Summary: If you buy this movie, you're as ignorant as the actors.
Review: As a Black woman, this movie embarrassed the hell out of me. What was Halle Berry thinking? Is there that much money in the world to make someone act like a damn fool and portray every worse stereotype (stupid, loud, ignorant, vulgar, ghetto-fabulous) about Black women imaginable? This movie was not funny. The story was stupid. Two ignorant ghettofied women head out West to be in music videos. They get tricked into assuming false identities. It blows up in their faces (of course). Throughout the movie, they prance around like no one ever gave them hometraining. How about some dignity?

Review: CONTRARY TO OTHER REVIEWS, I TOTALLY ENJOYED THIS MOVIE. I FOUND IT VERY FUNNY AND ETHNIC. IT WAS A CONCEPT MOVIE OF HUMOR THAT WAS FOR LAUGHING, NOT FOR EDITING FOR GOOD OR BAD QUALITY. WE NEED MORE MOVIES THAT WILL MAKE US LAUGH AND NOT SUBJECT FOR CRITIQUEING FOR FAULTS. EVERYONE SHOULD LIGHTEN UP AND JUST LAUGH AT WHAT HAPPENS IN THE MOVIE TO THESE TWO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE.

Summary: Cool, Funny
Review: Great pajama-party movie. We laughed and laughed. Movie has some great one-liners. Once you see it, you'll be talking about it for days!! The characters are way out there -- especially with their clothes and teeth and hair -- but they manage to become extraordinarily likeable. Has great lessons on truth and how great stuff happens when you have the courage to follow your dreams, no matter how far out they are.

Summary: That star is for these reviews, not the movie
Review: I can't recommend this movie. But that's not the only reason I'm writing.

Why is it that when people think a movie is garbage, its defenders think those people need to "lighten up"? When "Bring It On" was released, a friend of mine was literally incensed that I thought it was junk. He said not every movie had to be "The Godfather" (just as someone here said they can't all be "Casablanca"). But does that mean every movie that isn't "The Godfather" has to be garbage? I like average, feel-good movies a lot, but it happened that I didn't think "Bring It On" was one of them. Maybe those of us who don't like "B.A.P.S." are using reasonable standards and simply want to see a good movie and didn't think this was it.

Summary: BAPS
Review: I definetly enjoyed the movie as well as my children. I watch movies for entertainment not to pattern my life after. I would be ignorant judge my standards and any one eles by a movie. So I found it very entertaining. I thought Halle and Natalie both did nothing more than display their craft and that is simply, "ACTING". I feel in love with Alfred a.k.a., Manley. All of the actors were very good. Thumbs up to Robert Townsend. People should relax and realize that variety is the spice of life and BAPS was just one movie, not their lesson in History. Strictly for entertainment purposes only!

Summary: Fun and Laughter filled - Don't miss this one!
Review: I don't care what anyone else thinks, I loved it! There's no academy award nominations coming from this movie, but the laughs are incredible. Great one liners you'll use again and again!

Summary: About time a campy BLACK comedy came along!
Review: I for one am sick of reviewers like Mr. Maltin automatically panning everything that isn't of the same level as say "The English Patient" or "Casablanca". Some movies are just straight up comedy, aiight already?! While this movie does portray stereotypes such as the trashy ghetto fabulous urban black wannabe diva and the ultra snobby and stuffy white Beverly Hills millionaire, these stereotypes are (it seems to me) intentional and just add to the laughter! Yes, the plot is contrived, yes it probably couldn't happen in real life, but who gives a s@#$? It's funny as hell, filled with celebrity cameos, and let's face it - where else could one see Miss Halle Berry sporting gold teeth, finger waved platinum blond hair, and vinyl hot pants?! The hairstyles and clothes alone are enough to laugh oneself into intensive care! This movie is the type I have been waiting to see for quite awhile, a campy black comedy for the 90's!

Summary: Terribly funny and uplifting when you are down in the dumps.
Review: I liked this movie; it made me laugh at a time when I was down in the dumps. I know Ms. Berry and Mr. Landau have been in better movies; but this one showcases their ability to be funny. Besides, if you cannot have any fun now and then; why make movies in the first place. The plot is great because it shows just what can happen when two blacks girls follow their dreams. Even though it doesn't seem like it will work out for them in the end, it really does after all. Troy Beyer is the writer, Robert Townsend directed, black actors starred in it. Give this movie a break; it is a comedy; it is not supposed to be a drama like "Titanic". The scenes in the restaurant were funny and realistic; two black girls meeting celebrites they have only read about and heard about. If that is not funny I don't know what is. When will we (African-Americans) start giving each other credit for our accomplishments in the film industry??? It is high time we started recognizing each other's talent. When we do, others will recognize our talent as well.
