Summary: A GOOD LAUGH!
Review: If you like a good chuckle this movie is for you.
Jim Carrey plays the part of a Pet Detective looking
for the stolen Miami Dolphins team Mascot "Snowflake"
the Dolphin, and is joined by lovely co-star Courtney Cox, whose presence adds a little flare to the movie. Be prepared for a rollercoaster ride of adventures and laughs as Ace eliminates one suspect after another in his zany ways! To me this movie was quite entertaining, quick paced and didn't leave me with a yawn! Good job!
I believe it's worth your time! Enjoy!

Summary: Sometimes I hurt from laughter
Review: This movie is side-splitting. Jim Carrey's comedic timing is right on the eccentric yet somehow brilliant Ace Ventura. You just can't help but love his disguise for the mental institution; he fits right in!

Unfortunately, the DVD is a little bland, with not much to offer over the director's commentary. No deleted scenes, or any of the fun stuff. But hey, I bought it just for the pure pleasure of repeated viewings.

I would reccommend this film to anyone with a sense of humor.

Summary: Things aren't always what they seem!
Review: "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" 1994, running time 86 mins.
Starring Jim Carrey, Courteney Cox, Sean Young, Tone Loc, and Dan Marino. Directed by Tom Shadyac.

Ace (Carrey) takes the audience on an outrageous adventure as he tries to solve the biggest case of the year, the kidnapping of the beloved Dolphin mascot Snowflake. Hopefully before the Superbowl! Step by step this animal lover has to eliminate possible suspects. From running track to swimming with sharks.

Ace's progress in this investigation is continually aggravated by the local police dept. also working "The Snowflake Case". With the help of a befriended police officer Emilio (Loc) and the Dolphin's sexy PR Melissa (Cox) Ace gets a couple of leads, but none that produce the culprit. Ace painstakingly goes through the process of checking every 1982 Dolphin AFC Championship ring to find the one with the missing stone. According to Ace ...when he finds the ring with the missing stone he'll find Snowflake. Finally Ace gets a suspect. This lead sends him to a mental hospital and almost as a patient!! Just because Ace thinks he knows who is responsible doesn't make finding them an easy job. Only with the help of his beloved dog does Ace put the pieces together. Once the diabolical mystery is solved a wave of nausea is sent through the entire police department.

Don't miss this off beat comedy! Jim Carrey produces a fun loving "I told ya so" character with tons of energy. A total 5 star film that will have you laughing from beginning to end!

Summary: Layhoo-zayher NOT!
Review: This is by far one of the most hysterical films that J. Carrey has done. Carrey's character "Ace" who's job is to find lost pets, gets the job to find the Miami Dolphins mascot Sno-Flake. It's tough, but this Pet Detective is ready for anything. From Shih-Tsu's to tu-tu's, it is non-stop laughs from start to finish. I quickly add this to my DVD collection!

Check out the sequel - Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls

You'll want to hold off on the drinks if you watch them back to back!

Summary: Great flick, okay DVD
Review: This movie has become a cult classic, a smash hit on it's release, and the character "Ace Ventura" now a pop icon. It will be interesting to see if he is still recognized in 2015.
Jim Carrey stars as Ace Ventura, with Courtney Cox as the leading lady, Sean Young as the villiam, and Dan Marino in his biggest acting role to date.
If nothing else, this movie is a joy to Marino fans.
Aside from that, this is Jim Carrey's breakthrough role, and quite a hilarious film. The only dissapointment is the lack of DVD features. There is feature commentary by director Tom Shadyac, but there were sooo many scenes shot for this movie that didn't make the final cut, it would have been really nice to see them included as special features in this movie. Alas, it doesn't look like another edition will be coming out anytime soon, and this movie is well worth your money anyways.

Summary: Another one of Jim Carrey's slapstick comedies!
Review: This is a typical Jim Carrey comedy. Full of slapstick and humor that requires virtually no intelligence to laugh it. Still, it was one of my favorite comedies from when I was younger and I have to admit that I do love Jim Carrey and all his movies. Ace Ventura is an easily recognizable character to the comedy genre, and has brought several signature lines into our minds. If you like easy comedy or Jim Carrey, you'll definately like this movie. I haven't seen it in a while, but as I remember, he is a pet detective looking for a missing whale and ends up in multiple humorous situations. Easy to watch more than once, anyone can find at least part of this movie laugh-out-loud funny.

Summary: "Do NOT go in there."
Review: Jim Carrey had his first breakthrough with ACE VENTURA, acomedy which exists primarily to showcase his abilties to contract his (apparantly rubber) facial and body muscles like few of us can.

The plot, if you call it that, centers on the abduction of the miami dolphins mascot, a bottle nosed dolphin named Snowflake. Who you gonna call? Not the GHOSTBUSTERS if that's what your'e thinking, but instead, call Ace Ventura:Pet Detective (Jim Carrey) who "specializes" in the location and retrieval of missing animals. It isn't long, however, before Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino (Yes, Dan Marino) vanishes as well.

AS IF THE AUDIENCE COULD REALLY GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE PLOT. The movie is extremely eager to depict Ventura as coo-koo loo-loo, fast-talking sex-machine with a bizarre hairdo and a habit of doing socially clownish things like bending over and pretending to talk from his butt.

Not that the movie is without a heart. It also shows Ventura as a nature lover, like in the scene where a swarm of animals emerge out of there designated hiding places in his apartment. And Ventura also has a head on his shoulders, as when he shows up the entire Miami Police Squad by proving a suicide was actually a murder.

And trust me, you have not LIVED until you've seen Jim Carrey in a fist-fight. ACE VENTURA made him a star, and that fan base remains unshaken.

Summary: Wacky slapstick humour
Review: If you love Jim Carrey's weird wild wacky slapstick humour, and you haven't seen his first big HIT movie... then where in the world have you been?! Watch this movie - it is by far the best one so far. The only thing I wish they'd do, is release a WIDESCREEN version of this DVD, because the black bars on the left and right side of my screen drive me NUTS... :-P ...

Summary: This is a laugh out loud movie!
Review: This movie was a special surprise. A lot of comedies only evoke a few smiles. This one evokes laughs out loud. And the sequel was funny also.

Ace has to find the dolfin mascot of the football miami dolfins in time for the super bowl. If nothing else, this is Dan Marinos chance for a super bowl ring, as he is in the movie.

Who can ever forget the best line of the movie... DO NOT GO IN THERE!! or when Ace is opening his door and the land lord comes walking up and says "Ventura?" and Ace responds "Yes Satan?" Ahhh Jim Carrey at his wackiest.

Summary: Carrey's break-through film
Review: Jim Carrey proved himself to be a funny man with this film. He uses great physical comedy, and, while dumb, gets lots of laughs. Let the critics say what they want, this is some very funny stuff. Sure, it's short (could you imaging 2 hours of Carrey?), but the film ends just before it was losing originality. The twist (you'll see what I mean) is dull, stupid, pointless, recycled, and disgusting. The last 5 minutes are practically a train wreck. While I still think Carrey's best role came with "Dumb and Dumber," this was very enoyable. The beginning was very funny, and the fish tank scene was funny. I didn't care much for Dan Marino, though. Followed by an inferior sequel.
