Summary: A different kind of movie
Review: Ah, the good old days of Jr. high. Remember the kid you used to pick on, or maybe you were that kid. Well relive it,but in a funny way, through Dawn Weiner (aka: weiner dog). This is a movie that most everyone can relate to on some level. I recommend you check it out.

Summary: NOT FUNNY!
Review: I think people who consider this movie funny are sadistic. But because everyone of us is some kind of sadistic, you can really laugh! There comes the moment when you think it can't get worse for Dawn, but a few minutes later it does! At the end, I felt great and was happy with my life. So if you have depressions, WATCH THIS MOVIE!

Summary: Brutal and uncompromising
Review: God, did this flick bring back memories, and many painful. Though not on the 'level' of Dawn in my junior high experience, I was definatly down there, attracting negativity like a fly to flypaper--and like Dawn, most of it was perpetuated by my own confusions and secret desires for attention and relationships no matter the destructive end.

And that, to me, is what 'Welcome to the Dollhouse' is all about: relationships, or the lack thereof in Dawn's life. It is easy to draw all sorts of parallels from this movie (this 'fantasy') into the real world. Where to begin? In her family, the father is barely present, the mother is domineering and dotes on the 'perfect' sister, and the brother has, to say the least, a one-track mind concerning education. Dawn is the freak, the sore thumb, the blot on this suburbian portrait, as so excellently pointed out in the opening scene. Starved for contact, Dawn lusts after the town pedophile and is turned on by the school bully who threatens to rape her (this sounds horrific, but the moments of these two on screen are among the most poignant and subtly effective of any acting at any age). Dawn's best friend adores her like a puppy and of course is spurned for such devotion. Whoever made this film creates a startling statement about what we want and what we attract.

Best of all is the ending, which I will not spoil, but it was a great relief that 'Welcome to the Dollhouse' didn't end up a happy Hollywood cop-out.

Watch the last scene. Observe all the 'bees' droning on in harmony, and the one voice among so many others...chilling. An excellent film. Should be required watching for 12 and 13 year olds.

Summary: A Waste of Film
Review: This is by far the worst movie I've ever seen (worse than the horse whisperer). It's too dark, too much despair, and you just know if it was real the girl would've committed suicide shortly after.

Summary: BUY IT
Review: This was the BEST movie Ihave ever seen. I never stopped laughing. I watch it over and over again. I even mock some lines from it ALL THE TIME. BUY IT! THIS IS A CLASSIC #1

Summary: A Bitingly Funny Classic!!
Review: Todd Solondz's "WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE" is a bitingly funny classic about the misery of adolescence. It follows Dawn "Wienerdog" Weiner, a junior high geek that even the nerds hate! She is constantly teased and threatened by peers. Her parents favor the spoiled younger sister, and genius older brother. Dawn is considered a loner, with the exception of a younger friend, Ralphy. She almost becomes rape victim of Brandon McCarthy, the school bully. The confused girl also developes a plan to seduce the lead of the high-school garage band, Steve Rodgers. Critics called this a "mordantly hilarious suburban comedy." It is so accurate in the way that it shows what growing up in suburbia is really like. Some say that every middle child should see it. - Joey Layou Jr.

Summary: THIS MOVIE IS THE FUNNIEST MOVIE EVER MADE
Review: This movie shows what it's like to be a reject in junior high. This movie is great. Dawn (Wienerdog)Weiner, is the biggest geek, and her family is worse. It's great to laugh at what a loser Dawn is, but it's the best when she tries to seduce the highschool hottie. Everybody should see this movie. It'totally awesome.

Summary: Rotten. Depressing. Sad. Unsatisfying. Beautiful.
Review: If your wish is to view a movie with a nice, neat storyline, stunning camera work, interesting and endearing characters, and a neat, happy ending to make you feel warmfuzzy glad about yourself and your silly little whitebread life, do not view this movie. Go watch something with Tom Cruise in it. The characters here are selfish, rotten, petty creatures and the ending denies any kind of closure. It's a funny film, yet there's something deadly serious about its humor--some of it just hits too close to the truth to be comfortable. It's an uncomfortable movie, and when it's over you feel cheated and unsatisfied. They OWE you a happy ending, right? Don't they? Selfish, aren't you?

Summary: "I think it summarizes the life of a middle child"
Review: Welcome to the Dollhouse is a perversley, funny movie. It is one of those movies that a viewer either loves or hates. "Weinerdog" is a typical nerdy middle schooler who is trying to break out of her "nerdy" family mold. I think it is hilarious how there is the prissy spoiled younger sister and the genius overachiever brother. This movie displays what real life families in America, with three kids is really like, whether we want to admit it or not. I reccommend watching this movie relaxed and with no expectations, because then the themes and realities of real life are visible. Middle children will love this movie...I guarantee it.
