Summary: Band's Formula Getting Old.
Review: Aside from the occasional deviant, I have come to realize that Charles Band's formula for his films is virtually identical in all his efforts.

Hideous is practically the exact same movie as Puppet Master 1, 2, Dangerous Toys, and many more. Basically the story of two collectors of medical 'specimens' who have the honour of having to battle three of them that come to life.

There is quite a memorable scene in the film (even mentioned in the making of the film's documentary which as always is included on Full Moon releases), Jacqueline Lovell's topless, gorilla masked scene. But basically, Lovell steals every scene she is in. She has my prize for best wardrobe that's for sure.

Overall a well put together DVD, with the Videozone and minimal extras. The film is quite good if you don't mind seeing Charlie Band's typical formula again. I personally don't mind it, but there are so many better, more original Full Moon features out there to watch instead.

Summary: DEFORMED. DEVIOUS. DEPRAVED.!!!
Review: Dr. Lorca (Michael Citriniti), an eccentric collector of biological oddities-has just "acquired" his greatest specimen; a horrible mutant born of noxious waste...but the creature's rightful owner wants it back.
The collectors' clash is cut short though, as the sickening specimen come to life, re-animating an angry, oozing little army of ferocious freaks.

Summary: A wonderful, insanely odd movie
Review: Great memories here. I saw this movie on Sci-Fi channel one night at 4am when me and my brother were just sitting up all night grooving (like always). Let me tell you, if a movie is so spectacular that they have to show it at 4 in the morning, then you KNOW it's worth it! In fact, watching movies in the middle of the night is the best way to find worthwhile films. When the commercail was on before Hideous, I asked my brother "Why do they call it hideous?" ...and then we found out!

Now that I've found this movie on DVD here at Amazon, I'm definetly going to buy it. It may not have a worthwhile plot, any innovative traits, or a supreme soundtrack (from what I remember), but life would be boring if every movie was the best. What 'Hideous' does have is freaky monsters and a weirdo plot. I've always been a fan of movies that are so off the senses and anti-good that they are great movies, but it's hard to know which ones to buy. Afterall, you don't want to get a movie if you're only ever going to enjoy it once. Hideous though, is one that I think will be worthwhile. Unfortunately, and I ask your forgiveness for this, I can't say much about the movie since I only saw it once, a year or so ago, and it was in the middle of the night. I can, however, promise that it's a fine movie to watch sporadically (don't worry about missing some parts if you're doing other things) when you're dazed & confused and you're with some friends or it's the middle of the night.

Summary: Leather shorts, hiking boots, and a gorilla mask
Review: The plot is simple (much like the acting of the two "collectors"): biological freaks vs collectors-- freaks 4, collectors 0.

Repeat after me. "THIS IS A REALLY BAD MOVIE". How bad was it? So bad that I lost no time buying HEAD OF THE FAMILY, which is even worse. Jacqueline Lovell picks up this movie and walks off with it. Watch it with friends. We laughed, we groaned, we pointed out mistakes, and we all fell in love with Lovell's Sheila character. Anyone can be a highwayperson but how many do it in the dead of winter amidst a snow covered landscape dressed ONLY in hiking boots, leather shorts and a gorilla mask? Definately a first for me.

The effects were laughable, which made the movie even more fun. Lovell and company (most of which did a surprisingly good job in the acting dept.) kept us interested and amused. I loved this movie!
