Description:

Whether you're planning a sing-along party, putting together a digital slideshow for the family, wanting to play homemade MP3 CDs, or simply feeling ready to park yourself in front of three favorite DVDs back to back, the triple-disc Apex AD-5131 is ready to deliver.

The unit's two karaoke microphone inputs have dedicated volume controls so you can tailor the balance to match the singers and the music sources. A suite of complementary technologies--from pitch and echo control to vocal assist (which works with multiplexed discs to let you hear a prerecorded lead vocal in headphones while an audience just hears you)--helps master the fine art of karaoke presentation.

In addition to playing MP3 CD-Rs and CD-RWs and Kodak Picture CDs, the player is also compatible with both NTSC- and PAL-formatted discs, letting you play non-region-encoded European movies alongside standard U.S. releases. And, since the player is firmware upgradeable, it's future-ready for new audio or image formats (such as AAC, Advanced Audio Codec) as they become available. Apex's active full screen function (AFF) helps resize widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) video images to fill 4:3 aspect-ratio sets.

Top-of-the-line component-video outputs help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television. Two sets of left/right analog-audio outputs channels sound to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions, letting you plug one set into your receiver and the other directly into your television for greater viewing flexibility. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's optical digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver and surround speaker system.
