Review: dont have alot to say about the movie. just one thing. i have seen this movie quite a few times at drive ins . and on HBO, and cinemax. they cut some parts out of the movie on the rhino dvd. not sure about it on vhs??. most likely thats complete. i feel cheated. other wise the movie looked realy good on dvd. if you dont mind a few things missing out of the movie. then i think you will be happy with its quality. after all! the movie came out in the late 70s.

Summary: Malibu Beach is a MUST for ALL Collectors of the Genre
Review: I am amazed that i am the first to write a review of this film! It is most definitely an American Cult Classic that i remember (fondly) played at the local Drive-In whilst i was growing up. As i was only 10 when this film came out, i was obviously too young to be allowed to see it. I recall it playing on Channel 5 (WNYW) back in '82, (i believe), & eagerly waited to finally see it (albeit edited as it was presented). I loved it, & couldn't wait to FINALLY see the complete (unedited) R-Rated version, which i was nearly close to doing, till i'd prepared to put an order in for MB in VHS format, & discovered much to my chagrin that it had been discontinued. Urghhh... At any rate, i soon was over the moon upon discovering that Rhino Video released the film in DVD (even better)!!!!! This film is entertaining from beginning to end. Sexy, wholesome Boy-Next-Door James Daughton pursues his interest in Lifeguard Dina, portrayed by Kim Lankford, & becomes a rival to Iron-pumping bully, Dugan, adequately played by Stephen Oliver. The plot moves at a steady pace & is just a very uplifting & light film with plenty of fun & laughs & with Sexy Guys the Caliber of dreamy Stephen Oliver & Ooooohhh that All-American, Sexy James Daughton, i could never tire of this DVD. I'm actually going to order another copy of this DVD!!! I am also bonkers over the Theme Song of the film, & always have been growing up, but cannot find it anywhere. I guess till i do find the Soundtrack someplace, i can keep replaying it on my DVD!!! LOL. JAMES DAUGHTON is good in The Beach Girls, as well, (which i've also got & highly recommend) but i love the fact that we see more of his talent here! Bottom line, this is well worth the price for any true collector of those old 1970's Drive-in Classics. Even if it were twice the price, it'd still be well worth it (I hope California Dreaming, & Cherry Hill High come out on DVD soon, too)! The Cast, & story is well worth the time & money. Now hopefully Rhino will release a Letterbox addition for us avid Malibu fans! :-)
