Review: I bought the movie and I liked it. I enjoyed watching the movie and seeing the Chicanos. I myself am a Chicana, and it really meant somethng to see movies based on my race. Straight up Brown and Proud. Also I liked seeing the character Beeny and Cesar/ I like the way they act and I also think they are really cute. It's a good movie and I recommend you to see it if you haven't already.

Summary: Truly makes you wonder if this does happen
Review: I could not believe it. This really got to me the first time I watched it. Jackson truly playes his role so believably that you actually have to wonder if such a situation really exists between teacher a gang members. The acting is also wonderful and fits the dialague perfectly. You ask yourself "If I was the teacher in the exact same situation, what would I do?" The movie is long but will not bore you because the plot is fast-moving and easy to understand. It also emphasizes a point that society does not talk about enough; Teachers don't get the respect they truly deserve.

Summary: A Great Movie About Teaching!
Review: I have been very fortunate to have a great job as a teacher. I have been lucky enough to see all different types of schools: rural, suburban, and urban. My three years in a Bronx high school were some of the most challenging, frustrating, rewarding, scary, funny, heartwarming, and gutwrenching of my life. Inner-city teaching is truly one of the toughest jobs in the world.

There have been many movies about inner-city teachers: Dangerous Minds, The Substitute, Teachers, The Principal just to name a few. While none of those movies are terrible and some were fun to watch, none of them really showed what it is like to be a teacher. 187 is the only teaching movie I have seen that captures the emotions a teacher goes through teaching in that environment.

Now parts of 187 get carried away. I won't deny that. But the basic theme of what can happen if a teacher takes a situation to the level of the students is universal. No teacher is going to hunt down his/her students like in the film but again the basic idea of how to handle a threat or violence in a school is universal.

I also like how the film discussed how Samuel Jackson's character is trying to regain his desire to teach and playing that off the young idealistic teacher and the burned out teacher. These are real characters and I felt the comparisson and outcomes was extremely credible.

Bottom line is this, I do not think non-teachers will love this movie they might like it. But this is a teachers movie. Again, its goes over the top at times but the basic themes and emotions are extremely accurate.

This is a powerful and realistic film.

Review: I liked this movie it was greeattt, from beggining to end.
Its about a teacher who gets stabbed by a vicuios gangsta, and then moves to Los Angeles where he deals with Latinos who only go to school to fool around, ive noticed the changes in the movie like the difference between NY and La, in Ny its a black community and it looks cold by the color, in LA its the Latinos
and the atmosphere is orange, wich i think is pretty cool, id recommend this movie to anyone who wants to watch a gangsta movie, for anyone who doesnt like gang stuff u might not like it
but anyway it was a cool movie.

Summary: the absolute best movie in the world
Review: I LOVED this movie! It's so good.I think that Clifton Gonzalez Gonzalez did a great job as Cesar Sanchez and I think Samuel L. Jackson did a great job depicting the part of Trevor Garfield. This movie was so good. But it was wierd how everything had a brown tint to it in the movie. I didn't really care though. This is best movie. You have to see it.

Summary: KOS was and is a TAGGING CREW not a gang...
Review: I own this movie and thought it was good. All though the directors and people who saw the movie, must really have no knowledge about the L.A. street scene. KOS (KAPPIN ON SUCKAZ) is a TAGGING CREW from the L.A. area not a gang. They are tagbangers, but still a tagging crew none the less.

For those that dont know what "tagging crews" are, they are usually groups of graffiti writers that rep their name and get up as much as possible in the streets, who war with rival graffiti writing crews.

So since L.A. is known mainly for gangs, I wonder why if this was one of the "roughest" schools in the city, why they wouldnt have a gang run the school, instead of a crew.

Guess the directors f*cked up. For those that ask how do I know all this, I happen to be a graff writer myself. 2:63 crew 4-life!!!

Summary: Education is freedom!
Review: I think that this movie 187 ought to be drilled into the heads of all miscreants who have purposely faltered in their educational endeavors. Instead of having to look up to a thug or drug dealer as a personal liberator, I feel that a teacher could give a person the ax to free his or herself from the ball and chain of ignorance. That's exactly what Jackson tried to give Gonzalez in this film. This movie also showed that no matter how many times a good teacher may get blown off by young deviants, he will always never give up on them. Remember this-education can open up a lot of doors!

Summary: A damn good movie
Review: I think the character that really brings this movie out is "Cesar Sanchez" played by Clifton Gonzalez Gonzalez, he did an excellent job, he really shines through the movie. Man he is really going places.

Summary: A Must Get!
Review: I would like to start off with saying that 187 is a must-see for all people who would like to see how real urban life can be. I can claim to this, since I am a sophomore in a school thats exactly like the one shown in this film. I have taken part in events that take place in the movie. For instance, I have been to juvenile hall and been arrested twice. Anyways, when I saw this movie, I was in awe. Because films like this usaully over-exaddrate this type of life. If you appreciate and understand this movie, I would like to recommend American History X.
