Summary: SIX DEGREES OF THE CREATURE
Review: With this (and THE INVISIBLE MAN, also just released) UNIVERSAL rounds out it's collection of their classic horror/thrillers. CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON is what we've come to expect from UNIVERSAL - sharp transfer, loaded extra's and a tight package all around. If you've bought the rest, don't hesitate to pick this one up... if this is your first, then it's one of the best to buy. CREATURE is a great movie, pure and simple. And what makes this feature even better is the audio commentary by TOM WEAVER (who also did the excellent commentary on THE WOLF MAN). Fast, funny and very much on the inside... Weaver really knows his history, he knows the people behind this movie, and he knows all the connections to this movie (and I mean serious connections... his commentary is like a six degrees of seperation game... everything from Orson Wells to I LOVE LUCY is connected in some way to CREATURE). All in all... it's a perfect disc.

Summary: One of the all time greats
Review: This movie is the story of a creature that time forgot and the greddy men who won't leave the creature a lone. Great underwater shots make the movie.

Summary: Dated, but Wonderful!
Review: The movie is dated by today standards, but it has all the charm and "scary" items we would look for in a horror movie of the 50's. A typical "B" movie, done with an obviously tight budget, is entertaining from beginning to end. I loved it! Wonderful!

Summary: a classic sci/fi movie
Review: I have always enjoyed this movie. The creature is nice and creepy and the acting is pretty good. I would recommend this movie to anyone who appreciates good, classic sci/fi.

Summary: prefection in B & W
Review: Creature from the Black Lagoon is prefection in entirety. This film contains social commentary on the nature between man and undiscovered beast. And our desires to conquer the unknown. This movie has suspense, action and an incredible plot. It surpasses movies such as Scream, I know what you did last summer and such, because it offers suspense and originality. The sequels are just as equally important to the horrow genra. This is a must for any horror fan.

Summary: white bathing suit
Review: This movie came out when I was young and first saw it at a free show. At the time it was a very revealing, provocitive movie, as some might say beauty and the beast attraction. If the movie was made or remade today the lady would have to be swimming nude to get the same effect. But all and all it still holds its appeal to movie buffs of the monster fans For a low budget film it is made well. The setting of the movie reminds me of a possible tarzan location. All in all in my opinion for a half century old movie it was very well made.

Summary: Really enjoyable but......
Review: I couldn't help wondering why there is always only one monster. In this movie it's established that there was another 150 million years ago and there is one now. What happened to all the others? And why are monsters always attracted to human women? Also check out the creature clawing the edge of the swimming pool at the start. Great Saturday afternoon viewing.

Summary: Creature holds it's own
Review: In a decade where bad sci-fi and monster films outweighed the good about three to one, from a company who had not made a good original shocker in over ten years came this true underwater gem. A group of scientists go on an expedition after finding a fossil, but what they run into is an intelligent gill man who does his best to counter their every move and suddenly the hunters become the hunted. The photography is great, fairly strong cast with very natural performances and a classic soundtrck make this a fine film. There are a few slow moments, but overall this is one of the finest monster flicks of the 50's and Universal deserves a lot of credit for taking there time and making a quality monster film instead of making a cookie cutter piece of garbage like the ones that dominated the decade. This one is worth having in your collection.

Summary: He's Just Misunderstood!
Review: This is my favorite of all the Universal monster movies. Why? It's actually still a bit scary after all these years! Dracula seems a bit silly (even though I still love it!) but the Creature is still creepy! It's a great costume (and for when it came out? It's AWESOME!). Great underwater scenes too! Perfect for Halloween too! GO CREATURE!!!

Summary: Mean humans!
Review: The most unique, expertly crafted character EVER imagined. The creature deserves ten stars! Gill man, my heart goes out to you. Live long and never let us filthy humans get the better of you.
