Summary: Great picture, sound and easy to use!
Review: I've had it for about a month and a half...watched probably 40 movies so far with no problems...except a DVD I rented had a really bad scratch that it wouldn't get past. I had to go to the next scene and rewind...not the DVD's fault. I'm a little curious about HDCD and noticed you must use the analoge outputs in order for this feature to work. Since I'm using the coax connection, I don't know if this is a big bonus or not. The remote is very nice and simple...not overly clunky like many. I've been told if you're going to buy a DVD player, get a Toshiba. So far, I agree!

Summary: Great DVD
Review: This is my first DVD player and it has been really great. It was very easy to set up, great sound and video. The difference between the sound from my VCR and this is incredible. It has many features, including zoom and camera angles. The remote is easy to figure out even with all the extras. I like the fact that it can play VCDs as well as DVDs. I highly recommend this product.

Summary: Great DVD player & super video
Review: Just bought the Toshiba SD2700 for X-MAS (Santa Claus got itchy for a DVD player :-) and haven't been more pleased. I have an older 32" TV, but it has S-video, and the video through it is superb. I am willing to bet the component video is just as good. The unit is easy to set up and operate via the remote. Good looks, great price, super video & audio quality, ease of use, ... I could go on, but you get the picture (pun intended)! Definitely recommend this item to anyone.

Summary: Best bang for your buck
Review: Got the Toshiba 2700 early last year and I must say, I'm quite impressed. So far it has played everything I put in it, including all the so-called 'problem discs' such as the Matrix. And the picture and sound are top notch. Plays audio cd's, hdcd's, cd-r, cd-rw's and for all you VCD disc collectors, it plays them as well. Has s-vid, composite and component imputs and is DD 5.1/DTS compatable. Has a plethora of options including zoom, slow-mo, 3 audio modes and many other handy features. Plays scratched discs very well, a very durable system that has to be the best in its price range. [...]. Highly recommended.

Summary: Very Short Life Span
Review: I don't know, maybe I got a lemon. I bought this things as a Christmas gift for my family. I hooked it up and it worked. Two days before Christmas, it dies. The power won't even turn on. It's now too close to Christmas to get an exchange, so it's off to Best Buy to get purchase a different DVD player to replace the Toshiba 2700 that I am returning.

Summary: Problem of tick-tick-ticking sound from within DVD player
Review: On the first DVD I played on the Toshiba SD2700 the picture was beautiful and the sound fine, but on the next four DVD's, as soon as the disc was loaded in the machine, a rapid tick-tick-tick began. It made listening (or watching) the DVD impossible. On all audio CD's the same ticking sound occurred. I have temporarily solved the problem by placing a thick, folded towel over the front and top of the DVD.

This is very disappointing in what should have been an excellent machine.

Summary: A fine machine.
Review: Most of what I would say has already been posted. This is a great DVD player.

Summary: Excellent DVD Player. Two small glitches...
Review: This component DVD player is one of the bests, and is as good (or better) than much more expensive DVD players in other brands...

Two small glitches:

- the layer changes (on dual layer discs) are very visible and create a slight pause. I have seen cheaper DVD players handle the layer change in a seamless manner. This is not a defect, but a characteristic of the player.

- the DVD player does not play the MP3 format.

Other than those two very minor issues, EASILY ONE OF THE BEST DVD PLAYERS ON THE MARKET TODAY (IN THE MID-END CATEGORY)!.
