Summary: Cheers - The Second Season
Review: A wonderful classic show. It's hard to believe that the second season first aired on television over 20 years ago! God, are we really getting that old?

The condition of the episodes on these DVDs is amazing. The film transfer is sharp and the colors are vibrant. Last week I was channel surfing and came across an episode from the first season. The colors looked horrible, so I decided to pull out the DVD and play it at the same time so I could switch back and forth to compare. What an amazing difference! Like night and day. It's great to have this show immortalized on DVD in such fantastic condition. The second season's film quality is just as good.

Hopefully, with the continuing success of these DVD sets, we'll get some cast/crew commentaries for future seasons.

My only gripe about the second season set is the horrible box cover art. As a magazine art director, I am amazed that the creative team at Paramount signed off on the fuzzy, murky images that grace the box cover. Very unprofessional looking.

Summary: Tremendous!!
Review: Absolutely the best show of all time. Phenominal cast, and terrific writing. Ted Danson is the best actor in TV history, and he deserved more than 2 Emmy's."Just Three Friends", and "Cliffs' Rocky Moment" are two of the funniest episodes of all time. Absolutely hysterical. "CHEERS" season 2 is excellent, just as good as the first season, if not just a tad better. My only problem , I agree with Don H, is the terrible cover. Sam is much taller than Diane , not the same size, and the smile they put on Sam is oviously(sorry wrong spelling)not his. Anybody can see it is digitally added. Plus I've seen the real picture , and he is not smiling. But I digress, it is a terrific set , and everybody should own it. Cliff is the best.

Summary: Season 4 To Come
Review: According to tvshowsondvd.com, they are speculating that the 4th season of "Cheers" will be released in January. Paramount hasn't made an official release date, but still, it's something to look forward to.

Summary: No sound here either
Review: As one other review mentioned, there must be a defective batch of these Cheers season 2 DVDs. The copy I got also has no sound. I've trying playing them on Samsung and Go Video DVD players, and the result was the same on both - perfect picture, but no sound.

It gets even odder when I try to play them on computer DVD drives - my home computer won't play the DVDs at all, while my computer at work plays them fine with both picture and sound.

Please note that my 1 star rating is not a comment on the quality of the show - Cheers is one of my all-time favorite TV shows and I'm really looking forward to watching season two. But the frustration of dealing with this sound issue is what prompted the 1 star review.

Update: After returning the set TWICE, I finally got a copy that would play on my Go Video DVD player with sound (plus it also works in my XBox). But when I tried to play it on the Samsung player (my main player, since it's hooked up to my home theater system), there was still no sound. As a last ditch thing to try, I turned the progressive scan feature off of my Samsung player and...well, I think I got sound. Once. I could swear it worked the first time I tried it with the progressive scan turned off. But every subsequent attempt has had no audio, regardless of the progressive scan setting.

Paramount should be ashamed of themselves for the shoddy quality of these Cheers season 2 DVDs.

Review: Cheers is the best show ever!! I bought the First Season the day it came out, and I'll buy the Second Season the day it comes out.The writing is brilliant, the acting is the best that's ever been on TV. The First and Second Season are the the best seasons ever!! Along with the 3rd, 4th, 5th etc. The whole show is great and there is not one thing wrong with it. Anybody who is anybody will own this, along with the First Season, and every other season that comes out. I have alot of respect for this show. So join Sam, Cliff, Coach, Carla, Norm, and Diane, in the Second Season of the greatest show ever!!! Pull up a stool, and get ready to laugh with the gang at the Boston bar where everybody knows your name. CHEERS

Summary: One of the all-time greats
Review: Cheers was and is considered one of the great sitcoms of all time, and for good reason. One of the great failings of most sitcoms is the tendency to overload on one type of humor, to go too over the top or play it too straight. Cheers did both consistently well, as well as creating a lovable cast of losers who, in many ways, needed each other to survive.

The scene is set: a small bar in Boston, whose interractions among regulars and staff form the center of the show. The second season has bartender and ex-ballplayer Sam Malone and perpetual grad student Diane Chambers caught up in the ecstacies of romance. Their relationship made up many of the funny moments and a few serious ones in this season. There was also plenty of mirth coming from barfly Norm Peterson, postman Cliff Claven, the surly waitress Carla, and the confused Coach. The humor here is brilliant yet understated, as opposed to the later years of the show, which grew more raucous. The humor and warmth here comes from the people and the relationships, which was Cheers' greatest accomplishment: it made viewers wish they had a Cheers of their own.

For those of you who miss Cheers, there's now a chance to relive it. The second season will not disappoint.

Summary: One of the Best Seasons of Cheers!!
Review: Greatest show ever bar none. No pun intended. A classic, and a phenominal sitcom, for any decade. Its still hilarious after all these years. Sam and Cliff are my two favorite characters, but I love them all. I love Cheers. My favorite show of all time. So join the cast where everybody knows your name. You'll be glad you came.

Summary: Cheers to a hit sitcom's second season!
Review: Here are the episodes that NBC aired from September 1983 to May 1984. The original six cast members return with no newcomers yet. Before the beginning of this season,Shelley Long had already wrapped up filming "Irreconcilable Differences" with Ryan O'Neal,a Warner Bros. drama. I'm sure Cheers was at least nominated for more Emmys in 1984. This season is really not different from 1982-83.

Summary: HORRIBLE!
Review: How can anyone like this show? It's so stupid and Shelly Long is annoying! Instead of putting this dumb crud out for the public why not instead look at GOOD shows? Like Family Ties or Growing Pains! THOSE WERE GOOD EIGHTIES SHOWS!!

CARLA NEEDS TO SHUT UP!!!!!!!!
