witty and well done.

I laughed as hard as I did the first time I saw this.

Summary: I want my FOUR dollars!
Review: Man, oh man. After hearing this is "not like" the other 80's teen films, and that it was some people's favorite film ever, I wanted to rent it. I did, and let me tell you, it was lacking a story and uninspired. Now, who am I to say that? I undertand that it's a cult film, and I like some cult films nobody else likes (UHF), so for me, maybe this is not the film. Cult films only work with a set number of people, but boy, oh boy, do they work with those people. Speaking of the dvd, though, Paramount does their general "pay more, get less" philosophy. Of course, why would you make a special edition of a cult film, right? It's really sad, because of course, if you are one of the cult followers of this film, you are going to buy this, and Paramount recognizes that, so there's nothing. The picture is anamorphic, but it really is not that good. I haven't seen this in a theater or beta or vhs, but I saw part of the laserdisc, and part of a Comedy Central broadcast, and the dvd isn't greatly improved. It has grain like a vhs. Although I personally didn't care for the film, this makes me sad; if you are a cult fan of this film, you'll watch it constantly, right. You'll even pay ..., when really it's worth, well, 2. They are giving you essentially a transfer of the laserdisc at the great expense of you. I see my favoreit cult film, UHF, getting a special edition treatment. I see the Rocky Horror Picture Show getting extra treatment. Ther is nothing here. Nothing. There is the movie, plain old 2-channel stereo (only in english), and subtitles (only in English). That's it. Not a trailer, nor a production note. Hey, guess what? Chuck Mitchell, who owned "Porky's" in Porky's, owns "The Pig Burger" in this film. There are obvious things that I'm sure fans of this film would like to know. Has anybody seen Savage Steve Holland? A commentary track would be nice. And, like most 80's films (especially John Hughes's one's), I'm sure there are deleted scenes. I was shocked to see that this film had a dual layer. The film wasn't my favorite, but that generally is what a cult film is supposed to be. They are very selective. But I can relate to everyone else who wants some of their favorites that nobody else likes on dvd (The Ref?). Thank you for taking tje time to read my review, and feel free to leave a helpful/not helpful feedback to my review. God Bless America!

Summary: TRULY A SIGHT TO BEHOLD...
Review: This film captures the essence of the confused, surreal blur that is high school. Ever feel like the only one in class that's completely lost? Ever feel like throwing yourself off a bridge when the love of your young life ditches you for someone more popular? Ever wonder what in God's name your mother cooked last night? Then this movie's for you. What's so special about this film is that it lets fantasy creep in just enough to elevate the reality to its most empathetic form. We've all felt the pain of our frazzled protagonist--but this movie actually let's you see a surreal extension of those feelings. Your'e not just watching it...you're invested in it.
Let me also add that in capturing the 80's teen scene, this movie succeeds remarkably. Being a sort of "Fast Times at Ridgemeont High" on acid, this movie takes the excess of 80's teen living and paints a nostalgic portrait--mostly hilarious, at times wistful, and even poignant.

Summary: COOL CUSACK
Review: As ever, this is typical John Cusack material. He exudes cool and the mix of surreal comedy blended with romance really does make for a great film with plenty of laughs. I love the "Snorting Snow" Bit. I first saw this on rental around 1986 and managed to get a copy on vhs(pal) in '93. But why oh why won't you release this to us Brits on region 2 dvd.(Including a couple of other Cusack titles not yet available to us).

Summary: My perfect Valentines movie
Review: Hey there. I wanted you to know that I loved this movie. It is extremely humourous with the high school twist that everyone goes through. Maybe not to this extreme but it is still very humourous. This is the movie that I watch on Valentines day without fail. No matter what the mood I am in it cheers me up. I hope you like the movie as well, and have a great day!

Summary: 5-Star Movie, 3-Star DVD Quality
Review: This was one of my wife's favorite movies, and definitely worth the title of a 'classic'. After all these years, I still love the aardvark jacket scene. However, after waiting so long to finally have it released on DVD, I was disappointed in the quality. Video quality was a bit sharper then VHS, but still grainy and nowhere near DVD quality. The audio was also pretty poor. This DVD desperately needs a special edition remastered version.

Summary: ...do you realize what the street value of this mountain is?
Review: First let me say that I can't believe someone actually could write a bad review of this movie. This has got to be one of my all time favorites. Better off dead works on more levels than an elevator. From the Beth obsessed Lane to the crazed paperboy the characters are true to themselves and never let the viewer down. Its the kind of movie that just having it around brightens your day- anyone who has ever seen it instantly cracks up at hearing "two dollars". Try it! Go to a mall and shout out "I want my two dollars" you'll instantly make about 20 new friends. What other movie can get away with a line like "I'm really sorry your Mom blew up" and not have to get all preachy. Buy it and the next time you think your life sucks watch it. It'll brighten your day.

Summary: I don't understand why this movie has an ave of 4.5 stars
Review: I watched this movie the other day...a friend told me that it is one of the all-time greats. I started thinking that this would be like 'One Crazy Summer', but alas, NO. This has got to be one of the stupidest movies I honestly think that I have ever seen.

The jokes are just way out there...One of the reviews I read even stated that this was one of the funniest movies he has seen in a long time. You've got to be kidding me...I understand that this is an 80's flick with 80's humor. I like 80's humor, if its good, but this is just plain stupid. Eating jello through a straw with your nose, the chinese kid that talks like Howard Cossel (excuse the spelling), and the dad wearing an ardvark jacket with an ardvark head as a hoodie (these are just a few, of the many, examples).

The only good part about this movie was the little brother and his books on how to pick up trashy women and how too build a space shuttle out of house hold junk. That was sort of amusing, but all in all this movie was a waste of my time....I just don't understand how or why I could sit through the whole thing.

Its an enigma...I don't think I'll ever understand.

Don't waste your time.
