Summary: One of the all-time funniest movies.
Review: I dare you to find a funnier movie

Summary: The funniest film of all time bar none
Review: I still laugh out loud, even after 30 viewings. The scene with the cucumber & the metal detector: need I say more?

Summary: Biting, Funny Satire
Review: "Spinal Tap" is so funny because it does such an effective job of showing up popular culture (rock culture specifically) for its abundant superficiality. At the same time, the "documentary" format heightens all the humor because EVERYBODY -- the director (Rob Reiner) included -- hangs on their verbal drivel so, so seriously. The end result is that this is one of those amazing films where none of the characters is ever mugging it up for laughs or guffawing, yet the viewers will be in tears and holding their sides. And if this isn't enough, Reiner actually gets you to LIKE these rock and roll space cadets, devoid of substance as they are. A wonderfully different and creative comedy... highly recommended!

Summary: This Review Should go to Eleven...
Review: Probably the funniest film ever made, THIS IS SPINAL TAP was Rob Reiner's debut film, and it still remains his best today. It's basically a satire on modern day rock groups (at least at the time it was) and its documentary-style filming only heightens the experience. This is one of those rare movies where no matter how many times you watch it, never gets old. A must have for DVD owners.

Summary: a great piece of work from some real comedic talent
Review: listen, this may very well be one of the best satires ever produced in the united states. Even such "intellectual" playwright highbrows as Brian Gilmore and Leroy Sikorski have to admit that this movie is better at satirizing social and popular culture than many of their plays

Summary: Semi-improvised comedy at its best!
Review: A truly unique comedy. At the time based upon an imaginary rock 'n' roll band, but containing striking similarities with any aging rock band of your choice.

A mock rock 'n' roll documentary that contain improvisational and some small scripted areas that brings laughter at every turn (unless you can find the stage).

Truly a one-of-a-kind movie and band. Do yourself a favor and pick this movie up as the VHS format has been out of print for years. The DVD has so much bonus material, it's well worth the wait and the price.

Summary: Sensational stuff! The Tap delivers...
Review: "This is Spinal Tap" is thee funniest rock film (parody or not) ever produced. Micheal McKean, Harry Shearer, Christopher Guest and Rob "Meathead" Reiner couldn't be better! Bizzare and fabulous storyline of an aging British metal band on tour in America. Soundtrack is great-"Sex Farm," "Give Me Some Money" are truly unappreciated rock classics!! Highly, highly recommended. Check this one out!

Summary: If you are a "Tap" fan and own a DVD player........BUY THIS!
Review: I have been a fan of "This is Spinal Tap" since it's release back in the early 80's.So I assume that it must have been an act of god that my VHS version of this movie had not only been eaten by a very hungry VCR, but also dicontinued. Because if these examples of divine intervention never happened, I would have never searched for Spinal Tap on DVD and would have never found The Criterion Colection of This is Spinal Tap. This version is for the person who just can't get enough of "Tap". There is over 4 hours of material on this DVD. Besides the actual movie, you can watch it with the commentary of Rob Reiner, or with the guys from Spinal Tap explaining every scene and wacky idea that came about in making this film. You also get over 2 hours of cut scenes and subplots(which you learn were cut not because of bad ideas, but because of time restraints). Scenes that will have you laughing just as much as the movie itself. That's not all, you get a 20 minute "demo" reel that was used to try to sell the idea to all of the different movie studios. It is really interesting to see some of the great "classic" gags in their early stages. Different movie and theatrical trailers are included(the cheese trailer one of my favorites)and just when you think that there can't be any more room on a DVD, you get behind the scenes material, music videos and a goofy commercial for a mock Spinal Tap greatest hits album(done in the classic K-tel style that some of us grew up with). Bottom line, any tap fan who has a DVD player should already own this. It is well worth the price. You get so much for the money when it comes to The Criterion Collection of Spinal Tap.

Summary: This one goes to eleven (stars).
Review: This is a brilliant spoof of the excesses of the heavy metal rock music world. The music is great, the humor is unparalled. If you liked the original movie, then you'll truly enjoy all the added outtakes and commentary. My copy can never be played. Don't touch it. Don't point at it. Don't even look at it
