Summary: All Righty Then!!
Review: Ace Ventura was hilarious! Carrey was still playing the same over-the-top character just as he did back at "In Living Color". It was funny from start to finish. Now, everytime somebody asks me a question, I just say "All Righty Then!!" END

Summary: Very Great Movie
Review: This movie is so funny I could just watch it again and again. If you don't like Jim Carrey you would still love this movie. I think this movie is sooo good. Every time I watch it (even though I know all of the words) it is still very funny.

Summary: A Classic Comedy!
Review: I have watched this movie so many times over and over, yet I am still entertained each time. This movie will keep you watching until the end just to see what hilarious antics Jim Carrey will do next. I have enjoyed most of his other movies but this one is his best. Get for a good laugh and a good time.

Summary: Funny Movie; So-So DVD
Review: The movie is a comedic classic now. Jim Carrey's exaggerated physical comedy is great, and the story of "Ace Ventura" is a perfect fit for those talents. I laugh a lot when I watch this movie. Ok, 'nuf said about the movie itself.

The DVD is sparse on features. The traditional "Special Features" section actually doesn't have any special features. It's just a few lines of text, blurbing nothing really interesting. There's the also the traditional commentary audio track, and subtitles in English and French. Oh, and the Trailers for both Ace movies. That's pretty much everything on the DVD.

I'm the kind of person that doesn't really care about a DVD being loaded with special features, and even I was disappointed by this DVD.

Summary: Great flick, okay DVD
Review: This movie has become a cult classic, a smash hit on it's release, and the character "Ace Ventura" now a pop icon. It will be interesting to see if he is still recognized in 2015.
Jim Carrey stars as Ace Ventura, with Courtney Cox as the leading lady, Sean Young as the villiam, and Dan Marino in his biggest acting role to date.
If nothing else, this movie is a joy to Marino fans.
Aside from that, this is Jim Carrey's breakthrough role, and quite a hilarious film. The only dissapointment is the lack of DVD features. There is feature commentary by director Tom Shadyac, but there were sooo many scenes shot for this movie that didn't make the final cut, it would have been really nice to see them included as special features in this movie. Alas, it doesn't look like another edition will be coming out anytime soon, and this movie is well worth your money anyways.

Summary: Ace hero or beast?
Review: This was Jim Carrey's first starring film and was an instant success. In fact, box office receipts came to over $5 million in the first week since its theatrical release on March 4,1994. Great moral support from pre-Friends Courteney Cox. Carrey plays the title role who's of course,a pet detective searching for lost pets. Man,he was silly. This film became priced-to-own(on VHS) when it was released on home video in the fall of 1994.

Summary: NOTHIN SPECIAL.
Review: I must admitt Jim Carry is one of my favorite actors, But I was disapointed with this movie. Jim carry is a great physical comedian, and I think this role fitts him just right. But sometimes it can get a little old. In my mind Jim Carry was over acting. In certain points of the movie I would occasioally chuckle, but the plot made no scence. Bottom line, OK movie. bye.

Review: "He's the best there is! (Actually, he's the only one there is.)"

A goofy detective specializing in animals goes in search of a missing dolphin mascot of the Miami Dolphins football team as they prepare for the Superbowl. Tom Shadyac (The Nutty Professor, Liar Liar, Patch Adam, Dragonfly, and Bruce Almighty) teams up with Jim Carrey for his first "real" hit (I liked him in Once Bitten also). I must say, I am a big fan of all three movies Carey has made with Shadyac, they should probably team up more often.

As I stated above, as Jim Carey's first major movie, Ventura reminds me of characters Carey portrayed on In Living Color. As for Jim Carey, yes I am a big fan of his funny movies. I'm not a big fan of his serious movies. I prefer his roles in this type of movie, along w/Bruce Almighty, The Mask, Liar Liar, Me myself and Irene, Dumb and Dumber, and The Grinch. I am not as big of a fan of The Truman Show, or Man on the Moon. I really looked forward to Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, However, it was a huge disappointment; not so much because of Carey's character, but because it almost seemed like he had to figure it out as he went, and there was little direction.

However, this review is about Ace Ventura, which also costarred Courtney Cox (Scream 1, 2, 3, 3000 Miles to Graceland, and Friends), who did a wonderful job in this role. Cox very much seemed to take this role seriously, despite this type of comedy this was. Nevertheless, she was not your token female costar who falls in love with the cookie funny guy (though she does). Her character had to be mad at him, embarrassed, intrigued, and dependant all at the same time. She was very, very good.

This movie is a classic, and belongs in your DVD collection. There is a funny part of this movie for everyone. Ace Ventura has an interesting plot, fun story, and better then expected acting. I strongly recommend having this movie in your DVD collection, because if your looking for laugh out loud funny, this is it.

Summary: HIDE ALL THE SMALL ANIMALS!!!
Review: Jim Carrey may be the 90s answer to Jerry Lewis. With his shameless mugging, physical comic prowess and weird voices, Carrey takes the wildest of the Lewis films and creates his own manic monsters.
ACE VENTURA of course is the one that started it all and it is shamelessly funny and occasionally ribald humor. Carrey soars in the role and receives some able support from a rather stiff Sean Young (You find out why later in the film), Courteney Cox as Carrey's Dean Martin and even Dan Marino as the heroic foil. There are several immensely comic moments, and the whole movie packs a wallop. Carrey may not be for everyone's tastes but there's no denying he can carry a zany movie like this one.

Summary: Jim Carrey's first and possible all-time hit !
Review: Pet Detective is what got me started on Jim Carrey flicks. This movie has a very entertaining plot along with good wise cracks from you know who. I really didn't find anything wrong with the film. Even after seeing it for the 10th time, it still holds my interest and makes for an enjoyable hour and a half.
