Summary: Great player!!!
Review: Excellent player....awesome picture quality....easy to use. It comes with car battery adapter. The battery actually lasts 3 hours like advertised!. It also plays DVD-R media which many players do not. The speakers in the unit are loud and good quality. If you choose to use headphones, and there are two ports, the sound is awesome!!!
I will buy more of these to give as gifts this Christmas!!!

Summary: Good for the money
Review: Has worked very well, had it for about a month. Worth the money. Use it in ways that I didn't realize I could.

Summary: Fantastic!!
Review: I am so pleased with this little dvd player.. the picture quality is clear and the sound is great. I took it on a recent trip and it charged up perfectly and played just as I expected. No surprises! I can't help but compare this one to another portable dvd player I had to send back recently as would not work correctly - the audiovox was even less expensive! I would recommend this to anyone who would like a lightweight, dependable portable dvd.

Summary: Terrific DVD Player for the money!
Review: I bought this for a planned cross country road trip that did not happen. Now I use it often if not for movies, to listen to music. The picture is great, sharp and clear. The sound is great as well.It is lightweight and it comes with the things you need to either use it in a car or to hook it up to your tv at home. The battery holds the charge well. Things that are important to me in a portable. Do not let the price fool you. Yes it is lower than most other portables but the quality is outstanding. I would and will someday buy another.

Summary: Gift for husband
Review: I bought this for my husband's birthday (50 - so I splurged a bit). He absolutely loved it! Our two teenage children were fascinated. My husband's co-worker wanted to see it - and then ordered one for herself. My husband loves to watch dvds that I don't really want to see so the portability of the dvd player is very useful to us. It has a great picture - extremely clear. I highly recommend this player.

Summary: Arghhh! What kind of design is that???
Review: I've had the D1501 for about 4 months now and I was really pleased in the beginning, BUT...

Early on, I started having trouble with the unit suddenly saying the DVD compartment lid was open in the middle of playback. After looking at how the switch works, I found that a thin tab on the lid has to push down a small, round button to activate the switch. Since the lid is plastic, which can flex, the tab slips off the button. This happens even when the unit is just hooked up to a TV and is not being handled. WHAT KIND OF DESIGN IS THAT FOR A UNIT THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE PORTABLE???

More recently, the switch that operates the LCD (which uses a similar "tab on button" design) has been failing. I'm incredibly disappointed, because this DVD player is great otherwise.

I'm very careful with my electronic stuff, so I can't image how this might cause problems for those road-warrior types. I just don't understand why Audiovox didn't invest a little more thought and money into two switches which get activated each time you play a DVD.

Summary: pretty good for the price
Review: I've used mine when we were staying in a motel -- plugged in and it worked well. When I have used it with it's battery, it has had some problems with freezing up. but worth the price overall.

Summary: Look out! Not reliable!
Review: It was fun while it lasted. Bought it last Father's day, and by this Father's day, it was already broken--won't load, freezes, won't play DVD (apparently the lens needs replacing). A local TV repair shop says it will cost more than the player itself with labor involved. Audiovox will charge a flat rate of 93.75 plus the cost of shipping it to them to fix it. So basically a year later I'm having to buy the player all over again. Pretty steep considering it is only one year old, and that I took impeccable care of the player (cleaned often and kept in padded case).

Summary: Not the best....But DEF. worth the price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Lately, ive had this obession with portable dvd players. I dont even need one, but they are just so COOL. Everytime i go to Best Buy, Circuit City,etc.... im always in the Car Section messing with the portable dvd players. Now, ive seen the best..and ive seen the worst, so i can rate this dvd player with confidence. I was VERY skeptical about buying this DVD player, but what can i say...im cheap, and dont wanna spend an arm and a leg getting something that will probably improve in 6 months anyways. Although ...I am extremely satisfied with this little dvd player.

The quality of picture is about an 8/10 in my opinion.
The battery only lasts for 3 hours and u have to charge it for 5 hours. Although i normally just plug it in an outlet anyways.
You dont need batteries for the remote, which makes use much more convienent. The sound is excellent with or without headphones. 2 people can use their headphones at once, unlike many others that only have 1 slot for headphones.

The design is OK. i dont like how the speakers are right under the screen, but i guess that doesnt really matter.

Ive had this player for about 2 months now, and it hasnt skipped or froze even once. I actually enjoy watching movies on this little thing now more than on my computer on tv, just because i can move around.

All i can say is that the price is great and is good for beginners b/c it resists alot of wear and tear (very durable).

Summary: Pretty Good for the Money
Review: Not a bad DVD Player for the money! Can't find this model in many stores, but it is currently sold and popular. I had it over a month now. The first one had a small white dot that came on the center of the screen (Very annoying) whenever the power went on. Called Audiovox and told it was a Defective/burnt pixel and to return it. I called Amazon and the were great to send out another! Also the first had many parts missing (including the battery) and the DVD box was not sealed.

Otherwise, the battery lasts a good 2 hours, sometimes up to three as advertised. More if the volume is lower or headphones are used and screen is not bright. Also comes with regular AC electric cable and an adapter for the car (many do not have this one, read small print).

The screen is good. Mind as well say it's 6 inches. I'd not go smaller as the movies always play smaller than the screen is. But it's easy to read words. Remote is good.

One drawback is I'd like to see the volume on the remote. But then again with something this size it's usually not across the room like a regular TV.

Lightweight, especially without the battery. I've used it for drives in the car, laying on the couch (when someone else has the TV), even in the backyard. Volume is good without the headphones, but I'd advise to purchase a pair as it helps and also helps preserve the battery (if you use the battery).

If you're looking for an average priced portable DVD and don't want to break your pocketbook, yet have one that works and has everything you need to use (but headphones but they're cheap), be it in hotel, car or home then this one is for you.
