Summary: DVD PLAYER "Numba Wahn"
Review: I recently bought the CyberHome Portable Progressive Scan DVD Player - CHLDV712 for a 14 hour train trip to visit some relatives. There were two items that caused me to choose the CyberHome over the wide vartiety of other portable DVD players available here at Target. First was the 7" screen, and second, the 4.5 hour battery life. This player preformed above and beyond the specifications and made the train trip pass quickly and interestingly. I bought an additional battery from the factory {$89.95 but well worth it} which made it's battery range 9 hours. On the trip however I measured nearly 11 hours of play time. The remote control has exceptional range. While testing it I got it to make 120 foot bankshots off first a mirror and then just the bare wall. The remote also is not just a basic function only remote. It controls every function and the CyberHome DVD can have its setup changed while it is playing a disk. Only one minor complaint. The audio output is what I consider "weak" if you want to use external speakers you would be well advised to get a pair of amplified speakers.

Summary: Don't buy anything from this manufacturer!!!
Review: Their units are junk... I have returned three of them and number four doesn't work properly either! The customer support line is always busy and they do not return email requests for service. The unit plays only certain DVD's, and it doesn't matter if they are new or used.

Do yourself a favor - spend more money and buy something else.

Summary: Pretty Good Product for the Money
Review: Overall, this portable DVD player is pretty good for the money. It has all the features of a more expensive one, but is is kind of cheaply made so it can be sold for this price.

The picture quality is good, but not as good as my home DVD player. The sound quality is great through headphones or TV speakers, but the built-in speakers sound awful.

The 4-hour battery really lasts about 3 hours, but that is still pretty good compared to most.

The only problem I've had is that very rarely, it won't play a certain part of a DVD. On one episode on my Simpsons Second Season DVD, it skips so badly you would have thought someone scraped the disc against concrete. It, however, plays perfectly in my home DVD player and my PS2.

Other than that problem, it is a pretty good portable DVD player for the money, but I really would recomment spending a little more money for a Sony, Panasonic, or other well-known brand.

Summary: Had to return item within 15 days of purchase
Review: It bought this item from radio shack (not Amazon), but it is the same exact item...so I wanted to comment on it.

The picture looked clear, the sound pretty clear, I liked the way it looked and felt (weight) and the battery-life was pretty accurate. I might have gotten a faulty-item, but the screen kept going black above 20 minutes into the DVD. And if you put it in the straight position (to mount into your car carrer) it completely shuts itself off. I have two children and they were extremely upset to have the DVD Player stop working 20 minutes into a movie. Thank goodness I bought this item 1 month before our vacation (We are driving in my minivan to WDW, which is about 1100 miles away)!

I am going to return it, but request a different item.
