Summary: Harball : A Pretty Good Movie
Review: Hardball is a great movie for kids who love baseball and who are over 13. There are a few curses, so you shouldn't bring younger kids to see this movie, or you'll encourage them to say these words. But, this is a very funny movie.

Hardball stars Keanu Reeves as a man named Conor. When he owes a few men who threaten to kill him money, he asks his friend, the president of a big company, for help, he tells Conor that he will give him $500 a week to coach a african american children baseball team and he agrees. He starts befriending the team and their teacher (Diane Lane from My Dog Skip), but he is still battling the men he owes money to and his best friend Ticky (John Hawkes from Blue Streak). This is a great movie for children over 13 years of age.

Summary: Hardball Excitement
Review: Keanu Reeves stars in this story that might best be described as Bad News Bears in the projects. Conor O'Neill (Reeves) is a charming ne'er-do-well with a disturbing gambling addiction. His penchant for betting on the wrong teams leaves him owing several thousand dollars to very violent people, and he ends up coaching a children's baseball team to pay off his debt. The movie skimps a bit on process: the kids start out as terrible players and become better but we don't see how; Conor starts caring but we don't see why. As by-the-numbers movies go, though, it isn't a bad one. The young actors in the cast are talented and understated. Most of the kids' characters are only barely fleshed out by the script, but this keeps the movie from being hijacked by extra-cute mugging. Parents should be cautioned--this movie has some very violent scenes that will frighten young children, and swearing is depicted as precocious and adorable. Still, like a baseball game, it isn't a bad way to spend your time.

Summary: Home Run!
Review: Hardball is one great movie. Keanu Reeves yet again does an amazing job as an actor. The kids in the movie also do an awesome job. My favorite is little G-Baby. The movie is about a baseball team in the projects where many bad things happen to people. The kids are not allowed out at night because gangs like to steal their stuff. Keanu plays a man who owes a lot of money to different people and is too poor to pay them off. He goes to a friend who says he'll pay him $500 for 10 weeks to coach this baseball team. Keanu accepts because he desperatly needs the money otherwise he'll get himself into more trouble. When he gets there he is left by himself with these kids. When the one kid goes home he sees gangs and gets really nervous. He walks really quick so he doesn't get hurt. Then two kids knock him down and take his stuff.

This movie is very moving at the end. I don't want to spoil it for you so I'm not going to tell you what happens. If you go and rent this movie or just buy the DVD I gurantee you'll be pleased with your decison. ENJOY

Summary: Great film
Review: This is a great film, and a nice departure for Keanu from his usual role as action superheroe. While I enjoyed him in "The Matrix," we find him at his best in "Hardball." As a gambler/drunk who gets turned aroud by coaching a kid's baseball team, Reeves is surprisingly believable, and manages to show the change in his character in a non-formulamatic way. It's nice to finally see a realistic view of inner-city kids. The language is rough throughout the movie, especially on the baseball field, but that's what makes it realistic. Also, great job by the child actors on Keanu's team. They pull of the really touching moments, and you find yourself not really minding their rough language, as they are a very likeable group of boys. For adults, I highly reccomend it. However WARNING: THIS IS NOT THE BAD NEWS BEARS. It's a drama about inner-city kids, not a nice little comedy. Please don't take your very young kid to see it expecting a nice little movie. It's not a kid's movie. Older kids and adults should enjoy baseball at it's best in "Hardball."

Summary: This movie was awful!!!
Review: Keanu gives his worst performance yet! A film that should have never gotten past pre-production. A horrible script along with an actor that should have never even considered this film. Diane Lane is the only descent actor in this movie. Go rent "The Matrix Trilogy"!!

Review: Keanu Reeves Puts In His Best Performance To Date In This Comedy / Drama About A Out Of Luck Gambler Who Gets In Trouble With Some Bookies And Needs To Make Money Fast. To Make This Money He Has To Coach A Inner City Little League Baseball Team. In The Beginning It Goes A Little Slow But Within The First Twenty Minutes It Speeds Up The Pace And You Have A Movie That Is Actually Really Just Plain Awesome. I Cried When G Baby Died. This Movie Is The Inspirational Drama Everyone Should See.

Summary: a feel good movie with the Neomyster
Review: Neo(Reeves) is a man who gets himself in trouble then winds up teaching a baseball team full of young kids and he gets them to play and he becomes a part of their lives and he falls for Diane Lane. Reeves is always good no matter what the critics or the fans say, hes a good actor, though hes not flying around or gunning down agents in this movie hes having a ball. the shocking and emotional part would have to be when the little kid dies. a good hearted movie

Summary: Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Review: Once more, a Keanu Reeves film lives up to its expectations. Meaning, I wasn't expecting much from this film. It flopped at the box office, and was released after Keanu Reeves hit the second highlight of his career: The Matrix. Instead, I found myself really liking this film. OK, so some of the kids were really hard to understand, but I was smiling most of the time.

Keanu Reeves plays a character very similar to the characters he played in Feeling Minnesota & The Last Time I Committed Suicide. Characters that I was never very keen on. They smoke, they drink, they get beaten up. Keanu Reeves is all of this in the film. He has no friends, except ones who are after him for money, he doesn't have a girlfriend, and he is very much portrayed as an alcholic chain-smoker. So why did I buy this film? Cos it was on sale. I seem to like buying rubbish films that are on sale.

But I liked this. I really did. The kids are cute and fun, and even though it was mainly a film about sport, it doesn't focus too much on the subject, and its about a sport I can actually understand!

The kids are great, despite the swearing and the fact that some of them don't look old enough to know what they're saying actually means. They seem to really connect with Keanu's character, and you can also see this in the behind the scenes in the extras.

There are a few underlying stories in this, which could have been brought more to the forefront, instead of letting dwell in the background. These include the love story between Keanu Reeves & Diane Lane, the kids families, the school ...

Three quarters of the way through this, I had tears streaming down my face. Surprisingly enough, Keanu does NOT die, despite what people think. But it is sad, and I won't spoil it for anyone, but I was crying. It's so sad and so sweet. And Keanu manages to shed tears!!! Not something he's really attempted before, or attempted successfully.

We also get a topless Keanu wandering around with just a towel round his waist (yum), showing off his very noticeable scar from the motorbike accident. And a tattoo?! I think this was on for the movie, as I've never known him to have a tattoo before, but why would the make up artists go to the bother of putting a tattoo on him just for one scene. I'll be curious to see if he did get a tattoo. It looks like a very cool design.

If you're a sport fan, you probably won't enjoy this. But bring a box of tissues if you do go and see it.
