Summary: BASEketbomb
Review: It's hard to believe these two imbeciles are the same guys who write Southpark. Everybody kept telling me this movie was hysterical, so naturally I rented it thinking it would be worth the money.
To say the *least*, I was so disgusted with how saturatingly idiotic and boring this movie is, that I actually demanded a refund from Blockbuster (and told them the true reason as to why). They of course didn't give me the refund, but oh well.
I can't recall even a single moment during this movie where I laughed.
The only part that amused me (very slightly, mind you) was when the guy got catapulted through the rafters of that building. Other than that, I'd say this movie is a total disaster, and I'm very surprised it was even allowed to be made with a script this .....

Summary: very funny
Review: I first saw this movie when I rented it. How can I describe this...hmmm...how bought, AWESOME!!! I laughed my butt off, it's jokes, humor and just everything about it makes it stand as one of my favorite movies. I recomend this movie to anyone who is wanting a good laugh.

Summary: Do I have to give this ANY stars?
Review: It's a sorry shame that some people actually liked this disgusting mess of ... attempts at humor. Broadcaster Bob Costas, who appears in his sportscaster persona in the film, has mentioned his appearance as possibly the worst decision of his life.

Anyway, what we have here as an excuse for a plot is that some drunkards created a combination of two sports and it became popular, at which point some movie-cliche "bad guy businessmen" or whatever want to steal their idea. Along the way the project manages to offend practically everyone, which is not necessarily a bad thing by itself, but they go wa-a-ay too far particularly with the little boy dying in the hospital. (Let's just say it involves getting the kid drunk, joking about how God "has it in for that little boy," etc.)

For humor of this level, all you need do is hang around some 5th-grade delinquents who actually think barfing on screen is funny. Those of us old enough to view an R-rated movie hopefully have grown beyond thinking this is funny. Another reviewer here mentioned "Airplane!" as belonging to the same genre, which is like comparing a toddler pool to the beach at Destin, Fla. No thanks.

Summary: Laughter the whole way through it!
Review: Most assuredly one of the more underappriciated comedy movies of recent times, BASEketball is hysterically funny despite it's occasional forays into more low brow humor. Not as vulgar as South Park or Orgasmo, it still holds with it the comedy genius of Trey and Matt, and the list of guest stars seems to be neverending. Even Mr. October himself, Reggie Jackson, has a cameo appearance. A good movie for a good laugh, and one of my personal favorites.

Summary: Funny Movie
Review: I don't think this movie gets enough credit. Any critic who dismissed it for its stupidity is clearly missing the point. Where as some stupid movies are not funny, (*cough, Dude Where's My Car) BASEketball is one good comedy.
As soon as you see it you'll likely be reminded of films like Airplane and the Naked Gun. Well, that's natural as some of the same guys worked on this film, and if you liked either of those two movies, (c'mon, who couldn't like Airplane?) then you'll love this movie too.
It's got a good cast, with Trey Parker and Matt Stone, (the creators of South Park) and a ton of celebrity cameos. Recommended viewing for fans of funny movies.

Summary: BASEketball
Review: BASEketball is really funny and totally wrong! This movie has a lot of crude sexual humor and some gay jokes as well, but it still packs a lot of laughs. Plis a fun soundtrack with bands like Reel Big Fish, Cherry Poppin Daddies. Smash Mouth and Soul Asylum, this is a game of H-O-R-S-E to the extremes!

BASEketball follows to friends Coop (Trey Parker) and Reemer (Matt Stone) and after they invent a backyard sport that combines basketball with baseball rules, they become huge sports stars. But now one of the owners wants to change the rules to the game of BASEketball and to avoid that from happening, Coop and Reemer and their team, the Milwaukee Beers, have to win the championship. So it's all guts and glory in this wild sports comedy.

I have to admit, a lot of jokes in this movie are just wrong or their cheap shots. The gay jokes are also a bit on the wrong side (the Beers road game against the San Francisco team). Some of the gay jokes might offend some people so just be careful about who you watch this one with. The other thing that's really funny about this one is that Trey Parker does some of his SOUTH PARK voices in it. The cast is also pretty cool and it has a lot of names as well like Ernest Borgnine, Jenny McCarthy, Yasmin Bleeth. And also a lot of cameos as well by Kato Kaelin, ESPN's Kenny Mayne and Dan Patrick, Reggie White, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, the guy that dies Unsolved Mysteries (sorry I can't think of his name) and NASCAR racing legend Dale Earnhardt.

Like I said, if you can get past the gay jokes, then you'll enjoy this movie. If you think that you might be offended by that kind of stuff, you should dodge this one. And there's also some parody in this movie as well (there's a pretty funny TITANTIC parody). If you're looking for more stuff from Parker and Stone, check out the obvious SOUTH PARK series.

Summary: Occasionally funny......mostly boring
Review: South Park is fantastic. Orgazmo is a truly entertaining movie. Trey and Matt are obviously pretty smart and funny. But Baseketball is not really very good at all. In fact, it made me cringe often to see so many celebrity cameos that just fall completely flat. I'm sure they tried very hard to make this work, but it just doesn't. Watch Orgazmo instead.

Summary: A VERY VERY FUNNY MOVIE
Review: This is one of the funniest films I've ever seen. I love it totally. The character of Skweak Scolari is just the single most funniest little wimp ever put on screen. Every word he says and insult he receives is a thigh-slapper. For a comedy this has a decent and inventive plot and Trey Parker and Matt Stone's comic timing is perfect. There are dozens of funny moments to this fantastic movie. I especially like the multitude of colors and the way the clash in the sports arena scenes. Robert Stacks Unsolved Mysteries spoof is also very amusing.

It's a real shame this wasn't a bigger theatrical hit because it's a perfect example of Trey and Matt's humor outside of South Park.

The DVD is in Dolby 5.1 and is anamorphically enhanced at 1.85:1.

Summary: Dude!
Review: One of the funniest movies ever made. I love Trey Parker and Matt Stone, I love them like a donkey skiing on fire. This movie, although silly, is actually quite witty... plus you get to see Trey and Matt naked... I mean! Um.... The DVD, sadly, has very few extras, but the movie more then makes up for that. God Matt has a nice ...- I mean, movie! Good Movie! Heh...

Summary: Really sick and twisted ....... I have to watch it again!
Review: Two jobless losers (Parker & Stone) create a new sport that takes the nation by storm. A combination of basketball with baseball rules, complete with psych-outs and distractions. Some of the jokes are timeless oldies such as the "chrome off of a trailor hitch" and "lay some carpet" liners. But they work.
I sometimes wonder how these guys sleep at night. They have absolutely no restrictions on who they will make fun of, or on how they do it. Now granted, it's not as raunchy as some of their work with the South Park series, and especially not the South Park movie. But it's still quite hilarious and entertaining. If you have a sick and twisted sense of humor like I do, then this movie is a must see.
