Summary: Almost just as good as the original.
Review: Most people like to complain that Barbra got strong in it, but i think it added alot to the movie. Also more zombie shots were really cool. The only thing that could've made it better would be if at the end Barbra still got ate by a zombie...in particular Johnny. The irony in Ben's death is also miss, which disapoints me. But i do like how Barbra kills Mr. Cooper in the end.

Summary: The Dead Rise Again!
Review: Story: People take cover in an old farmhouse to escape the deadly flesh eaters!! They are trying to figur out a way to escape!! They do know that one blow to the head can kill them!!! This was a great remake to the classic!!! It was also directed by Tom Savini!!! I think any horror fan should check this out!!!

Summary: Good, but not vintage Romero!
Review: I really can't knock this movie, but being that it is a bigger budget remake of a low budget classic, it's hard to help!

One of the things I love about the original "Night of the Living Dead" is Romero's ability to do so much with so little. Part of what made the original so frightening was the low budget black-&-white effects that made the zombies look more menacing, the blood look grotesque, the munchings look more grisly.

This remake also lacks the claustrophobic effect that George Romero pulled off the first time around. With so much of the original being shot from the inside looking out, coupled with the "low budget echo-pitch" dialogue, gives off a creepy presence, as if the zombie attack was actually happening, and some 8MM Film student happened to have his camera on hand...

This remake is a good zombie flick, but not a classic. Every time I bring it up, hard as I try, I can't help but compare it to the original. This version is too polished, too thought out. This version starts with the same meek woman character who is the first to run from the carniverous cadavers, but in this version, the character takes a new twist that leaves you going "HUH?" How did she turn from bashful to brazen?

The flick is genuinely scary at times, but lacks the ambience that makes the one...and, in my opinion, ONLY "Night of the Living Dead" famous.

Summary: Review of Tom Savini's remake
Review: Interesting but unnecessary remake of Romero's original. Neither as scary or gory as the first film which was released about 22 years prior. If you enjoyed the first film and are a zombie movie fan, there is no reason for you not to like this one but if you have not seen the original, watch it first, because this one really doesn't do it justice.

This is an entertaining film and worth watching but aside from the fact that the original creators needed to make some money, there really isn't any reason for this one. It's alright but it does not add much to the story. Tony Todd ("Candyman") is great in the lead.

Summary: Very Scary
Review: This movie scared me a lot more than the original black and white version. It had a lot more action, suspense, and horror. Barbara is different and fights back against the zombies. She gets pretty wild acting. The movie did not get boring either. I like this one much better, but the original will always be a true classic.

Summary: An Exception To The Remake Rule
Review: I usually see remakes of movies to be an unforgivable sin. It seems to be the "thing" in Hollywood nowdays and THAT's scary! I've heard rumors of Dawn Of The Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre remakes. This is pure blasphemy and I'll never forgive anyone who is involved with these films-right down to the guy who gets the coffee. The NOTLD remake is one of the few exceptions to that rule. Why? Well, I'll tell ya. Romero decided to do this coz he'd been screwed out of his due money from the original film because of a copyright mishap, and he was hoping to get some of that money back from the remake's profits. I'm behind him all the way on that. Plus, the remake wasn't done by some schmuck who'd never seen the original and didn't care what he did to it-the original crew were all involved in this as well. Hey, can you really yell at someone for remaking their own film? Hey, if anyone's got a right to make a cruddy remake of a film, it might as well be the people who made it in the first place. [Hey], Hitchcock did it. But you can tell that this film was made for the fans of the original, and that everyone involved had a good time doing it. Is it good? It's not a masterpiece or anything, but it's entertaining. It has a kind of direct-to-video look and feel about it(though I did see it in the theater so I know it's not). The acting is very good, the new plot changes are decent. It's certainly not bad, it just doesn't give you that same feeling as watching the original does. Not too high on the gore(though Tom Savini directed it), but it is a worthy addition to your zombie dvd collection.

Summary: The remake of a Classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Well the story line in this version was almost identical to the original, and it had better looking Zombies or should I say, they're scarier. Although this didn't quite live up to its predesesor, there's only one man who could have done any better Than Tom Savini, like maybe George Remero himself. Seven people joined together in an boarded up isolated farmhouse to escape the walking dead outside. I have to give Savini credit for his effort. I gave this film 4 stars for its make up, and good effort. I would have given it a 5 but it didn't have the erie atmosphere as the original. I own this on DVD and it stands 4th in my zombie films. Night,Dawn,Day,and this film. Good job Savini. This film gets two thumbs up.

Summary: The MOST overrated horror film of all times
Review: I know that most of you won't agree with me.
But I just don't understand how a bad horror film could have such high ratings. Mos people rates it 5 stars probably because of what the critics said: cult classic, essential horror film, etc.
Fans of Evil Dead, Return of the Living Dead, Braindead, BEWARE! This film is none of them. Any minute of the above films is better then any certain minute of this film.
Low budget - no problem, there are some low budget classics, like The Toxic Avenger.

Actors - it's okay for a low budget film, I just don't expect more.
Story - This is the first reason that I give 1 star. There's no plot, there's no storyline.
Zombies, make-up - The worst I've ever seen. Even in Fulci's City of the Living Dead, the zombies look better. After seeing the Return of the Living Dead series, this was a joke. 1 star for the make-up.
Special effects - There were no special effects, there's nothing to rate.
BOTTOM LINE: only for collectors, this is the most overrated zombie film ever made. Even the original "The Blob" with Steve McQueen is better than this garbage, although that's not a zombie film.
Get the REAL living dead series and evil dead I-II instead and avoid this trash, it is just a waste of time. You will thank me for this.

Summary: Just as good as the original
Review: I like both versions equally. The original had atmosphere, the remake had better looking zombies. All in all, I highly recommend this movie. Check it out!
