Rating: Summary: Great Soundtrack for a Spectacular IMAX Movie Review: Dolphins was easily the best IMAX movie that I have ever seen. The cinematography is spectacular, and the soundtrack is excellent and varied. It is mostly Sting selections from his album "Brand New Day" adapted to an island beat--along with a few great non-Sting songs like Sea Of Light (my favorite track). If you are a Sting fan, you will love this CD. It also works the other way around; I (already an island music lover) became a Sting fan after hearing this CD. For relaxing music that makes you feel like you are in the tropics, get a copy of this CD.
Rating: Summary: Sting's Rework of His New Release Works for Dolphins Review: The album has a few surprises for the ears, and anyone who has seen the IMAX movie knows the music flows beatifully with the images on the screen. But it also works as a stand alone CD album with a continuity you would expect from Sting and from a movie score. Most of the songs are a reworking of his latest album, "Brand New Day". One little item that I noticed from the film score and the actual "Brand New Day" version, is that he changed the lyrics of the song "Fill er Up" to a more secular lyric by leaving out the name Jesus, where its use in the original CD is very fitting vernacular for the characters in the song, but might not go over on a broader audience in the theater, not knowing the context of the original song. I would highly recommend this album to anyone who enjoys Sting, and more particularly to those who like to listen to a CD all the way through. If you are one who punches through the CD to find the one or two favorite cuts, you will find plenty on this album to appeal to your ears, but you will miss the beauty and genius of its construction. Oh yes, go see the movie too. Listening to this CD afterwards will then be filled with lingering images of beauty as well.
Rating: Summary: MUSIC OF ATLANTIS BY ATLANTIANS Review: Given his work on THE LIVING SEA and now with this soundtrack for another underwater IMAX classic, DOLPHINS, I am begining to believe that the fabled Sting is an Atlantian refugee. His music is so fine, so perfect and so appropriate here that it just must be a possibility. The album features Sting songs I NEED YOU LIKE THIS HOLE IN MY HEAD, FILL HER UP, GHOST, and my favorite the classic WHEN WE DANCE. Like THE LIVING SEA, Stings work is beautifully complemented by the score of Steve Wood (quite possibly a fellow Atlantian). THE HORSEMAN
Rating: Summary: A Masterpiece Review: Dolphins Is a wonderful film with a wonderful musical score provided by Sting and Steve Wood. We purchased the DVD, and the soundtrack CD - and it is regularly in our CD player. Our kids love it !!! The cinematography is awesome. This film will put you in a good mood on a cold, winter day with it's visuals and island flavored music. You'll also learn so much about these most incredible creatures. I would love to see a sequel to this great documentary. I think it was actually nominated for an Academy Award. Do yourself a favor, buy the DVD and the soundtrack CD !!!
Rating: Summary: Glorious movie!! Review: My whole family loved this movie at the Imax theater, including my sometimes hard to please autistic child. They both watched the entire thing, in awe most of the time! I bought it to watch at home and it was almost as good as watching it at the large imax theater. The island music, mostly done by Sting, combined with the beautiful images create an incredible movie. And before you even realize it, you've actually gotten an education in dolphins. It's painless learning for the youngsters....
Rating: Summary: Melodic, entertaining, and fun. Review: I am a huge fan of IMAX films in general and this is one of the best. The soundtrack (Sting) is awesome and Mr. Brosnan does a great job narrating. It is inspiring to see these intelligent creatures as they interact with humans and you quickly become unsure of who is the scientist and who is the subject. Their intelligence combined with the perpetual smile make the dolphins seem more like distant cousins than a different species. My 6 and 2 year old love this movie as well and the outreach value of science is made self evident. We may truly communicate with other creatures in the universe and won't it be amazing if we find them on our own planet?
Rating: Summary: Best IMAX Movie Review: This is a spectacular must-purchase movie. The soundtrack is incredible, mixing Sting songs with slack-key guitar music. The cinematography is stunning, with beautiful shots that lack any of the murkiness normally associated with underwater filming. The story is touching, from the dolphin who was friends with a diver to how the dolphins communicate with each other. Learn, Love, and Laugh with Dolphins in this movie.
Rating: Summary: Dolphins is a treasure! Review: Make sure you watch the making of Dolphins as well. If your children are looking for another fun video -- check out Captain Jon Explores the Ocean (also available from Amazon)!
Rating: Summary: Wow! Dolphins deserves 5 stars! Review: I love dolphins, so I saw this in the dyna max theater as soon as I could!! It is really great. The music goes very well with the movie. It features a woman that studies dolphin communication, that teams up with a man that studies dolphin feeding habits, and a man that has a special bond with a dolphin named Joe joe, and lots of dolphins, of course! I dont own it on video yet, but I really want it!! A great movie for any one who likes dolphins.
Rating: Summary: Fun to watch Review: Stunning pictures. Best documentary you could ever find on dolphins and how the interract with humans and their own. Definatly worth buying.
